Pwn, once again, amazing. You never fail to deliver detailed and clearly explained content. I was waiting to see if I could add anything to EITHER build's pro / con sections but I couldn't think of a single thing you left out and learned a bit myself. The tip to get cheap satchels, clutch. Harvesting, boring indeed! You've been instrumental in Outland's growth and helping new players, like I once was, get up and running. If you need anything at all, don't hesitate to ask.
One thing I would recommend to new player summoners or mages. Don't waste the new player casting stone on macroing. Kill stuff with your spells and summons, you will learn how to deal with mobs and get some decent gold in the newbie dungeon and thatt will help fuel your skill gains in the future. Treat the caster just like a dexxer when it comes to farming. The skills you learn in shelter can be extremely helpful if you actually play the game instead of just macroing. (Side note, it will make you understand and appreciate a little pinch of scripting later)
After playing as a Chiv Bard Dexxer for a few months and getting frustrated with being a loot pinata, I switched to a Backstab/Mugger and haven't looked back. Currently play 3 different types of backstab builds on two characters and it's tough to play other PVM templates.
Totally awesome !! I'm glad you found something you like. I personally can't do backstabber long term. The sittng around waiting is deathly boring for me . Some people really love it though and it's def great build for new players too!
I've been wanting to make this video forever, you nailed it. I advise new players to start the chiv bard with the intention of NOT getting to the end game. Use that character to learn the new map, get used to traveling and exploring (free rune book with chiv is game-changing), take it up a few tiers in aspect, then try out the necro. Your comment about being able to farm the top level of SSC is EXACTLY why I think that template sticks for most people. It's insanely powerful.
Both are pretty good, but If the new player never played any kind of UO shard before, I would advise a disc dexxer with chiv and magir res, just like I did, as you don't need to understand any system to get it going, the disc mats are dirt cheap, more dangerous against reds (if not in plate), and more fun than bards
If we are talking purely new player friendly then I don't think its really fair to be talking about 120 necro. 400k for the scrolls alone is not something a new player is going to accumulate quickly, I think it is better to discuss the viability of this template with only 100 necro, herding, SS, and then compare that to the bard template with only 100 chiv. For a new player 400k is 40+ full bag dungeon runs provided there is no loss of items from deaths/thieves/pks. Obviously if they get skill scrolls along the way they are going to have periodic increases in power but I would consider both of those builds to be complete upper-mid tier farming builds, definitely something to aspire for as a complete first build, but by the time they have the gold for either of these complete builds they could afford most viable builds on the server.
@@PwnstarrGaming So I will preface this by saying I am responding from the perspective of a newer player who has just gone through this journey and your videos have definitely helped me a lot. I am not going to pretend to know the ins and outs of every build because I just haven't been able to try them. I started out with your older mace/bard build and like you said I was bored out of my mind. The necro summoner is the more enjoyable build to play out of these two but I tend to agree with the others in the comments that the backstabber requires very little investment, the aspect is cheap, the skills above 100 are obviously nice and make a difference in damage but its still viable without skill scrolls, and the income boost black goods is massive if sold at the right times. If you drop arms lore or tracking from the build you showed in your backstabber video and replace it with forensic you also get the extra income from skinning as well. Plus its a super fun build once you get it off the ground.
@@johnebadass yes forensic is great. I personally kept arms lore for the massive dps increase of the disarm. Also the weight to worth ratio on leather isn't good. But a protip to counteract that would be if you do that carry a couple commodity deeds and you'll def come out on top. Also re using that leather for tailoring societies. Great stuff man! One of my favorite things about this game is the ability to customize your template and there is never no SET template to do things. Thank you for sharing
Hey John! Pwn addressed this earlier but I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring. You are 100% correct that the 120 is a bit if a reach. However you do not NEED 120 right away to make the necro build work. Its perfectly playable at a high level even without 120 in any of those skill. While you work those skills up over time you can use other skills to supplement it! Hope this helps clear things up :).
@@A-Straw-Hat 100% agree mate. After I got bored with mace/bard, I played the necro summoner with 100 skills for quite a while before I eventually had the gold to get my desired build. I wasn't trying to be critical of the build its self, just throwing my 2 cents in that if the video is focused on new player builds then I think the builds should focus on a 700 skill cap and 100 max individual skills and compare those builds, because that is more what i would consider a new player especially with the price of some of the skill scrolls.
I still think peace Dexer is the best start. If I was starting today I would roll peace dexxer (it’s basically free) and use that to fund whatever build I want to play end game once I learned the fundamentals of Outland
One that i think is a really cool and good template to begin with is chiv dexxer tamer. You will be able to tank, you will have bonus heals in case of emergencies and buffs to your own damage. Only con is mobs with area damage. It is very hard to kill them. Also damage is low.

I would only recommend a bard if the group you play with doesn't have one already. Summoners of any type will also have more survival ability from pks and if you do die its less of a gold loss since your loadout is cheaper.

straw hat death necro is specializing on the AOE and the Mummy/Earth Elemental's reflect, and the damage you'll be able to reflect is going to be capped with the upcoming changes. I haven't tested it since, so im not sure how much its gonna affect this kind of template
Hey Mike! In terms of reflect this change has no effect for new players. The nerf was a damage cap at 500 damage per single reflect. In this case, I never saw higher than 400 damage reflects in SSC2! The nerf was meant for people stacking multipliers in weird ways to maximize reflect. The death necro build is meant to utilize reflect but NOT to specialize in it.
@@A-Straw-Hat Pretty sure the 500 reflect cap is for player reflect. Pet reflect is capped at 100*control slots so 200 for the summoners which does nerf a fair amount
