Thanks Tony, I can't wait to get up to the Lakes. I am staying in a cottage so won't be camping out, but plan on a couple of solo walks (probably including Bowfell) and a couple off family ones (perhaps including Catbells).
I always liked the idea of Bivvys John before I tried one, I'm too claustrophobic for them so mine didn't last long. The Hille test will be good I used to own a Soulo, it's a fantastic tent. These days I just have the Akto and when myself and my partner go to Tassie we normally take the Nallo 3 possibly my favorite tent ever for two people Clear skies John and good camping 🥾👍
Thanks Ollie 🙂. I went out in the Soulo last week on a warm night (17 deg C) which is not really ideal for this type of tent. However I had a lovely night in it so was very pleased. Tonight I'm in the garden with a Redcat 51 trying to get an image of M52 and the Bubble Nebula, and hopefully the Lobster Claw. Single 2 minute image looks very nice 👍. Clear Skies to you
Happy Sunday John - Watching your movie I was reminded about my Akto tent from Hilleberg. Basically it is the same design, but only 500 grams heavier and with a lot more space inside. So while I have been thinking about buying a bivy bag; I have never got around as the Akto does the same job if I want lightweight camping. Of course I do not do stealth camping, so the low profile of the bivy bag is not something I need. However, have you thought about sleeping in a hammock on warm days? Modern hammocks offers a lot, but are a different kind of camping of course! All the best, Ant
Hi Ant, hope you had a good weekend. I do occasionally toy with the idea of hammock camping as there are a few locations I use locally that would lend themselves to it. An excuse to buy more gear 🤣. I had a night out in the Soulo last week. It was raining and misty but mild (15 deg at night) and I had a lovely time 🙂.

Good review but I'm not convinced it's something I'd go for. It seems to be a cross between a bivvy and a very small tent. As you say, it would need to be very good weather to be able to use it without, I suspect, a lot of condensation. Have yourself a good time in the Lakes, my favourite place despite most of my videos being about the Beacons! Hoping to get up there again myslef soon. ATB. Roger

Bivvy camps are nice if you are sure you can sit outside all evening and be warm and comfortable, so for me they are useful if it's too hot to be in a tent, or I'm sleeping in my garden because my house is too hot to sleep in. In general though, I am like you and prefer the comfort of a tent.
Great vid :) I’m really wanting to do a wild camp at some point and Love this product :) small and simple. Not too keen on that price tag tho, so may have to look for a dirt cheap version at some point :£
I reckon that there are plenty of cheaper options on Amazon you could look at. Although I prefer the comfort of a tent generally, a bivvy camp is a nice thing to do.

Yes, this tent needs pegging out to get the benefit from the hoop. I took a small peg hammer with me on my camp on the South Downs as the ground was hard due to no rain for about 3 months. If you can't get the pegs in then I reckon you would have to use it without the hoop, more like s basic bivvy. Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to comment 👍
This is a very good point. Personally, I only use bivvy bags in good conditions, when there is no chance of rain. In any other conditions I use a tent for exactly this sort of reason.

It was really nice. Our bedroom was so hot that I had no chance of getting to sleep.

You are welcome Nikki, glad you enjoyed it. I think the big advantage of the Lanshan is that you can get all your gear in it.

these tents dont work are very hard ground. if you cant get the pegs in then the tent will not function well at all. learned from experience
