@veggiewalker- what’s authorization letter ? Is it PAR success form ?
Indian citizens historically had a 14 day on arrival visa. However, a number of Indians came here and overstayed or sought asylum as a result of which HK Immigration introduced a Pre-Arrival Registration specifically for Indian citizens. They probably do some checks after you fill in a PAR. PAR is not a Visa. The 14 day on arrival entry permit will be provided by the Immigration Officer after he is convinced about your intent of coming to HK and if you will exit within 14 days. The exchange rate that you get at the Airport is typically not the best. You will get much better rate if you exchange your money in the city. But typically, you will only need cash for taxi but if you download the HK Taxi App or Uber, credit cards will work just fine. But as you exit the airport, usually you will enter the red taxi queue where taxis may not accept credit card so at airport, exchange not more than HKD 500.

One thing to note ; PAR doesn't mean you will get confirm entery in HK. At immigration counter they ask a lot of questions and if they are not satisafy with it then they deport. I have seen by myself even they asked me many questions during my 2 visits in HK.
Our experience is different. They asked minimal questions with us and with our fellow travelers and it took around 3-4 mins

Is the distance between Tung Chung Station and the Big Budha Statue (if cable car isn't used). Is ot walkable or some bus has again to be taken to reach the place where Big Budha Statue is located.

There are cabs and they are expensive on the other hand, public transport is very well maintained and has great connectivity
