I anticipate people being surprised by her hypercarry dmg output

Classifying Topaz as either a debuffer or a dps is just ultimately wrong, same as Welt. Both of them just have the flexibility of being played either way, depending on your account, one will be true over the other. There really just has to be an inbetween category, OR for them to be ranked on both categories independently, and compare a main dps build to a support dps build

Now, eventhough all follow-ups are buffed on that one target, she ends up making most use of the vulnerability in most scenarios (Jing Yuan can max it too in some cases), so that too benefits her dps mostly. There are good arguments for both classifications, but like you said, only classifying her as one or the other is very misleading
while it is expected for Yanqing to deals more damage in shorter time than Welt. i think the comfy of locking enemies should be taken for consideration as well.
Yep that’s the main thing here - the welt team took almost no damage and absolutely were never in danger The action cutting on constant delays on enemies really nullifies any amount of pressure they could put on your sustains as well

I think the fact that welt barely lost by 1 turn is actually a win for him over yangqing, due to the fact that welt's run was very clean and the team was never in any danger (more auto-friendly), while yangqing's require lots of luck on not getting hit, as well as relying on passive rng to hit when needed

Yanqing is strong enough to handle the content in the game, but is generally overshadowed and bullied by jingliu. Clara is kind of weird when it comes to dps showdowns, but I want to see it anyway, as she is really strong, especially with the current turbulence. Maybe have clara vs jing yuan, the follow-up attackers that have their main damage source be agnostic of their own speed. I’m personally a nerd, so I like numbers, charts and whatnot.
I think that your commentary is quite good! I don't think you're talking too much. If anything, I find your own commentary and input quite engaging and interesting! The play-by-play and the behind-the-thought-process styles don't really have to be separate. You've done a great job of making both angles combine in a cohesive way that feels balanced and informative. To be more specific, Blade and Jingliu vs Topaz and one of the follow up units of ur choice. We've seen alot hypercarry showdowns (not a complaint btw, keep up the good work) so I'd be intrested to see these rather new comps and how they stack against each other.

What's interesting about specifically yanqing and welt is that both get a rather sizable boost to their usability and just overall dmg at e2. Both with the setup u used can get 2 turn ults almost always if u use er rope which is insane cause yanqing can ult mobs without a care in the world and welt can perma CC which isn't needed now but it's still hilarious and who knows in the future his cc might be invaluable.
I’ve been wanting e2 welt for so long - eventually once we’ve played enough we’ll all have access to some of the good early eidolons and I’m sure that especially for welt’s case since his is so good, more people will give him a shot

I really like your explanations during each segment and I think you're not talking too much, as you said in the video. I prefer someone explaining to me what's happening than just watch a video in complete silence. I have a Yanqing E1 'cause some 50/50 loses and, because of that, I didn't play him much, but it's good to know that he can handle these tough challenges, like MoC 10. Keep up with the good work. 🐧

welt is perfect in dual dps setups with non sp hungry units like blade and jingliu. his invulnerability debuff might not be as valuable as pela or sw, but he makes it up by using his personal damage. also if i remember correctly, out all of the standard units, his eidolons are the strongest.
i think the commentary is good. you can definitely tone it down if you dont have anything to say sometimes but I think its good and the insight is helpful. The dps meter is nice. I appreciate how informative you try to be and even noting caveats like the memory turbulence
i feel like pela helped welt quite a lot too thanks to her ult applying aoe def shred - i tried yukong as well but didn't have as much success (also skill point generation suffered a lot)
@@artumbo yeah but then it is aoe vs single a common thing , but the ice res debuf is a more specific buff only for the ice character. I know you wanted to do as fast as possible but maybe for a more "correct" dps showdown its better to not have any buffs or debuffs ? Since some characters benefit diferently by the support choice.
Thanks for the video! I have E1 Welt, I want to build him, I really do.. but lack of proper lightcone for him really kills the whole idea. I was thinking about saving for his store signature, but then again this also feels like a huge waste of pulls, even compared with other lightcones.
I don’t have welt yet but I do have Yanqing and I have enjoyed using him he’s a good CRIT character. However I did use welt for the trial going on right now and his damage was pretty insane but my Yanqing isn’t leveled up yet as I only started like yesterday.
While YQ has cleared this faster, I would give this one to Welt. Welt thanks to his debuffs had a much safer run without fear of having casualties, unlike YQ who was lucky he didn't get attacked at 10:15 which would have resulted in killing the run.
nice. Im a big fan of welt main dps for very long now, he just does so much by himself. the only catch is I don't have a proper sustainer so I have to pair Natasha with another shielder, killing Welt's Atk potential

