My Most Surprising Aman Stay Ever: Not What I Expected

  • The Aman-i-Khas, part of my Best Hotels & Resorts in India series, is a place that redefines glamping, with only 10 exclusive tents, next to Ranthambhore National Park, known for its Bengal tigers. This secluded camp combines colonial-style “batman” service with raw, natural surroundings. Each tent is its own experience, and my stay was full of surprises-not all of them what I expected.

The video captures it all: my initial impressions, an offbeat jungle dinner, and a setting that’s both luxurious and rugged. While some of the design choices threw me, the location’s atmosphere and service create a unique vibe that few places can match. Highlights include a cozy campfire, a not-too-fancy pool that feels perfectly scaled for 10 tents, and the wild sounds of the jungle, which make every moment feel immersive; but only if you do one important thing, that I reveal in the video.
Located about three hours from Jaipur Airport, Aman-i-Khas offers a central dining area, a separate alfresco restaurant, a spa tent, library, and a small gym. The resort will also arrange an exclusive safari experience and other local activities. Rates, which cover all meals and soft drinks, range from $1,300 to $2,300 per night, depending on the season. This is glamping Aman-style-highly curated, with hints of colonial flair, ideal for those seeking an escape into the wild.
