This is an amazing documentary style video for Geometry Dash. The editing, storytelling, and history behind this is incredible and I’m sure it took ages to make. It’s also really cool to hear a few voices from other Geometry Dash players such as lemoncake reading comments as a bit of diversity. This was amazing and your videos keep making me more and more impressed with this community after all this time!
In my honest opinion Bloodlust was the best top 1 we've ever had, such cool history, the time it took to come out, the decoration and how difficult the level was for the time it came out, it was insane
Nah it has to be bloodbath. It was insane how much harder it was than anything else, and the race to beat it went on for literal months. The demon list only had like 2 or 3 modern day extremes at the time, the rest was all insane demons.
Probably Cataclysm, it put the most popular GD song on the radar, it inspired levels such as Artificial Ascent, Bloodbath, and Aftermath. It was peak difficulty for the time, and it showed the game the worlds best players: Cyclic, GironDavid, and Riot. It was just all around revolutionary
In my opinion, bloodlust should still be a top 1. Especially the final extension that’s fast paced and buffing it, Bloodlust should at least be a top 20.
can we appreciate how much effort he put into syncing the levels in the background? 1:37 piano syncs with the pulse in the back 2:16 the unity circles in the bg go up when he says "lifted" 2:20 the fading piano syncs with the fading comment 6:11 drums synced with the cut man puts so much effort into little details 🙏
can we talk about how much of an unsung hero knobbelboy is? he went from the unlikely challenger to the overworked intern to the community's scapegoat to a replaceable dummy, and he still pulled through and beat bloodlust. a toast to knobbelboy's sheer willpower
Thanks for letting me edit part of the video! Your script writing, music choice and raw amount of effort you put into these videos is genuinely inspiring. Amazing work :)
Amazing video dude, and honestly i get more and more impressed by how the creators in the community keep pushing the editor again and again, as someone who's been here since 1.3, i'm amazed at how far we've gotten and look forward to the future and i hope gd grows even more
ah yes, I remember this time. I was still shit at the game, but literally everything I saw from Manix blew my socks off to the other side of the world. Blade of Justice and Bloodlust still stand toe to toe as my favorite extreme demons in the game. Absolutely excellent work here. Also, I really appreciate how you approached "he who shall not be named". I find it very funny.
Even if Crazen has done wrong, I don't think it was it was a necessarily good idea to censor him out of the story completely tho :/ But yes, gud vid and 3 Manix levels :)
What can I say, except that this video is one,if not your best ! The story told is very interesting, the narration is on point, the editing is epic and gives me very good vibes :) This video is excellent,to say the least👍 It's an obvious Like+Subscribe for this work
I started playing the game right before Bloodlust was verified. I never knew that all this was happening before I joined. It’s really interesting to hear this story so many years later. Great job on this video!
Amazing video! The storytelling was great and the editing was smooth as well. I loved how everything came together in the end. Also, the part at 14:45 gave me another idea. Can you imagine what will happen if [REDACTED] (Crazen) successfully stole and verified Bloodlust? In an alternate timeline, he would be the one to replace Knobbelboy as the top 1 most respected player of the time, be the one to bring GD out of its dark age and bring vitality into the game, potentially take on numerous more projects due to his fame, and influence GD like nobody ever could. His name will be engraved in GD history... But then, he would be exposed as a groomer. What would happen to the community at that point? How would they react to one of the most respected and loved people being exposed as a horrible person? It can even potentially be worse than the GHS situation since Crazen will probably delete Bloodlust and all of his other projects before leaving, so there would be huge damages done to the demon list. People would need to find numerous new verifiers to rebeat Crazen's levels and come up with a way to deal with the emotional impact. Maybe even more things will happen. Large players leaving? Civil wars between supporters and enemies of Crazen? Even a return? Now I really want to see a GD theory video about this topic. It will probably be super controversial and be demonetized tho :(
It’s silly to me that people really thought 2.0 was hurtful to the game. Every update to Geometry Dash since it released has been nothing but beneficial to the game and the community. RobTop, as far as I know, has never implemented super controversial features or changes except for the physics changes in 2.2 which is incredibly recent. I know early 2.0 levels were kind of a mess but of course it’s gonna take the community awhile to learn new features in the editor, and guess what? Creators eventually did get a grasp on them and the game ended up fine.
It's kind of ironic that you mention that early 2018 was the dark time for Geometry Dash. Personally, I remember during that time that because of the lack of notable events happening, the gameplay community had started forming, especially with the advent of Ocular Miracle back in November 2017. Even from a dark place, a spark had already formed and the small flames of creativity had started from another corner that would roar into an inferno that it is today.
My gosh, for someone who doesn't play gd much (myself), it's crazy how long I've been invested in this community. I think your video really captures the essence of what makes it such a fascinating community. Thank you MatMart!
It’s ironic how out of all the levels Manix made that he would fear for having bad gp it would be Blade Of Justice, one of the few levels he’s made without bad gp.