I really want Welt. If I don’t have him by the time I hit the 300 pulls on Standard, I’m going to pick him up. It’s impressive to see him keep up with a Hunt unit like this. He might be Nihility, but he feels like Destruction in disguise. This showcase is making me reconsider and actually build the Yanqing I have.

it's funny to me, yanqing and welt were my first two 5* on the welcome banner. and they keep coming back as i've lost all but two 50/50's lol. e3 welt, e1 yanqing.
what do you think about a yanqing, welt, pela, march team? i think with the constant imprisons and freezes, yanqing would be able to dish out a decent amount of uninterrupted damage. could march solo sustain (especially with E6) when paired with welt?
the problem with welt is his sp usage, ideally you want to use his E every turn, making him SP neg, this severely damages his utility. other dps characters that can afford having welt on the team are clara and blade i think, but these characters have anti synergy with welt due to his slow and imprison
people claiming "but yanqinq is a dps", kids, welt is a dps too lmao, he has some utility on the kit but if you use welt as a support he just underpeforms mosot of the time,at best he can subdps in certain teams but he would rather just have the "hyper carry" set ups because...uh...HE IS A DPS lool
Welt, to me is very comfortable unit while being a dps and yanqing, being a hunt character does offer more damage but, is very squishy. Both are very similar, in conclusion

wait pela has 105 base speed so with speed boots alone you get 130 - maybe you didnt level it up fully then 2 more instances of speed in substats will get your 134+

i woundt say its heard fought as yanqing was going to win either way as in this showcase he's buffed more, the MoC does its effect ON ULT and FOLLOWUP which makes yanqing always gona be better no matter if welt had a aoe ult
as you covered though weld ended up losing in general he had a huge survivability increase with imprison so that in and of itself is worth it in many scenarios. also as both of them are men in honkai impact i can safely say welt clears soley because he didn’t help plot to assasinate fu hua in the past and didn’t get the little boy transformation (except in his e6 art but it’s cool so it doesn’t count)
Man i only have 31 pulls remaining till 300 so i can grab my guaranteed Welt! He's the reason i started playing and i haven't managet to pulleven one copy of him so far😢
what is pela's build and lc omg i have almost have the same yanqing team to finally finish moc10 with 3 stars. mine is gepard, huohuo, pela, yanqing. with pela with a quantum set for more def shred. i had to give up tingyun for survivabily bc my gepard/huohuo cant solo sustain yet. so far, this team with yanqing can do 100k ❤
As a welt haver there is one thing i can say about welt and that is his build is the most most most complicated. U need spd,EHR,CRIT,ATK%,ER. even jingyuan which is one of the most demanding built is laughable in front of welt. I currently use SW event lightcone on him since i can outright ignore EHR and focus on the rest. Currently i slap him on atk% rope. Most people would probably recommend ER. But with ER my welt dmg is wet noodles u can even say it's non existent. Ult+skill on 1 enemy and only deal 2% of the boss HP makes me wanna cry. But with atk% at least he can dish out 8% of the boss HP with just skill. It's not great but at least it can contribute.
no specific reason honestly - but ive had her hovering around that high 170 for a while now since the jing yuan memecrafting vid LOL (3 actions per cycle for the 2T JY ult with passkey)
While I still believe that Yanqing is the better dps I got to say that this comparison was quite in Yanqins favour 1. the Memory turbulence which triggers on both ult and follow up benefits Yanquin more, as for one his ult contributes more to his total damage than welts and secondly another part of his damage comes from follow up attacks, while welt only profits with his ults 2. Pela reduces the enemies ice RES which only Yanqing profits from. 3. The teamup had to much surviveability for Welt, not a single time fell hp of the team with him below 80%. This team "budget" could have gone to a different character that deals damage/provides buffs In conclusion, I still agree about the result that Welt is the worse dps but that is not because he is the worse unit, but because Welt is not really a dps character but instead a balance between dps, support and survivability, which makes Welt perform worse when he is the only damage dealer of the team. On a site note both Charakters work better together than separated Welts slow down reduces the cases in which Yanqing's soulsteel is broken The dmg bonus Welts ultimat provides profits Yanqing more than himself the combination of Welt's imprison and Yanquin's freeze can effectively put an enemie completely out of the equation
Don't see the point of these "VS" when most character are at different Eidolons... you either go E0 or E6 to compare em. And I mean all, even the healers are affecting this outcome when they have X Eidolon
Soulsync being unactive for a while because of no shielder is definitely an exaggeration, it's always up when you needed it. don't need to force yourself to use Gepard, Huohuo is better for his energy imo.
Exactly! Nowadays with sustain options that can offer more value than just keeping your team alive, it’s worth losing soulsteel sync for a skill or two but you’ll ALWAYS have it active for your ult

