I LOVE her live version of Unravel, not so much the studio version though weirdly. Ado is such a gem. And she has such a wide range. From cutesy child-like voices to full on metal-like screams and everything in between. Often her songs can feel like she is a voice actress and amazing singer rolled into one and assumes the role of multiple characters. Songs like God-ish, Aishite Aishite Aishite or Fleeting Lullaby showcase this insane flexibility and character play. Songs like Unravel or Tot Musica showcase both her emotional side as well as her aggressive side. And songs like Odo or Show are certified club bangers. In general watching the live performances is always recommended even though you can't actually see her face. Though be warned that she goes "completely off the rails" sometimes when performing live. 😅

im so glad to see you react to ado!! i hope you will do more. i also recommend if you enjoy ado checking out a singer with a similar crazy range named stack, who is the lead vocalist for the group akatsuki records (a group that mostly makes doujin (fanmade) music based off a game series called touhou project). both ado and her have that same feeling of unique sounding amateur-to-trained vocalists and i think you would love to hear stack's crazy range :) i recommend two songs to get a good picture of the variety: "third eye tango" and "reverse trigger"

Thank you for the great reaction and the info of how this colab came to be. As far as Ado goes, I don't think of her as a genre specific artist but more a vocal performance artist that embodies the characters of the song. And because she developed covering vocaloid songs, I have to think that trained her to be able to do unbelievable things at incredible speeds. Unravel (Live), Crime and Punishment, Eien No Akuruhi, Readymade, she even did a cover of a Korean song Villain Utattemita (원곡：Stella Jang). All are amazing. Ado's work is not a rabbit hole but more like the Grand Canyon. :)
The are a bunch of artists in Japan that hide their identities, I don't know for sure why they do it but a couple of reasons that come to mind are: schools don't always allow their students to have a job, if the career fails they can still work in an office without any preconceived notions, they can still walk around town without having to be afraid of fans/possible stalkers (not uncommon in Japan for J-Pop/Idol artists) bothering them. Ado is probably one of the better known ones and while I typically don't enjoy pop too much there are couple of other ones that I really like, eg. Zutomayo (ずっと真夜中でいいのに。), where the lead vocalist ACAね doesn't reveal her face and her face is typically obscured by either blasting light behind her on stage or by covering her in shadow and Yoruhika, who are a 2-piece who both don't show their faces or their names with the exception of their aritst names N-buna and Suis. Both Zutomayo and Yorushika are certainly worth checking out. I think the reason why I enjoy both (but especially Zutomayo) is because they tend to use a lot of different ideas from different genres in their music. Zutomayo's live performances are also a feast for the eye and they tend to have a lot of musicians on stage.
I can already say, this song far from showcases Ado's immense vocal range. In the world of singing, I'd argue her vocal control is likely up there to be considered the best in the world or close to it. An important note is that her live performances don't sound any different. A few times, you'll listen to a live performance and think "Okay, this sounds a bit different from the studio". With Ado, I genuinely can't tell the difference, rather, I'd say her voices shines even more in her live performances

ado actually talked about how this collab came to be on one of her streams she said the manager of imagine dragon's heard about her and actually went to her concert and that's basically how they met according to her there's also one thing about ado is that while she is a singer she is also the producer to what the japanese consider as japan's scariest idol group known as phantom siita which is a horror themed idol group

Ado's vibe is ... Ado. She has an amazing range and power in all of it. Best way I can explain it is that she is Adele, Whitney and Celine all rolled into one. Sort of like Suisei, but with more power in her vocals.
Ado is fun because it changes the atmosphere and singing way depending on the song. Yodel and rap's fun songs were in the Show live version, and in the dignity live version, they had a whistle voice, which was cool. Also, the song "Sin and Punishment" that produces high and low sounds, aishite live, and unravel live are cool. It's fun because each sounds like a different person.😂

I watched so many reacts to Ado and this was the first time anyone mentioned that she sounds kind of like a japanese Shakira (the same thing i noticed when i first started to listen to her) I feel very validated now lol.
Ado is in my opinion the greatest vocalist born in the 21st century so far (or at the very least from Japan), i recommend checking out her songs, and the Live versions of her songs are THE BEST!!!!
p.s Utaite is more than just a term for people who post their own song covers online- think of it more of a movement / social thing than just a term. They are almost always fairly closeted people - sometimes hikarmori - who are not comfortable with normal social interactions to some extent- and NOT that type who crave fame and dancing in front of huge crowds etc. Hence they are VERY OFTEN anonymous. Even if they become big. They love the singing and music not the fame - and want to share their talents but are not the types to go to auditions etc.. Hence posting covers online anon is a safe way for them to do so. Some do eventually come out of their shells and stop being anon to some degree - like Ado doing live shows even as a sillouhette - that was probably a big step for her, and im sure her management convinced her she needed to tour to push her career forward even tho she is already very big in japan.

