    Kerry, I’m wondering if the “problem” isn’t a problem at all. This pen doesn’t have a flex nib but a soft fine nib, and the difference is mainly in the ability to flex widely and more consistently. The Falcons and the Justus 95 seem to be more like the Noodler’s Ahab, which has a nib that’s more springy and flexes a little but will start to railroad if you start to subject it to much pressure. As far as flex nibs are concerned, the best ones I’ve found are the ones that you can attach to dip pen holders. The Fountain Pen Revolution #6 ultraflex has a lot of give, but even it will railroad as well.

    Try Waterman's Serenity blue or a Pilot Iroshizuku ink like murasaki-shikibu after flushing out other odd ink residues. I know some people who use all manner of glitter and sheen in con 70 converters like in my Pilot custom heritage 912 with the fa nib, which are quite difficult to clean and then complain about ink flow. Not sure what converter is in the Justus? Ebonite feed flex pens with piston filler systems give great flow and performance.

    As always excellent in depth genuine review.
    Please keep them coming up.
    I have not seen you doing any ink reviews. But I think there is one Canadian exclusive ink, which i think would love to review.
    Its Noodlers 'Blue upon the plains of Abraham'
    Not only the history is interesting but ink also looks very unique.
    Its available only in Canada with Wonderpens.
    My sincere request to review it.
    Thanks
    Dr. Vikas

    Matcha powder i used to mix with mineral water and drink as a tonic but it was never enjoyable to me it was always medicinal tasting. I now drink green tea with mint which is much nicer and have moved away from matcha .
    As for the pen its too expensive for what it is i think just get a lower end pen with a soft nib , same thing .
    Cheers Kerry

    Thank you for the review! Sounds like you enjoy mostly occidental style, mixed or flavored teas. So it is not surprising that matcha is a strong experience. Personally I really enjoy it pure... but I never sweeten my tea, nor do I drink milk. Personally, I think you should try drinking a few single leaf teas we'll prepared at a local tea shop and then give matcha another try. It may be your cup of tea... or not at all! Then again that's the beauty of having so much variety!

    I drink Matcha tea daily, 2 - 3 cups for over three years. I enjoy it, now, but it was an acquired taste. Grassy pretty much describes my first impression, too.
    For the amount I'm drinking, I'm not spending $$$$ for the ceremonial grade. Hope you enjoy your next cup!

    Got to disagree on the pen. Had no railroading issues, great consistent writer that allows the user to adjust the softness of the nib. Great pen!

    Good review; your mentioning that you write with the pen normally on the Soft setting pretty much mirrors my experience in trying the pen, which also guided my recent decision to get a second Custom 823 instead of the Justus - if I was likely never going to take advantage of the adjustability of this pen, I'd sooner opt for the (wonderful) familiarity of the 823 (plus the copious ink capacity), simply with a different nib from the one I already had. Can't say I regret my decision.
    Matcha? Nope: I'm pretty much a (loose) black-tea guy. Fave is organic Earl Grey, heavy on the bergamot. Brew a pot of it most every day. :-)

    I agree this is a great pen. I picked one up in Japan last year. I didn't find any issue with railroading as you have discovered in yours and we have the same nib. This may be an issue with your pen in particular. In any case I agree with your assessment that at this price point the body is a bit cheap. This is especially so given that you can get lathed acrylic for roughly the same price for the Parker Duofold (at Stylo.ca as you mentioned in a previous video). Are the Custom 74,92, 823 made of the same materials, ie molded plastic?

      400 is too much.
      Its available for *300* from Goulet, and their prices are known for being higher than market value.
      Its available for *200* from everyone else.

    I have one of these. No issues what so ever. You might want to flush the pen.

    I'm curious about the railroading. I wonder if you flush the pen and feed and re-ink with another ink the railroading will return.

    I don't think this pen is tuned for cursive flex writing. It is tuned for Japanese scrip with a lot of short strokes and line variation. If you like flex try steel Brause nibs, cheap and more flexible than any gold nib with the exception of vintage gold nibs designed for Pitman shorthand. In Pitman shorthand many sounds are represented by strokes that differ only in thickness.

    I'll throw matcha into a smoothie, but I'm in the grass club, too. I wonder if there's a genetic component like with cilantro that tastes like soap to some people. Nice pen but I'm kinda all into dropper converting, now! :-)

    I think you made a huge deal about the resin but that high quality feel this pen offers is actually due to the resin, IMHO. The pen is routinely available around $200 on eBay from Japanese sellers. And for the nib alone, this pen is worth it. It's like at least 2 largely different pens in one, for me, and hence has become my daily carry since a long time. Finally, the pen isn't a flex pen, it is a soft nib. The difference is in the bounce and wetness.

      Plastic is plastic, and does not give a high quality feel in the west(as it is basically *always* a cost saving measure).
      Maybe in your country it does. Not in the west.

    • @edgarvalencia3657
      @edgarvalencia3657 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It *is* available for 200$ plus 11$ shipping from a seller in Japan (1.7 seconds on ebay).
      I'm glad you were right about that.

    • @edgarvalencia3657
      @edgarvalencia3657 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It *is* a flex pen, if you believe the people *who advertise it.*
      It's sold as *"adjustable-flex pen."*

    • @edgarvalencia3657
      @edgarvalencia3657 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neil Fischer My opinion is that it isn't a flex pen, and that the advertisers are to blame for inappropriate expectations.... Or this pen is faulty.... One of the two.
