Hey! Wanted to thank you for all these tech tip videos!! I have always been just as interested in the academics as I am the physical part of diving. With that said I HAVE AN EPISODE REQUEST! As someone getting back at the diving after almost 10 years I was hoping to find a episode where you cover just that. From some of the refresher training thoughts to tips for inspecting and reusing older equipment (like the stuff I kept in my high humidity Florida garage!). How to get rust off the blade of your knife, checking for wetsuit dry rot, hey is that regulator with spider webs good anymore, do hoses go bad, etc... Again thank you for all you do ... This is incredibly useful stuff!!! Happy to be back in the game and your videos were a big part of that!
I think I can work up something about that. I have helped many divers get back into diving after a long absence. No reason why not. Scuba is as easy as falling in ........ almost! Good luck and welcome back. Alec
Hi Alec, another great video by you & Kevin. When I’m diving in my Drysuit, rather than using drysuit gloves which I find too bulky at times, I use Lycra gloves when donning my tight fitting 7mm wet suit gloves which, thanks to the Lycra material, extend easily over my fingers, hand & latex wrist seal of my drysuit. Works for me in the moderately cold water we Northern hardy divers face in early Spring & late Fall (40F to 50F).
Before the second day of ocean dives during my Open Water Diver course, my instructor went around pouring hot water into everyone's wetsuit boots. Excellent idea, really helped with the cold. Didn't help put them on though!
Not just in the north... I live in Southern California -- the climate is warm but the ocean is pretty darn cold. We wear 7mm full wetsuits and drysuits. I actually like wearing a wetsuit better than a drysuit (have both), but I hate putting on the wetsuit. I'll have to try these.
Wetsuits were invented in California. A lot of people don't know that the ocean there is cold. I too prefer a wetsuit. It doesn't feel like diving when you're in a drysuit. Take care. Alec
I haved used them for a while ... love them ... l actually have a few pair ... make dawning and removing a wet suit or dry suit a whole lot easier.... l have even put a set on my hands while putting a wet suit on (remove after arm in)... makes life a ton easier...
Under my wetsuits I usually wear spandex pants for 2 reasons that are nearly the same. 1. So my wetsuits can easily slide up my legs 2. When I get my wetsuit up most of the way but need to pinch areas around my calves knees and thighs for that extra inch or so. That pinch wont pinch my leg hair.
I haven't finished all the tech tip videos yet, but have you made a video about using non-"SCUBA" equipment wile SCUBA diving? I am thinking about some form fitting "cut-resistant" gloves (Spartacus Hi Vis Gloves). Then I was like, "I bet there are several things people use when diving that isn't 'SCUBA' equipment. I wounder if Mr. Peirce talks about that?"
Not yet Erikk as almost everything related to diving is purpose designed/built for scuba. Other than warm water gloves or basic brass clips, very little is outside the scuba world. It's a good idea though.
@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter Ok. Not being very experience in diving, I wasn't sure there is really much use for non-SCUBA specific equipment. And with the nature of the sport I figured there would be little room for things like that. But, people can be creative sometimes. And there is a lot of people that dive.
Hi Alec. cressi makes fin socks which are basically the same thing. The thermal ones is a neat idea as well as the original! Now I can wear socks and saddles and not look like an idiot (well not as much of one anyways) at the beach. these come in handy because those darn wetsuits always shrink over the winter ?? take care Owen m
@@ScubaGirl68 those are even harder to put on (latex) on wet hands. Simple Polyester gloves (slippery and re-usage) might do - just ordered a $1 pair on ebay :)
@@alaind831 The cheap gloves where I am (UK) are made from thin plastic. They don't provide any warmth but do allow your wet gloves to slide on easily. P.s. I do realise that we are deliberately taking another plastic item into the water this way.
alec if you find yourself in the states or anyone on here stop by muncie,in and we have a old quarry the we dive at called philips outdoor center a reasonable fee and passes to buy as well and the local dive club i am apart of we put things in there like a car plane boat and more we even have bluegills in there and other fish as well that is even used for public safety diving training and the county sheriff comes out there as well for there training as well
my local dive store took an old tank and converted it into a lamp they screwed the bulb where the valve goes and the cord threw the tank and then the cord went out with a hole drilled out the back towards the bottom of the tank
Why not?? Probably looks pretty good. Have you seen my video about the bells made form scuba tanks? It's on my other channel, Alec Peirce at the Ranch. Alec

That's exactly what these p[roducts are for. Good thinking.
Alec
Great idea for cold water. I sometimes use plastic grocery bags to get the suit on of course that’s the extent of their usefulness
That's been tried many times. Looks goofy but it works.

We do that on ice diving courses too. Thanks for sharing.
Lake Erie diver here, this sounds great. I'll have to try a pair of the warm ones. Thanks Alec.
They just might make your diving a bit easier.

I struggle to put on 7mm booties on these sound like it would be a solution. I think the split toe works for the split toe booties.
Another great gear tip, Alec, thank you! These sound really interesting. Gonna pick one up.
Boots are always the hardest part of getting suited up.
If you struggle with your boots, these may help.

I have not seen them before but I wish I had them years ago.

Just like me using my mom's pantyhose 50 years ago!!!

Hi Alec, I enjoyed this wetsox episode for colder water diving. Be well to both of you guy. Bye
Thanks Mark. Good to hear from you again.
Alec
Awesome video again Alec and good ideas ... I'll have to try that
Thanks Joel. Good to hear from you again.

Never stop posting
OK!

We sell a lot of wetsuits in the spring.
Those long Canadian winters are hard on neoprene that always seems to shrink.
Alec
will have to see if I can find gloves version - always a PITA to put on wet 3-5mm gloves. rest is drysuit so not a problem.
I'd guess these are available online IF your LDS doesn't have them.
Alec
You could try using those plastic gloves you find at the diesel pumps ;)

I know about that quarry. I have some good friends that live close by and dive there regularly.
I will look forward to it.
Alec
Great videos as always!!
Thanks Michael.
Alec
Nice one Alec
Thanks Dion. Good to hear from you again.

Hi Alec, My wife loves your videos. I think they're ok also.
Your wife has very good tastes.
Alec
matter a fact I always wear a pair of 3mm socks underneath my boots. It helps so much
Just a bit thick maybe. Obviously your boots are not too tight.
I bet your feet are warm.
Alec
I have them very good part of your gear
:) you're awesome.
A little louder please Nikki. My kids are listening.
Alec
Cool
Thanks VP.