Since you are new to Ado I would highly recommend "Ussewa". It's her debut song that is pretty much the main reason she got to where she is now in the 1st place. Followed up by all the other amazing songs she recorded. As a vocal coach you will have a lot of fun with Ado. What you heard here is just a tasty sample of what Ado does in her songs 😁
The thing is that with Ado's songs, you actually can choose which genre of music you want. You want rock, choose "Backlight" or "Crime & Punishment". For something more jazzy , go for "Rabuka". Pop - "Fleeting Lullaby", "Show". And to see her voice range and acrobatics, I would hint watching "神っぽいな 歌いました" better known as "God-ish".
Ado, by the way, despite her young age, not only sings herself, she also created an idol group of 5 girls, whom she produces and teaches them vocals. There are behind-the-scenes videos of how she supervises the recording of songs, and shows the girls examples of how to sing.

While many artists have a toolbox, Ado has a warehouse. Her genre is yes. Her range is a howitzer. Even if you don't know what she is saying, her emotions will pull you in and make you feel the song. You will cry without knowing why. She is a once-in-a-lifetime singer.
Check out all Ado's music honestly lol, but I will say an underrated song is "Himawari" it's a calm beautiful song which shows her other side compared to most of her music :), Dignity live version too.

I think the best introduction to Ado is her live cover of "Unravel" because despite the fact it is a very famous anime opening song and thus having many covers, I think what she actually did is what the original singer WANTED to do but couldn't. It's like she did justice to the idea he had in his head but it took someone like her to come along and finally represent those lyrics. Nedless to say, she absolutely destroys the original version (even on her studio version of the song).
So, Ado didnt have an influence in the style of the song. Imagine Dragons originally did this song themselves half a year ago and since then has rereleased the song with a different feature singer of a different language. Ado is the latest one and i think shes the eighth or ninth.
@Olkam-w5u sorry about the wrong info before, someone told me 8. I did look it up and Ado is the 4th. The other three are Austrilian, French, and Italian. While Austrialian in itself isn't a different language, it does make Ado the fourth featured artist. Still the best

im so glad to see you react to ado!! i hope you will do more. i also recommend if you enjoy ado checking out a singer with a similar crazy range named stack, who is the lead vocalist for the group akatsuki records (a group that mostly makes doujin (fanmade) music based off a game series called touhou project). both ado and her have that same feeling of unique sounding amateur-to-trained vocalists and i think you would love to hear stack's crazy range :) i recommend two songs to get a good picture of the variety: "third eye tango" and "reverse trigger"

Thank you for the great reaction and the info of how this colab came to be. As far as Ado goes, I don't think of her as a genre specific artist but more a vocal performance artist that embodies the characters of the song. And because she developed covering vocaloid songs, I have to think that trained her to be able to do unbelievable things at incredible speeds. Unravel (Live), Crime and Punishment, Eien No Akuruhi, Readymade, she even did a cover of a Korean song Villain Utattemita (원곡：Stella Jang). All are amazing.
Ado's work is not a rabbit hole but more like the Grand Canyon. :)
The are a bunch of artists in Japan that hide their identities, I don't know for sure why they do it but a couple of reasons that come to mind are: schools don't always allow their students to have a job, if the career fails they can still work in an office without any preconceived notions, they can still walk around town without having to be afraid of fans/possible stalkers (not uncommon in Japan for J-Pop/Idol artists) bothering them. Ado is probably one of the better known ones and while I typically don't enjoy pop too much there are couple of other ones that I really like, eg. Zutomayo (ずっと真夜中でいいのに。), where the lead vocalist ACAね doesn't reveal her face and her face is typically obscured by either blasting light behind her on stage or by covering her in shadow and Yoruhika, who are a 2-piece who both don't show their faces or their names with the exception of their aritst names N-buna and Suis. Both Zutomayo and Yorushika are certainly worth checking out. I think the reason why I enjoy both (but especially Zutomayo) is because they tend to use a lot of different ideas from different genres in their music. Zutomayo's live performances are also a feast for the eye and they tend to have a lot of musicians on stage.

