I don't get why MMOs who want crafting to be part of their game don't understand that you need an economy of supply and demand. If you only have to replace your weapon every time you find something better, then there is very little demand. Take Eve Online. Every time you fight you risk losing your entire ship. In an MMORPG you need to lose your weapons and armor. All the time. And you can then have a debate if it should be player skill or character progression that affects who wins a fight. That you can just decide on by preference. You can make it so that a day 1 character can potentially beat a fully leveled character. Or the other way around. But if your gear doesn't drop when you die, your weapons never degrade, then you don't need weapons. If you need to buy a new weapon every day, then suddenly crafting makes sense. And the value added through crafting is both because of the level progression of the crafter, the manual labor & time put in by the player, and the ingredients consumed to craft the item. And to link up PvE to crafting, just have PvE only produce the ingredients you need for crafting. Not the actual items themselves. It is so stupid for a game to have a crafting system, but then have the best weapons drop through loot in PvE. What's the point! And this isn't even hard to figure out. People could have come up with this before Ultima Online even released. And then gold should just be a trading token. Why would you generate gold on monsters. Almost every game does that. Which is stupid. You just generate inflation. Yeah, you need a monetary policy in an MMO game. Who would have guessed. You can't generate infinite gold on all monsters that spawn over and over in all dungeons. And you can also not give a player 10 000 gold coins upon creating their account. And you probably want player time to be valuable in terms of gold. If you have a game that is 10 years old and your player base has been farming gold from monsters for 10 years, stockpiling it for that entire decade, then a new player entering the site with zero gold and only the ability for farm it off monster will never be able to afford anything else in the game. But if you can spend your time doing something. And then trade that 1 to 1 with the gold being stockpiled by other players, then you can quickly get some chunk of that gold. Independent from those monsters who have been farmed by everyone else on the server for 10 years.

Outlands is garbage. Avoid it. You're literally just content for the PKs. Unless you want to play a PK or thief you wont have any fun. The community is terrible too. Rude, kill-stealers who wont even rez a downed player. Mage dominates all PVP. Forget about any other build. If you aren't mage you arent' competing. Imbalanced. Broken. Just an all around negative experience. Doesn't matter that it's free: It's a terrible experience. Better FTP games and shards out there.

I have tracking, when a red gets 30 tiles from me I recall. I rarely do dungeons anymore unless I hang by a gate. 🎉

Okok, i never played UO, but iam instaling Outlands right now.

Honestly the state of Outlands right now is completely encouraging reds to start running dungeons in very large zergs. You have guys like this that respond and engage which is fine I welcome that on my PK but what he is really doing is crying in discord to his alliance to try and bring in 10 - 15 more while I'm stuck with a timer then by the time I kill one or two they can just go res restock and come back in and re-engage penalty free while the timer is still ticking for us mind you we are also not equipped to handle the mobs like these guys so we are also having to deal with 1 shot mechanics. Unless Owyen or Luthious make a change soon to balance things a little with that especially since now you cant even weaken someone to overburden them. I predict that a couple of the very large guilds may start getting together and just locking everyone out from farming dungeon

I’ve never understood it. If a red name appears on my screen my character automatically dies. Healing is disabled for me in PVP.

Ok but why no bushido, ninjitsu etc. I played pre fel uo, some other small shards, UO later and UOF. Im in outlands now. And found skills like bushido gave dexxers much more versatility and added skill. And i just wonder what so many UO players have against that. I say this as i like how outlands has updated all the skill. Yet leave these skills forgotten. Thanks!

As a pre AOS drachenfel player. Uo outlands has been good enough to keep me playing consistently for years and even got my friends to rebuild pcs just to play. It's a great game and a great new feel to a classic.
