    Nigel Pulsford played lead on this album and Razorblade suitcase. He's an underrated, really unique lead player and his bends, octaves, and dissonant screaming sounds really were critical to these albums hitting man. So damn catchy. The slide guitar on this song, for example. Agree about the production, but that was the style I think and intentional - for better or for worse.

    • @_bats_
      @_bats_ ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely agreed. Incredibly underrated guitar player. Not super flashy or technical, and didn't have that sort of nostalgic soulfulness of someone like Mike McCready - but so inventive and so many really cool textures that add an incredible amount to the band's sound.
      I think Bush in general are a really underrated band. The Nirvana comparisons overshadowed so much of their artistry, which is such a shame.

      YES! Comedown! I grew up on this album, I think I was 12 or 13 when it came out. MTV was always on in my house and I saw the video for this track when it was brand new. I immediately went out and bought the CD (or it might have even been a cassette and I got the CD later). To this day, Comedown is still probably my all time favorite track of theirs- Ryan would go absolutely batshit over the "groove" in that track ffs, it's infectious. That said, Sixteen Stone is one of those rare albums that doesn't really have a single bad or skippable track. Machinehead, Glycerine, Little Things...they had so many hits from that one album alone.

    One thing about the change in intensity of the music that you guys are talking about in alternative--and rock in general--is that it allows for a period of building intensity as the listener anticipates that "wall of sound" to follow. The first time or two that you listen to a song you don't sense that anticipation because you don't know what's coming next. But as you become familiarized with the song that anticipation creates such a tension that you're ready to explode along with the music as it launches you to the heavens.

    I would react to "Comedown" on this same album which I think you would enjoy. I seen bush when they toured with this album and they were extremely entertaining and they sounded just like the CD. I also seen them 3 years ago on the 25th anniversary of this album and they performed every song off this album and they were just as good. His energy was crazy and the band was very loud but crystal clear. Love the entire album.

    Just saw them live in Battle Creek MI, Gavin ran up the back rafters while singing one of the songs. Ran right past me in the nosebleed section. Was wild, guys a master performer. The band sounds great live

    You guys really need to do a Big Wreck song...
    "Ghosts" if you want bluesy grooves
    "Ladylike" if you want rock groove
    "Inhale" for something heavy
    Lots of choices. Most underrated band of the late 90's still doing it now.

    Bush is a progressive/alternative rock band...Sixteeen Stone was a masterful daybeiw album. They have an intensity about them that I appreciate...their grit and tone is spot-on for what they are trying to accomplish...

    I remember this song playing in an NBA skit during timeouts. Mutombo waving his finger in a shot blocking montage while Gavin Rossdale screams "I don´t think so"

    I love Bush even though some of their I don’t know when they are talking about really 🤣🤣🤣. But this album is dope. Glycerine, Come Down, Everything Zen, Little Things, Machine Head… the whole album is just hit after hit.

      I'm glad some finally admits to not knowing what they're talking about. I feel like the band doesn't even known what he's singing about. Lol. They were my favorite beside NIN back in the day.

      @@SB-pl8fc yeah some of their songs I just have no idea what they’re talking about 😂😂😂. Like “Come Down” some of the lyrics I don’t get what he means… but I know every word and sing it With my whole heart lol