I can already say, this song far from showcases Ado's immense vocal range. In the world of singing, I'd argue her vocal control is likely up there to be considered the best in the world or close to it.
An important note is that her live performances don't sound any different. A few times, you'll listen to a live performance and think "Okay, this sounds a bit different from the studio".
With Ado, I genuinely can't tell the difference, rather, I'd say her voices shines even more in her live performances

Ado's vibe is ... Ado. She has an amazing range and power in all of it. Best way I can explain it is that she is Adele, Whitney and Celine all rolled into one. Sort of like Suisei, but with more power in her vocals.

Yodel and rap's fun songs were in the Show live version, and in the dignity live version, they had a whistle voice, which was cool. I watched so many reacts to Ado and this was the first time anyone mentioned that she sounds kind of like a japanese Shakira (the same thing i noticed when i first started to listen to her) I feel very validated now lol.
Ado is in my opinion the greatest vocalist born in the 21st century so far (or at the very least from Japan), i recommend checking out her songs, and the Live versions of her songs are THE BEST!!!!

p.s Utaite is more than just a term for people who post their own song covers online- think of it more of a movement / social thing than just a term. They are almost always fairly closeted people - sometimes hikarmori - who are not comfortable with normal social interactions to some extent- and NOT that type who crave fame and dancing in front of huge crowds etc. Hence they are VERY OFTEN anonymous. Even if they become big. They love the singing and music not the fame - and want to share their talents but are not the types to go to auditions etc.. Hence posting covers online anon is a safe way for them to do so.
Some do eventually come out of their shells and stop being anon to some degree - like Ado doing live shows even as a sillouhette - that was probably a big step for her, and im sure her management convinced her she needed to tour to push her career forward even tho she is already very big in japan.

Since you are new to Ado I would highly recommend "Ussewa".
It's her debut song that is pretty much the main reason she got to where she is now in the 1st place. Followed up by all the other amazing songs she recorded.
As a vocal coach you will have a lot of fun with Ado.

The thing is that with Ado's songs, you actually can choose which genre of music you want. You want rock, choose "Backlight" or "Crime & Punishment". For something more jazzy , go for "Rabuka". Pop - "Fleeting Lullaby", "Show". And to see her voice range and acrobatics, I would hint watching "神っぽいな 歌いました" better known as "God-ish".
Useewa, Tot Musica, her cover of Unravel. I would start with those three and enjoy the Show.

While many artists have a toolbox, Ado has a warehouse. Her genre is yes. Her range is a howitzer. Even if you don't know what she is saying, her emotions will pull you in and make you feel the song. You will cry without knowing why. She is a once-in-a-lifetime singer.
Check out all Ado's music honestly lol, but I will say an underrated song is "Himawari" it's a calm beautiful song which shows her other side compared to most of her music :), Dignity live version too.
I recommended Ado a long time ago. She has some spectacular songs that will lift you up. Please make sure to do the live version of UNRAVEL. Yes some people think she is a vocaloid AI voice at 1rst because she is so amazing.

Im sure a lot will recommend some of her extreme scream songs liive like unravel but tbh thats jumping in the deep end imo.
I think the best introduction to Ado is her live cover of "Unravel" because despite the fact it is a very famous anime opening song and thus having many covers, I think what she actually did is what the original singer WANTED to do but couldn't. It's like she did justice to the idea he had in his head but it took someone like her to come along and finally represent those lyrics.
Nedless to say, she absolutely destroys the original version (even on her studio version of the song).
So, Ado didnt have an influence in the style of the song. Imagine Dragons originally did this song themselves half a year ago and since then has rereleased the song with a different feature singer of a different language. Ado is the latest one and i think shes the eighth or ninth.

@Olkam-w5u sorry about the wrong info before, someone told me 8. I did look it up and Ado is the 4th. The other three are Austrilian, French, and Italian. While Austrialian in itself isn't a different language, it does make Ado the fourth featured artist. Still the best