Amazing video! I been playing gd since 2.0 but quitted the game multiple times... Watching this types of documentary video are very fun and really makes me have hope on the community. Im hightlly convinced im not going to quit again at this point, this game has trully one of the most interesting stories of a community
As someone who wasnt active on the community even on the times like these, the editing in this video is amazing! Although im not all too familiar with the GD community lore, knobbelboys victory on bloodlust will never be forgotten
It’s crazy because until a month ago I never realized Plasma Pulse Finale was verified before Bloodlust, that only shows how I like others started becoming inactive during that time of the game.
This is such an amazing video. You put so much into this video, and I love it so so much. One of my favorite parts is when you were switching between bloodlust and keeping the suspense for it while talking about other levels that were being rooted for Top 1. You executed that perfectly! I also love the ending when you made that smooth transition into getting people to play Geometry Dash. 10/10 content right here, thank you for this masterpiece
I remember I first started playing back when zodiac was top one, I got so excited when bloodlust got verified, crazy that now it's barely top 30 I think
I remember being so hyped, so exhilarated when bloodlust was verified. I know my hardest was like ToE 2 back then but to see that monstrosity of a level verified was a big feat
Amazing video, super interesting topic and well done edit! 2.2 will def. revolutionize the Game and hopefully it will bring back old players to compete again and bring back the amazing feelings we had when people were verifying extremely hard levels
the unforgettable journey... I still play geometry dash to this day. I've been inspired to play by youtubers I've been getting better at this game. Let lord make this game to never die.
The intro, it's actually one of the best I had ever seen. It tells a small summary of the documentary of how a mobile game rose to glory and fame, becoming a symbol of extremely hard games, eventually falling into the hands of the community who will decide the fate of this, and it's near death experience.
14:52 man I love not wanting to mention Crazens name! As if we can't all acknowledge the sea of scummy shit he did before the thing that he's most known for
Video is really nice! Reminds me of a Maximum video. The intro was really interesting and visually impressive. I like that you explained how Geometry Dash works at the beginning however my one piece of criticism is at 0:44 when you were showing how “it gets way worse”. Felt a bit cringy and out of place. And for new players who have never heard of BloodBath, they wouldn’t know how that gameplay you shown would be hard anyways.
Thanks for the critiques someguy. Imo the new players would know how it would be hard as I show footage of Riot failing. This was the only segment in the video more primarily meant to appeal to newcomers rather then veterans. I tried to keep it short for viewers like you though.
i remember back in 2015, i downloaded gd for the first time, i couldnt even beat stereo madness, so i quickly gave it up, i thought it was some hard random mobile game with 10 levels or something (i was on gd lite), when i stopped playing the game i completely forgot about it, i saw this video 4 months ago, and i decided to start again, i had many friends who played gd, since i got the full version now, i explored the search tab, i saw something i hadnt seen before, Demons? tons of times i wanted to quit the game, my friends told me that no matter how many times i died, i could always restart, i am still preety bad at gd, but now it seems extremely fun, and this video is the one that made me replay that "hard random mobile game" very well made, good job man
Haven't watched a GD video in a while, this one was really fun, I don't really enjoy just watching players beat levels that's gotten old for me but this video was pretty sick, thanks.
I've started playing gd since 2015 and then finally getting the full version in 2017, i grew up with gd and I'm proud for the community producing epic content Thanks DanTDM and cool video Mat

i remember vividly when Knobbelboy verified Bloodlust, but at that time i also had to take a break with GD because of boarding school, quitting in the process. I've gotten back to the game, and i really thought the game had died already, but it evolved beyond my expectations. It's hard to explain to people why we dropped the game back then, because the amount of things to do now is significantly different than back then. There was no GDDP, the hype behind new hardests started to dwindle, and overall it was just tiring to keep playing at that point. When I came back in mid 2020, i didn't even try to play the new levels, but instead went for Takeoff by Nasgubb. Such levels like it were more or less we're the standard back in 2017-2018 and that's where i found my interest back. It took a couple of weeks for me to see what had happened since i left and i gotta say, i'm immensely happy with how much progress we've had since then. Sad to see that Bloodlust was overthrown by Zodiac, but at least the hype for hardests started to climb back up, and with that, a new standard to levels. I'm doing Acu at the moment, and honestly it's one of the best levels i've played.
It's an ok video but to give realistic feedback, the whole premise is confusing. The idea that the GD Community would "almost vanish overnight" if Bloodlust was not completed is just clickbait and you give 0 evidence that the community was about to die, or that Bloodlust's completion "saved" anything (handpicked YT comments do not count). In truth, GD has been one of the most consistent games in terms of popularity level, and there was never a day it was remotely close to vanishing / dying. There's no evidence that extreme demons like Bloodlust or Fusion Z or BoJ had any impact on how future creators decided to improve their levels, so the entire epilogue is confusing and out of nowhere. In other words this whole timeline with different extreme demons being made / passed on to different verifiers is interesting but has little implications for the game itself. But the story-telling / animation is good, so I'll give you that.
Very well made video! I will be showing my kids one day as a retelling of the past
