    Hi again from Japan. Always a wonderful time when watching a Kingfisher cruise; always a heartbreak when the video is over... We got to extend the enjoyment by watching Paul's Kate Louise cruise video, though... Looking forward to the next one. Thank you so much for your generosity in making these available to us, especially to those of us in the cold, dark time of snowy winter.

      Thanks Mike. Glad these films keep you warm. Kate Louise is a big inspiration for me, Paul makes such great films. Take care. J

    Pretty adventurous sail on the first day, and what a great place to camp!

      Thanks Dennis- it was a great weekend. Probably shouldn’t be mucking around with cameras in a squall but I couldn’t help it!

    Fantastic video Josh, I hope the cracked ribs is not serious and the underwater shots were great as well as the action man stuff. Thanks for making it a great weekend ,Cheers Paul

      Thanks Paul and thanks for the extra footage in the film. I laugh every time I hear that little guffaw you make as you sneak up behind me!

    Great adventure, thanks Josh. You blokes really pull a crowd, and what a magnificent fleet!

      Its been building up for a couple of years now. I think the videos help to get people to come along - when we don't scare them with squalls. Take care Tony.

    Thanks Josh, I'm really enjoying your videos. This was rather weather for all tastes.
    I hope any repairs Kingfisher needs are not to costly or time consuming.
    Best wishes
    Al

      Hi Al. Thanks for your kind words. Yes the La Nina weather system means we have had constant wet weather since October last year. It alternates rapidly from blue sky to what you saw in the video. Can be frustrating but it also keeps the powerboats away!

    How fantastic to find your video. I have fond memories of a heron having had to haul one vertically up a 12 foot ladder after the skipper misjudged the tide and we were cartopping home to Glastonbury.

      Great story- that’s one hell of a tidal range. Thanks for your comment. Take care, Josh

    Looks like fun was had by all! I appreciate the brief look at quite a masterful heaving-to at around 2:55.

    • @DinghyCruisingKingfisher
      @DinghyCruisingKingfisher  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Roger. Wasn’t actually trying to show off the heave to, more the change of weather. Stupid thing is I was already wet when I stopped to put rain pants on. With the warm temperatures you avoid putting the layers on, until it’s too late. Thanks for watching the vid. Josh

    Great video Josh. I am sad to have not been able to make it, but I don’t know if I would have survived that squall 😱

    Another great video, and great adventure by the looks. What size outboard do you have on Kingfisher, how much does it weigh and does it make a noticeable difference to handling when not in use? Thanks and fair winds.

    • @DinghyCruisingKingfisher
      @DinghyCruisingKingfisher  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, its a 3.3hp two stroke. You can't buy these anymore. It weighs 12kg, and the only restriction in sailing performance is its weight. I carry 60kg of cruising gear including that motor - so its like two people on the little boat!

    I've used spotted gum on the keel of my Ilur, jeez it's tough! I reckon it's heavier than water, but tough and strong as all get out.

      Cheers Andy. Assuming you are in Aus? It would be good to see your Ilur - are you on Dinghy Cruising Australia on Facebook? - a few photos would be great!

    How has KF pulled up after her injury? Asking for her biggest fan, who watched this belatedly and is devastated!

    When wind is measured by authorities, it’s standardised for 10m height above water. So if you measured 26 knots on a hand held anemometer, the correction factor for 10m is almost a third more. So you possibly had 35 knots there unless the measuring anemometer was at mast top on one of the dinghies.

      @DinghyCruisingKingfisher  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it was nuts what ever the breeze! The little heron handled it well, what you don't see is that I went for a sail under jib while it was blowing - but you just can't film the crazy stuff! Thanks for your comment, Josh

      @@DinghyCruisingKingfisher I'm actually watching kate-louise as well. I built a goat island skiff last spring and someday will probably build either a pathfinder or a navigator. I really envy your raid group it looks like you have the best time. In my area there isnt such a group but I may found one! great content thanks.

    With all due respect…Us Victorians say that the only good thing to come out of Sydney is the Hume Hwy. 😎
    Just kidding.
    I would love to live up there and hang out you with blokes.
    Perhaps a Raid on the Gippsland Lakes is in order. 👍🏻👍🏻 Keep up the great work Josh and Kate Louise.
