I loved it at the Severn Bridge Parkrun! Catch it on a windy day and your Saturday is destroyed, but on a calm day and you’re on cloud 9! Great running as always bud, that sub 20 is on the horizon!! Remember, a (pack of) biscuit a day, keeps the doctor away 😂
Great video - did this one today and the 2nd K is tough especially in the wind - definitely worth saving a bit for the 3rd and 4th K. It's a great course though.
Good effort considering you have run a Marathon PB + Race to the Stones + your jaunt across the Cotswolds in recent months 👍 I am going to have a crack at my first Sub 20 parkrun attempt this year on Saturday. My best ao far this year is 20:14 but I haven't given any race or parkrun full beans since qualifying for Boston at Amsterdam Marathon last October if I am honest. Ran approx 19:30 the last two years and 18:50 right at the back end of 2021. I was hoping to be targeting a Sub 40 at either Run Norwich 10k in 2 weeks or Vitality London 10k two weeks after but know that's extremely unlikely given my current training indicators and that I may have to see what shape I am in come November to give that a real go. I ran Ipswich Twilight 10k about 4 weeks ago and finished with a 41:32 whwn aiming to run between 40:50 and 41:40 so I have known that I am a way off at the minute. 10k has always been my nemesis and never been able to run one well.
@@itsonandy Sure that the Sub 20 will come soon for you. Just pick your days to attack it. No point going all out for it on the wrong course or hot or windy days. Big test of my current fitness level again this Sunday at Run Norwich (10k). I bought a new pair of cheat shoes which I tested for the first time in a proper workout last night - Metaspeed Sky Paris. They are a shoe which absolutely fly on the right feet. The decision to be made is whether I should wear the Sky Paris or a brand new pair of Endorphin Elite which I have boxed up. I have been used to racing in the Endorphin Elite for the last 16+ months and it would definitely be the safer option after I took a tumble trying out my other new pair of shoes (asics Tri Noosa 16) this Wednesday. If I am feeling that fall at all on Sunday still then the Elite would be the safer option, but I still feel like a bit of a gamble over 10k distance.
That's a great time on a course like that. You need to get yourself down to the Stratford park run it certainly worked for MARM I'm signed up for Valencia, might see you out on the course
Just as a tail-wind never quite gives you back what the headwind took, you'll never pay your debts on the downhill that you accrued on the uphill. Brave effort to be going all-out on a course with any elevation, let alone one with a substantial uphill drag. Actually, I had a thought - you could find a downhill 5k route and blast that just to feel the speed and leg turnover. Obviously you wouldn't claim it as a PB (at least not without acquiring a #DownhillWanker tag) but it'd make an interesting spectacle to see how fast you could go while gravity-doping.
Gravity doping and a downhill wanker, what a brilliant comment 😂👏🏻 I try an easier course on my next time out in the next episode. I think you're right though, what on earth was I thinking doing that course...
In trying to rationalise your run, which is difficult at the best of times, I genuinely can’t believe that you’ve not mentioned the 100k you ran about 2 weeks earlier! Surely you can’t hope to be 100% so soon? Another good vid. As I’ve commented before, I’m a very very similar pace to you and would love to go sub 20. Following with interest!
Hey Andy. That was a hard run but as allways you are satisfied and maybe this weight is the clue you need to change if you are motivated. You look good anyway Andy------I think and I think Laura also think that. Inga Dk.
“I just need to pop into B&M…”
Words that frequently chill me.

I love how different us runners are. I could never dream of sub-20 park run, but Stones was sub 14 for me. We all seem to do best in different ways.

I seemed to be very lucky getting minimal wind that day!
Great vid , a really liked that parkrun , plan on going back at some point . The incline certainly is a surprise if you haven’t done your homework 😁
I knew it was there and it still hurt me 😂 thank goodness I had something left by the time I turned round. Awesome place to run isn't it!

I was lucky when I did it, hardly any wind at all!
When i ran this i had the same experience. The hard effort up the hill made the downhill really tough. Plus a gale force crosswind on the day!

Thanks Mark, could definitely feel the ultras in my legs still by this point.
