Dr Marisan thank you for sharing your reaction and analysis to DImash songs. I have been a follower of Dimash since 2017, each of his songs is a gem because in addition to his vocal quality that exceeds traditional standards, these songs have lyrics with excellent messages. He also makes us feel emotions and feelings with his interpretation, it is an immersive and addictive experience. Lara had just returned from a serious ear illness and this was her return after being very sick.
She was hoping to return for Igor’s birthday celebration.
Dimash is so wonderful. Imagine being him and being able to sing all three parts perfectly. He's such a gentleman and lets the ladies shine. :)
I am not a music professional, and am possessed of little experience with the world of opera. But you mentioned something that I noticed the first time I heard this performance. It seemed that Dimash adjusted his vibrato to synch with each of his female leads. I just thought that he resonated very well with very different vocal timbres. I've heard comments in the past, that many famous singers won't accommodate other artitsts in such ways. They expect others to adjust to them. I get the sense that Dimash is a generous and unpretentious collaborator, despite his immense gifts.
Aida is a famous russian opera singer, lyric soprano and soloist of the Vienna State Opera, who has performed duets with Placido Domingo and Anrea Bocelli. After Aida won one of the most prestigious international competitions for opera singers "Operalia" in Verona (2013), where over 600 of the best opera singers (under the age of 30) from almost all opera houses in the world were announced, she received several invitations and offers from the world's leading opera houses, including Metropolitan Opera, Grand Theater of Bordeaux and Vienna State Opera, which finally became her choice then. I really expect a reaction to the joint performance of Dimash and Aida (Ulisse).
Let me give you some info on this incredible trio and event:
• Igor is there as an overall lead because the event is built for him: this is his birthday event that he organized with all his favorite artists, the ones that he is used to collaborate with and the songs he has composed
• This is not the first time that Lara sings this song (composed by Igor) in trio but the third time: she performed in the original version with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Alina Yaroyava then again later with Dmitriy and Sumi Jo, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida. The song was composed from day one with her voice in mind. She has been collaborating with Igor for more than 10 years and he has told from her that she is “the best singer and the best songwriter he has ever worked with”
• This also explains why the song does not exposes more of Dimash’s upper register: it was written for the late Dmitri who was a pure baryton.
• Lara was very very sick that day, with fever and strong medication but she is skilled enough to have made it unnoticeable
• Also, like Dimash, and even if the song was composed that way with her in mind, Lara does not sing in her real « comfort zone »: she is, as Aida, a lyrical soprano but here she plays the role in the trio of a mezzo-soprano and takes the median register. It requires a lot of voice control to not interfere with Aida’s high note and does not allow her to really shine. She gives room to Aida to do it instead and Aida uses this magnificently.
• It was the first time Dimash met his idol Lara: look how quickly he turned to her, despite he has not finished his duo section with Aida 😂 And how he looks at her and hold her after it …
• Lara is the most comfortable in italian because it is her first native language even before french: her mother is italian and while born in Belgium she spent her first 5 years in sicilia before returning there. She also is married to a sicilian man
• Look how dimash slightly adapted his vibrato to better match Aida or Lara
• Also there is a debate about the final note, held for such a long time, with the conductor looking at Igor and Igor smiling: Did they make a prank to the singers by extending this last note? Or did the singers instead played with them? I personnally think this is more option 1 😀
• I forgot to add that Lara has been classically trained for more than 10 years at Brussels Royal Conservatory and still continues to receive voice lessons at least on a weekly basis. And she has sung many times opera pieces or with opera singers.
In a TV interview, Lara said that at a pause in their rehearsals of this piece, Aida commented, "Hey, if I have to run out for something, he can sing my part." Aida then burst into laughter, then Lara and Dimash joined in.

Hi and YEAH. ^^ I'd like to mention that in 2011 Lara had a serious accident durant her rehearsal for her tour that year, the sound technician accidentaly raised the sound (I dont know the technical word) in her eletronic point (left ear) like 100 times more than it should be, it was just for a 1 second or 2. But it was long enough to damage her left inner ear, she almost faint, the they took her to the hospital, than, afrer some exams, she was diagnosticated with Ménière disease, which is a disorder caused by build of fluid in the chambers in the inner ear. It causes symptoms such as vertigo, nausea, vomiting, loss of hearing, ringing in the ears, headache, loss of balance, and sweating. She had to cancel her tour, she stayed in complete silence for weeks, her left inner ear almost blew away, since then she has been experiencing the strongest headaches ever, most of times she performs after having shots of morphine, she said in recente in interviews that sometimes, during her concerts, since the accindent her left ear becomes deaf for some minutes and that she is not able to listen to her own voice ressonance inside her voice, plus she also experiences vertige, but keeps singing, its a terrible sensantion, of course. A perfect reaction of vocal technique and singing from this magical trio
You spent some good time talking about the vowels. This is extremely important for singing together. I used to be a barbershop singer - no instruments to keep to help keep on pitch. We had a manual for singing the four part harmony where eight of the seventeen chapters was about vowels. They have to be exactly the same for each part, where there are nearly always four different notes to harmonise with and create that "ringing" sensation. It is not easy to be so precise and takes much practice to get it right - on pitch, exactly the same vowel sound from each part and for the whole song. These three singers must have worked hard together to reach that level of pure harmony!
Don't have a link but an employee recorded all kinds of background footage as they set up the performance - he caught Dimash meeting Lara for the 1st time - it was remarkable.... Dimash is talking to the guy Repeatedly like Dimash is just a reg person - that kid is HUMBLE - he really lives it..... Aida is Gorgeous - her & Lara's voices are amazing..... But Dimash in that Baritone register - INSANE

Lara is the queen of the voice!
Beautiful reaction and analysis of one of my favourites of Dimash’s ensemble work! Stylistically very different from some of my other favourites (Queen Medley with Super Vocal Boys is also phenomenal ensemble work despite a few issues with some of the English pronunciations - really good harmonies!). It is always striking to watch someone who is familiar and well versed with a subject rather than others who are not trained. It is also beautiful to watch the interaction between Dimash and Lara during the performance since Dimash has admired Lara for a long time.

👉 The lady in white is Aida Garifullina, *1987, a Tatar from Russia, world-famous opera star and Prima Donna at the Vienna Opera (Austria).
The lady in black is Lara Fabian (*1970), also a world-famous singer, songwriter from Belgium and a great role model for Dimash. Even as a child, Dimash wished to be on stage with Igor Krutoy and Lara Fabian one day ... and here the dream came true.
This event took place on the occasion of the 65th birthday of Igor Krutoi (composer at the piano) in 2019. Can there be a nicer birthday?
* Igor Krutoy (Krutoy means 'Cool', *1954 in Ukraine SSR). He lives and works in Moscow/ Russia. He is singer, a world- famous composer and music titan in Russia (billionaire). His family lives in the US. Krutoy came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship.
Krutoy wrote of what working with Dimash meant to him: “How lucky it is to be doing what you love to do, writing for such a brilliantly feeling singer, evoking deep emotion in the audience and being in demand'.
So far, Igor has composed several songs for Dimash and many songs in 30 years for Lara Fabian and other singers. Most of the songs in this concert were by him.

While this performance is epic and Dimash is definitely a marvel, I suggest you watch the Ti amo cosi version with Lara Fabian, Sumi Jo, Dmitri Hvorostovsky which I actually prefer. Dmitri's baritone is a better fit here I think and the vocals (as well as her acting performance :-) of the great Sumi Jo are superb. Not requesting that you do another reaction but if you have a chance to view, I'd be interested in your takeaway.