This MoC and pelas ice res debuff helps yanqing a lot , maybe welt would win or at least be more close without this 2 buffs for yanqing there.
i feel like pela helped welt quite a lot too thanks to her ult applying aoe def shred - i tried yukong as well but didn't have as much success (also skill point generation suffered a lot)
@@artumbo yeah but then it is aoe vs single a common thing , but the ice res debuf is a more specific buff only for the ice character.
I know you wanted to do as fast as possible but maybe for a more "correct" dps showdown its better to not have any buffs or debuffs ? Since some characters benefit diferently by the support choice.
Very cool video. What I gather is that both are good for what they need to do. YQ slightly stronger damage, but Welt is so much more comfy

Thanks for the video! I have E1 Welt, I want to build him, I really do.. but lack of proper lightcone for him really kills the whole idea. I was thinking about saving for his store signature, but then again this also feels like a huge waste of pulls, even compared with other lightcones.

The way Welt can keep up to a Hunt Character is amazing.
I don’t have welt yet but I do have Yanqing and I have enjoyed using him he’s a good CRIT character.
However I did use welt for the trial going on right now and his damage was pretty insane but my Yanqing isn’t leveled up yet as I only started like yesterday.
Yanqing was the first 5 star I got and carried me through the game. Really enjoy the videos, keep up the great work!

While YQ has cleared this faster, I would give this one to Welt. Welt thanks to his debuffs had a much safer run without fear of having casualties, unlike YQ who was lucky he didn't get attacked at 10:15 which would have resulted in killing the run.

nice. Im a big fan of welt main dps for very long now, he just does so much by himself. the only catch is I don't have a proper sustainer so I have to pair Natasha with another shielder, killing Welt's Atk potential

Tbf if you count enemy turns instead of cycles, Welt probably wins. That doesn't help with MoC but it's great in most other content

what do you think about a yanqing, welt, pela, march team? i think with the constant imprisons and freezes, yanqing would be able to dish out a decent amount of uninterrupted damage. could march solo sustain (especially with E6) when paired with welt?
Yeah welt can easily keep the opponents under wraps while march protects everyone - this team can work!
have you tried using welt in a dual dps setup? he does good damage and has a lot of utility in his kit
the problem with welt is his sp usage, ideally you want to use his E every turn, making him SP neg, this severely damages his utility.
other dps characters that can afford having welt on the team are clara and blade i think, but these characters have anti synergy with welt due to his slow and imprison
haven't tried it but yeah it's tough with his skill point needs
people claiming "but yanqinq is a dps", kids, welt is a dps too lmao, he has some utility on the kit but if you use welt as a support he just underpeforms mosot of the time,at best he can subdps in certain teams but he would rather just have the "hyper carry" set ups because...uh...HE IS A DPS lool

