SO excited to read this. Reminds me of the Moving Finger! The village setting is my favourite for a mystery.

I love Agatha Christie! No question she if my favorite author. I have a number of Patricia Wentworth books but haven't read any of them yet. Don't know why really. I think it's time to give Patricia Wentworth a try.

At par with Hercule Poirot, and Lord Peter Wimsey? That has been added to my TBR. Agatha Christie and Classic Crime isn’t massively discussed on TH-cam, which is why I was so delighted to find your channel.
My recent knock-off-chair mystery was Clouds of Witness by Dorothy L Sayers, which I know you’ve read. After virtually a whole lifetime reading about Poirot and Marple, I am only just discovering Lord Peter Wimsey and am falling in love with his books. I found the ending so moving, particularly when his uncle writes the letter explaining why Peter is the way he is! One of the few times I have ever found a mystery novel particularly ‘moving’. (Now of course I shall go and watch your review!)
I’m currently reading The Murder At The Vicarage because of your raving about it. 😂😂
I love the film with Geraldine McEwan, but you were the one who pushed me to read the (BRILLIANT) book. I got halfway through in a day...the lockdown cloud has a silver lining.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! Loved the video as always. :)

Thank you for your review. I've been reading Wentworth for a while, I read the first ten Miss Silver books in fact. The first ones were not very good, more thriller than detective fiction actually, but from "The chinese shawl" on, they were getting better and better. I will continue with the series. Please post more reviews of Patricia Wentworth!

I’ve discovered PW through you. And recently read the silent pool and the gazebo. Unfortunately both 2 star reads for me. I could pretty much tell the killer from the beginning in both books. Although easy reads it lacked something. But I will give her another chance and definitely get this one. Great video as always. 👍

oh no I am sorry you have felt like that, I never mind knowing who it is and working it out. Maybe one or two more tries but perhaps she isn't for you?

Your description of the plot immediately made me recall Christie’s “Moving finger”. I really enjoyed that book more because of the village characters, the gentle romance than the mystery itself. How does this Wentworth book compare in that regards? Enjoyed your review as ever. Thanks.

I prefer this book to the moving finger. Miss Marple is not I the book for quite a bit of it whereas Miss Silver is in all the way through. Similar plot but different feel.

Thank you for your recommendation! Will pick that one up as soon as possible!
How does it compare to "the moving finger" specifically tho? They seem rather similar in premise.
