This interview is very special for me as I am talking with my writing teacher and mentor, Alan Watt. Taking Al's class in my 20s completely changed the trajectory of my life and I hope that you are also inspired by our chat. Whether you have always wanted to write a book, screenplay, or play, or whether you have always just wanted to complete an artistic project, I know today's video will inspire. Thank you for watching! All of Al's links are int he description box below the video. Love, Jennifer

Thank you a million times over. I have been writing for a few decades, but never completed anything, except poems, b/c a parent told me at the age of 9 that I couldn't make money at it. But, God wouldn't let me stop. And, others have tried to help me, but I couldn't let the original negative comment go.

You are so excited and animated during this interview. It’s obviously dear to your heart.
I wonder if Alan lists you when he mentions his successful former students 😉
I’m grateful to him for giving us The Daily Connoisseur !

This was so inspiring Jennifer! I enjoyed hearing what Alan had to say about writing and especially about showing up every day and how our subconscious is working on things as we sleep so to keep that thread going. It was really nice to learn about this portion of your life 🌹

Hello I’m an inspiring writer. I’m so happy you shared this today. I always wanted to know how you wrote your books. I’ve been wanting to take 15 minutes each day to write so this is confirmation for me. Thank you Alan and Jennifer. XO Rosenda 🌸

Loved seeing the abundance of mutual respect. Also I never heard or thought about the subconscious mind needing the continuity of ritual and or daily habits to keep creativity flowing. This interview was inspiring no matter what one is striving to accomplish. Thank you Jennifer.

What synchronicity! I was looking for Alan’s book at Barnes & Noble yesterday based on remembering you mentioned it here ages ago. And now here is this fantastic video. Thank you both so much.

I feel like this was made for me. I’ve been wanting to write since I was a little girl but I always feel I’m nowhere close to smart enough to write a great story but I truly believe that God has led me to this very point and he’s been consistently telling me to Just Write. This is it. I’m doing it. Thank you so much to both of you!

Inspiring interview for sure. What a satisfying feeling that must have been for you, Jennifer, when your book became a success after being rejected like that. Wow, so glad you believed in yourself. I'm sure that agent can see your books loud and clear now. We all hope you keep writing more, and more. What a success story, and great information today.

I absolutely loved this interview with your writing teacher and mentor, Alan Watt. The conversation was open, authentic, accessible, hopeful and so real. Thank you, both, so much!! In fact, I bought one of Al's books and hope to take a telecourse sometime (and wouldn't a trip abroad at one of his writing retreats be amazing!) and I was so inspired by your early story about him, that I mentioned Al's website to my friend from Boston who then took his online course, and was able to write the first draft of her novel. What’s nice about your discussion on writing is that Al mentions the excellent advice to write every day and let it flow, whether it’s 15 minutes or one hour, or even more. He also talks about trusting your voice. I loved it when he spoke about his writing angels and discussed story structure that includes desire, surrender and transformation. Wow! This was so informative and you are an amazing success story to Alan Watt's teaching style, Jennifer.

Thank you for this interview. I wrote my first novel in 30 minutes a day. I self published it a year ago. I've recently had my second child and have been feeling really guilty about not getting any writing done. It was so nice to hear that you have given yourself a break and that you will start writing again now that you are sleeping better. (That's great by the way! A bit jealous about that over here😜). I knew it's okay to give myself this time off but it is still nice to hear a 'real' author say it.
    Happy writing!

Like the others who commented here, this was somehow exactly the right thing for me to hear at this point in my life. I have started 4 screenplays, a children's book and a memoir style piece over the years and none has seen the light of day... I bough Al's book after listening to this interview and found the energy you both whipped up exactly what I needed ! Thank you !

Awesome interview. Nothing like word of mouth marketing. I heard about Alan Watt from someone I know who's writing their second screenplay, and raves about the process that Alan walks a person through.

Wow. I'm so excited for this interview!! Edited now that I've watched. It was very encouraging. I have no problem finishing a million rough drafts but I get bogged down in the editing and revision! I wonder if there is a class "90 day first revision!" 😂 Thank you for inspiring me to keep writing each day.

I came across your first book about a year ago. While I was reading it I had to kinda laugh to myself when I came to the part where you talk about reading kinds of books that you normally wouldn't have read. For me your's was one that I would normally not have read. Even though I most of the books I read are non fiction. I tend to read more about science and history.

I got the 90-day novel/rewrite and the size feels so intimidating thanks for this video I'm going to take it one day at a time and realize I won't know my story till the end.

I do not have a book recommendation for non-fiction, although Al's book could help for motivation.