Welt, to me is very comfortable unit while being a dps and yanqing, being a hunt character does offer more damage but, is very squishy. Both are very similar, in conclusion

Wait he was kidding when he said his pela is pretty realistic right? Like my brother in arms my pela is 128 spd and that because shes running 4 set wind so she gets her rotation faster than tingyun
wait pela has 105 base speed so with speed boots alone you get 130 - maybe you didnt level it up fully
then 2 more instances of speed in substats will get your 134+

i woundt say its heard fought as yanqing was going to win either way as in this showcase he's buffed more, the MoC does its effect ON ULT and FOLLOWUP which makes yanqing always gona be better no matter if welt had a aoe ult
while id agree, yanqing's attacks are locked into st so welt actually had more instances of follow up from his ult
as you covered though weld ended up losing in general he had a huge survivability increase with imprison so that in and of itself is worth it in many scenarios.
also as both of them are men in honkai impact i can safely say welt clears soley because he didn’t help plot to assasinate fu hua in the past and didn’t get the little boy transformation (except in his e6 art but it’s cool so it doesn’t count)
The extra survivability is very underrated and I’m sure in harder content he’s got even more value (and especially in swarm)
Man i only have 31 pulls remaining till 300 so i can grab my guaranteed Welt! He's the reason i started playing and i haven't managet to pulleven one copy of him so far😢

i have almost have the same yanqing team to finally finish moc10 with 3 stars. mine is gepard, huohuo, pela, yanqing. with pela with a quantum set for more def shred. i had to give up tingyun for survivabily bc my gepard/huohuo cant solo sustain yet. so far, this team with yanqing can do 100k ❤

As a welt haver there is one thing i can say about welt and that is his build is the most most most complicated. U need spd,EHR,CRIT,ATK%,ER. even jingyuan which is one of the most demanding built is laughable in front of welt. I currently use SW event lightcone on him since i can outright ignore EHR and focus on the rest. Currently i slap him on atk% rope. Most people would probably recommend ER. But with ER my welt dmg is wet noodles u can even say it's non existent. Ult+skill on 1 enemy and only deal 2% of the boss HP makes me wanna cry. But with atk% at least he can dish out 8% of the boss HP with just skill. It's not great but at least it can contribute.
yeah you definitely need a good balance and usually the light cone can fix that for him so you can go pure offense (crit/atk/speed) in substats

no specific reason honestly - but ive had her hovering around that high 170 for a while now since the jing yuan memecrafting vid LOL (3 actions per cycle for the 2T JY ult with passkey)

While I still believe that Yanqing is the better dps I got to say that this comparison was quite in Yanqins favour
1. the Memory turbulence which triggers on both ult and follow up benefits Yanquin more, as for one his ult contributes more to his total damage than welts and secondly another part of his damage comes from follow up attacks, while welt only profits with his ults
2. Pela reduces the enemies ice RES which only Yanqing profits from.
3. The teamup had to much surviveability for Welt, not a single time fell hp of the team with him below 80%. This team "budget" could have gone to a different character that deals damage/provides buffs
In conclusion, I still agree about the result that Welt is the worse dps but that is not because he is the worse unit, but because Welt is not really a dps character but instead a balance between dps, support and survivability, which makes Welt perform worse when he is the only damage dealer of the team.
On a site note both Charakters work better together than separated
Welts slow down reduces the cases in which Yanqing's soulsteel is broken
The dmg bonus Welts ultimat provides profits Yanqing more than himself
the combination of Welt's imprison and Yanquin's freeze can effectively put an enemie completely out of the equation

Don't see the point of these "VS" when most character are at different Eidolons... you either go E0 or E6 to compare em. And I mean all, even the healers are affecting this outcome when they have X Eidolon
Soulsync being unactive for a while because of no shielder is definitely an exaggeration, it's always up when you needed it. don't need to force yourself to use Gepard, Huohuo is better for his energy imo.
Exactly! Nowadays with sustain options that can offer more value than just keeping your team alive, it’s worth losing soulsteel sync for a skill or two but you’ll ALWAYS have it active for your ult
