On most watch bands there are arrows located on the inside of the band indicating in which direction the pin is to be removed. When reassembling replace the pin in the opposite direction of the arrow with the "split" portion of the pin going in last as this video shows . Also if a link does not have an arrow then that pin and link is to be considered non-adjustable.

  • @Darryl603
    @Darryl603 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Worked like a champ! I would try not to squeeze more than you have to with the pliers, so that you don't flatten the wider part of the pin that keeps it in the hole. One way is to look closely at the pin and put the pliers on the areas where you see the split, that way it won't flatten the keeper. I watched your video before trying it on my own and it helped to see what to do first. Thanks for posting,

There should be holes on both sides of the link.....if you can't get the pin out by using one hole,
use the hole in the other side of the link. These pins are not just a smooth piece of metal.....one end has a
bit of a flare to it, so when linking back up be sure the flared end goes into hole first. This takes
patience, but it's worth the effort....what's worse than a watch that flops around on your wrist!

I have a new watch that doesn't fit. So i went to a watch repair shop to have it resize but when i check my wallet i have no smaller bill so i went home and search for videos on how to do it. I came up to this and im so surprise that it wasnt hard to do. This video save me money. Thanks

Thanks so much. At the mall they charge 15.00 to adjust...

Considering that is a minute's labor at most, that is 900+ an hour... Fucking hell!
... I'd probably charge $5 because people would pay it, I'm such a scumbag :)

Thank you very much, i bought a cheap watch off ebay and it turned out to be too big. Going to a jeweler would have cost too much for this piece.

thank you so much this helped! i didn't have wood like that but if you use anything like a dresser or a desk that splits and has to flat surfaces between the crack it worked for me!

I’ve brought a new watch and its big so I’ve tried using pins but won’t budge. I’m not sure what do do. Are the pins stiff or something?

My stainless steel wristband came with the second method tool. Thanks to your how-to video, this process was a breeze. My watch now fits perfectly. Thank you for going out of your way to make this video and share it. I really appreciate it.

Thanks guy, just watched your video and took a couple notches off my watch and it fits perfectly! I did this without the wood and just had my husband hold the sides while I hammered lol made a couple tiny dents in the table but overall worked well. Thanks again!

Thanks man was able to do it thanks to your video! Btw you can also use a cardboard box if you don't have a piece of wood lying around, it also helps to make a little hole on the box for the pin to fall on it!

thank god there is TH-cam. I don't know how much I would have paid Victorinox to get something like that done, but I have finally done it as you showed. The only problem I had was putting the pin back (because I am stupid and kept putting it back in the wrong end). Now it fits me perfectly and I didn't spend a single dime

Multiple places in the mall were trying to charge me $20-$30 to adjust my strap, and the snobby Jewelers place that does it for free seems to be annoyed after you show up more than 2 times trying to dial in a perfect fit, so learning to do it myself is a huge win, thanks 😊

I demolished like 20 thumbtacks, broke 1 pin, but got the job done, it doesn't fit aswell as I'd like it to but it took me like 40 minutes just to hammer out 3 pins so I'm good with where it's at.
