I might have to change my name to "JG Brent" after this one :V
GE3 turned one year old today (JP ver) and I wanted to do something to show my appreciation for this game and so I made this video as a kind of commemorative celebration.
There's really a ton of downright wild stuff in this game that I never really get to do in standard Perfect Clear runs. So I wanted to do a video where I could show you just how high the skill ceiling can be in GE3.
Seriously, some of the clips in this video are damn mind burstingly difficult. Like the quadruple dive JG on Dromi devour or the opening Vajra clip.
If you think you've got some GE3 skills, I want you to try some of these out!

Instead of talking about how painstaking it was to put this video together, I rather want to talk about how I've come a long way this year.
I was watching some of my first sets GE3 videos recently and my god, they are bad.
But you know, the whole reason I make videos is so that I can improve myself as a player, so those old videos actually have a lot of meaning to them.
They show milestones of my improvement and they represent all the time I've spent practicing to get good at this game.
They show how far along I've come to get to where I am now, and they also show how much further I still have to go to get even better.
Shonen battle anime mindset aside, I really appreciate this game for being there for me in this really rough year.
I hope GE3 continues to get the love and support it deserves.
And to you for watching my videos and supporting me and even making it all the way to the bottom of the senseless wall of text, thank you!

After seeing this and the JG community video its now inspired me to reach heights similar to this. Though i have been practicing a week now against balmung and pita i haven't got consistent at all, but that wont stop me (shonen protagonist mindset). Thank you for the inspiration, hopefully I'll get there too!

In addition to my old comment, I’d say one thing for sure. This video’s one of the sources of my determination in GE3 to do challenges such as Perfect Clears, No Burst Art challenges or Rank 1 weapons on Rank 7 missions. Right now, I’m still in the middle at getting better at this game by learning new ways to JG or disrespect Aragami.

Your video made me want to throw my lazyness off, just to make a gameplay amazing, or at least as close to it as yours. I had a notion of what could be done, but seeing it being done is entirely different. Specially the Just Guard with a Dive.

God Eater 3 and Dark Arisen have become the staple "feel good to go back into" for various reasons. But one of those reasons is people like you who show the possibilities regarding playing skills, wrapped up in well made and and well edited, enjoyable videos.

anyway, i'm far far away at be that good with JG... i'm still geting the jist of it, even in GE2 i'm still learning to use Final Vengeance and JG. and since i'm waiting my PC to come home (hopefuly it'll come to me next week... cheers!) i will play the damn game until i get better at blocking!

Just stumbled onto your video and I've gotta say this was a banger. Felt like the intro to an anime the whole way through. Those words of motivation in the video were a nice touch, too.

Really fuckin' well made video. Superbly edited and extremely uplifting - your love for this game is apparent. Song was lit too. There was also so many badass clips that I can't list them all here, but the backflip PG'S took the cake for me. Can't believe this fun ass game is already a year old. Kudos, man.

I'm more of a gunner/support for the past GE games (crispy with Perfect Guards too) so I was confused when I first experienced GE3 combat since everything was so much faster lolol But once I found your JG vids and combat guides on your website months ago, I got REALLY pumped to go all out melee! Sometimes I think "How would Yanagi survive this?"

@@bkbrent i do, but just being bored by endless grinding & farming +1, haha. even the +50 cap seems taking too much effort. this game should implement stuff like blood rage from the previous ones, or include dlc monsters like crimson. really miss those times

@@bkbrent Beautiful. He danced for ya. Reminds me of the time my friend and I were fighting him. I was sitting behind a turtle shield watching her try to deal with the meteors. She tried to put a shield up but didn't get it up in time, so one meteor to the face. Then she tried to shield dash to the Anubis thinking she was safe closer, but she took a meteor to the face and just flopped on the floor dead from where she was in the air. No knockback, no animations, just air-floor-dead. I still have that clip saved on my switch
She must have tried to guard with not much HP left. I know you go straight into falling death animation when you die on chip damage, even in the air. (2.20 might have addressed this in some way)

While I admire your modesty and find your will to push yourself to your limits in regards to self-improvement very inspiring, I also find it somewhat sad: I mean, if YOU'RE trash, _what that makes me (and most "normal" people)...?_
I kinda wonder what's the next step from here. I mean, you're already amazing at JGing, so I guess the direct improvement to that is developing Time Stop abilities.

I genuinely don't think I'm anything special at this game, and its part of the cycle of getting better to pick out my own faults and mistakes so I have things to work on.
But at the same time, humbleness can come across as condescending which puts me in an awkward spot where sometimes no matter what I say, someone, somewhere can possibly find it insulting.
Say I'm good and someone who talks more than they plays comes out and adamantly tries to prove whoever otherwise. Say I'm bad and people who look up to me think I'm being insincere.
So I usually just say I'm OK and try to play it safe, but sometimes I just be honest about how I really feel like when I typed the previous reply.
This is because instead of trying to not step on anyone's toes, I just want to be myself here.

I usually don't like braggers/humblebraggers very much, and we certainly live in a world with a lot of self-centric individuals so I can undestand; but, I usually don't like when people refuse to acknowledge their own deserved merits either.
Of course, you'll always have room for improvement (perfection is, by definition, something that cannot be achieved; due to its conceptual growth being proportional to yours), and there'll probably be better and/or unknown players out there ("there is always a bigger fish"), you have still put in effort into bettering yourself, and (despite the room for further improvement being there) succeeded in doing so. I encourage you to take pride in that, even if it's nothing much or no more than a stepping stone to you.
...Y'know, I wonder what the "younger" BK Brent, the one that had just recently started playing GE, would think seeing your playstyle today, haha.
That said, don't feel like I'm pressuring you or anything: mine is simply an advice into looking at the fruit of your efforts with more positivity! You do you, after all.
Realistically, if me in December 2018 saw this video, I would have lost my mind and went to the nearest zoo irl and tried to backflip JG the animals there wwwww
Then I would have gotten really self conscious about my level of play at the time and trained even harder to get to this level.

Those were some insane JGs there. I can’t really cope up some of those tactics even though I know how to JG (Mainly Balmung’s Devour with Tower and Nuadha’s Devour with either Buckler or Shield)
Update: I managed to JG Burst Dromi’s most powerful attack (the dust one; one of the most torturous attacks to JG) and I was really happy about it (took me months to figure it out since I only focused on getting behind it). Also got a hint on JG-ing the head smashing attacks.
I’ve also attempted Eire’s devour with the ice crystal still intact but I was surprised that my second attempt was a success.

Please do a stylish stagger/kill next time if you plan to make more videos like this (like breaking Havakiri's arms by countering her charged slash with LB counter BA or killing Gawain with air devour when he's doing the spinning uppercut)
That was actually one of my first ideas when planning concepts for an Anniversary video and I still think it could be cool.
Might be a long time before I attempt another on like these, but I'll see if I can think up some cool stuff.
When monsters die during airborne animations, they just teleport to the ground and it ends up looking weird as hell though
