    Welcome back!
    I don't even remember when I subscribed but it was 2 or 3 years ago while I was looking for upgrades to an obscure tremolo unit. I figured you'd be back eventually.
    This build came out great!
    Can't wait to see your next project

    I’ve rebuilt a couple of RG’s in the last few years and this channel (edit: and mostly this series) was an absolute godsend of good advice and ideas. So glad to see this project end, and will follow your adventures from here!

    I usually leave the ball end on and use it as a lock on the tuner. Then cut the other end right about where the fine tuners are. Then clamp and tune it up.

    Here's a better way to mark the holes: After you align them, take the drill bit you are going to use to drill the holes (I use a #40, which is .098"), because you want to use a drill bit that is the diameter of the shank, NOT the threads, take the drill bit in your fingers, place it in the hole and put a drill START(basically you are "spotting the hole) by turning it and actually start to drill the hole, slightly. You can never go wrong this way.

But first I got curious to my guitar it's Aspire brand we have the same shape guitar but not the color mine is blue and I bought it for 4,700Php Here in Philippines that was my first expensive guitar.This is faith because you post this episode in the exact day today where I want to change my guitar pickup. I was cleaning the stain on my Pickup I thought the muriatic acid is good to clean the stain of guitar pickup but it's not. The gear for SweepPicking is not that good anymore so I deside to buy a new one. Luckily I found your lesson I just dowload all of your tutorial I want to memorize all before I buy pickup I'm still strugling in the wiring part but I keep rewind I hope I get the right instalation I want to show you if I'm done changing my Guitar Pickup soon. How about a drilling holes in a guitar body tutorial? I can't find any good one in the internet and i think you would do an excellent job with it.

    Why would you replace the tuners on a guitar with a locking nut?

  • @GlorifyGodInEverything
    @GlorifyGodInEverything 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oo, i've always clamped the neck string locks sideways instead of the right way, just because I liked the look of them sideways lol. Oh well, i'll keep doing them sideways, no issues yet haha.

    • @KyleP133
      @KyleP133 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're also curved to match the slope of the nut that the strings are on, so when you turn them sideways, you're squeezing them towards each other one specific spot in the nut. It may still work but it's not ideal for several reasons.

  • @bryanbrewer4272

    locking tuners don't lock the strings. the lock only affects string change's.

    An outside question. Can an Edge Zero be put on a GRX70QATEB?

  • @bradlycarlisle3547
    @bradlycarlisle3547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have to get a specific pack of locking tuners ? Or does any work?

  • @TomCouture
    @TomCouture 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi! I have a 1998 RG270DX that I'm hoping to restore. Do you have any idea what the locking nut specs are?! I can't seem to find what it is anywhere :(
    Also - which Gotoh Tuners did you use?

    • @jhmusic1
      @jhmusic1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you haven't found your answer yet, the nut specs for the 270DX are 400mm (15.75") radius and 43mm wide. You can buy them from ibanezrules, also those tuners are Gotoh SG381s

    Just got an Ibanez guitar with locking nuts and some kind of whammy bar fine tuners but this thing will not stay in tune what's your advice?

    Shouldn't the tuners be staggered?

    • @azathothic
      @azathothic ปีที่แล้ว

      Only if you have the straight headstock like on a Fender the slanted break on an Ibby you don't use staggered.

    • @xDTHx

      It has a floyd rose string retainer bar which is basically a string tree.

  • @naptymeslounge555
    @naptymeslounge555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    LOL THATS NOT HOW YOU INSTALL STRINGS AND FOR 2 THEY MAKE LOCKING TUNERS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE DRILLING HOLES IN YOUR HEADSTOCK
