  • Carla Cargo heavy load bicycle trailer test with 170kg, overrun brake and engine support. Well the sound and picture is not the best. The Front Bike uses V-Brakes. The sound of the disc brakes is very good to hear.

    a real man, thank you for the idea with which you can remove a certain number of smelly cars from the roads

    and you can also cushion the load with the loading area, between the pallet and the frame simply attach a few 50mm steel springs with rubber bearings to bias the springs with screws and your load is cushioned. In between an anti-slip mat for the cargo and to cover the screw holes. The additional weight is not even 2KG. So we have cushioned our bicycle trailer 30 years ago, and we transported heavy milk churns in the milk hut, usually around 150KG.

    A great bit of kit , the front electric drive makes setting off and cruising a brease, and the trailer discs make it easy to stop without over run(jack knifing). I built a trailer for my bike some years ago from box section and wheel chair wheels (12") but no brakes. it was great for fishing trips and i once maxed out with 300kg, but i was younger and fitter then.

      Was that 300 kg with electric assist or on your own? Curious as ill be towing 330 pounds with me touring?

    • @darrannewman7113
      @darrannewman7113 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sundayromance7253 that was on my own , no assist, not realy advisable but unless we try these things we never know, thinking back then i was lucky i didnt break something. 330lb is a good weight to tour with, just keep it as low as possible with the center of gravity for stability.

      @@darrannewman7113 Appreciate the feedback. Was worried too much weight wasnt going to work at all but i think ill be ok. As long as i keep an eye on the trailer. Also trying to avoid down hills.

    I like that all your load weight will be on the trailer wheels and not the tow bike, but can you do something to get rid of the rattling?

  • @iksralquyuud
    @iksralquyuud 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice! I have been thinking and planning and collecting materials to build something similar. I wonder if it is possible to have the motor driving the two rear wheels so that some sort of regen. breaking can be used to stop the trailer and use the momentum already there to charge the battery, but it could be a complicated thing to do. Q. The trailer's brake cables are coupled to connect to the rear brake of the bike to activate when you pull the rear brake lever?

    I really like your trailer!
    It is a very interesting concept.
    Have you thought of connecting two (or more) trailers to a bicycle "Road Train"?

    • @livadabeach7373
      @livadabeach7373 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      molLluaga yes we thought about that too. I think that could really work on streets. Hopefully soon our production is full off trailer orderings. so we could make a test with coupling some trailers together.

      I think that the trailer train would be illegal in Belgium. Since a bike trailer may only be 1m wide and 2m long from what I understand of regulations. Don't know about Germany. You can try it and if they stop you tell them it's for a project, that's how car manufacturers get away with such kind of stuff.

    Great trailer, only it wouldn't be allowed in America ... too many regulations (sadly). But a great idea! Ought to try selling it in Asia (Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, etc.,) you'd probably find a lot of buyers there since regulations are almost nil.

  • @AllanNorthington

    You may want to put a hand brake on front wheel of trailer to help with stopping power.

    • @NeoDerGrose
      @NeoDerGrose 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What do you mean by that? All three wheels have disk brakes.

  • @TheAegisClaw
    @TheAegisClaw 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Cool, but I hope you have a super high spec controller because that weight will cause the motor to draw a lot of current up hills and in turn get any normal EU spec controller to very high temperatures which would be unsustainable in the long term.

    • @marks6663
      @marks6663 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is no electric motor. Did you look at the bike?

    • @badriance8407
      @badriance8407 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mark S the motor is on the trailer, the front wheel has a hub motor.

    • @danielrose1392
      @danielrose1392 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheAegisClaw there is nothing in the EU regulations which prevents you from building a durable system. Most important and not mandated at all is the gearing. Physics is simple, with an appropriate gear ratio you might lack the speed, but you get up the hill. Using a small wheel and an unmodified motor, you get a 40% gearing advantage compared to an 28 inch wheel.

  • @MrGlorybe
    @MrGlorybe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Some sort of shock absorber needs to be in play. I also wonder about the ability of the bicycle to brake on a downhill slope. But it certainly does carry quite a heavy load and is impressive.

      Install forks at both ends for stability and use suspension shock absorbers (of washing machines) to prevent tilting when turning or cornering.
