  • Consider carefully the timeline of this prophecy and the articles I share with you in this video. I think it reveals not only insight into James Goll but into the low standards by which these large media-focused charismatic programs will lift up "prophets" for us all. May God bring true prophecy for us all to learn, grow and be instructed from! But we all probably need to get better at spotting the fake.
Personally, I'd rather have one word of prophecy every thirty years than thirty fake ones every day.

Now, I don't believe in modern day prophesy, for context. But its entirely reasonable to understand that as "the primary way that God speaks to me in a prophetic sense".
Like, I believe that God "speaks" to me, as in, leads me in my life by giving me peace about decisions that I am struggling with and the like. And a sense of peace (or by contrast, a deep sense of discomfort) is the primary way that God speaks to me about everyday decisions, but, the primary way he reveals his character, and speaks to me in general is by the word of God, the Bible.

Mike, I know you said you were loathe to do a more in-depth analysis of Goll's work, but I'd definitely be interested in it. A former pastor introduced me to Goll and did some workshops on dream interpretation based on his stuff, and it all seemed a bit sus to me. I've definitely been open to prophecy and hearing from God, but the longer I stuck around more charismatic believers, the more things seemed a bit unhinged to me and ultimately I stopped finding things like "listening prayer" and "getting a word" encouraging and turned back to solid biblical exegesis. I don't want to discount what the Spirit might be doing, but it was really interesting seeing this analysis, as this was actually the first time I'd heard Goll speak and give a "prophetic" word. Had no idea he was in such a place of influence.

But I've come across so many false prophecies especially among important people who get a lot of attention and airtime, that I am extremely wary of anybody who says any kind of "thus sayeth the Lord". I've actually been saying similar things about many of today's "prophets". I managed to get sucked into the Qanon movement for about a year between early 2019-mid 2020 before God got me out, but I learned enough of what was going on there and what people were believing, to pick out 2 main things.
One - Q's "trutherism" and predictions actually line up way more with the New Age than the Bible, and
Two - most of the modern day "prophets" aligned with what Q was saying. I got to a point of believing that they were counting on their audience to not realize that and instead think God was speaking to them. But really they were just repeating Q.

Why? Why do we need all these extra-scriptural prophesies?
Has His word become too bland and boring? Is it no longer sufficient? Does it not move us like it used to?
Not to mention the fact that if they say “ God told me “; should their message not need to be added to the book? ( Considering the entire thing is God inspired via the Holy Spirit ).I mean, if “ God said it “, then it is now just as inerrant as the word, because “ God said it “.
    2Tim4: 3-4

@@vividclown I have always understood that verse in the framework of that *All* things belong to God, first and foremost. Caesar is just a temporary stand-in; and if "Caesar" decrees what is contrary to God, then it is Acts 5:29 for the believing Christian.
For Christians (particularly in America) to 'sit home' on Election Day out of a sense of false piety, when they have so much opportunity to make a difference (for so relative little effort and time investment) is lazy and inexcusable, if not outright disobedient. I've seen it way too many times; and regardless of what one personally believes about modern-day prophecy, that's what the progressives preach to evangelicals; i.e., that we should just "trust God and not the government" while they themselves freely push through their godless new age political agendas unhindered. 😑
On a side note, I am most grateful for Mike Winger's teachings on progressive Christianity; because I had been ostracized and gaslit (for lack of a better phrase) by them for _years_ in one online sub-community; and didn't know what in the world was going on. 😑We communicated using much common terminology, but the meanings of the terms were vastly different; and since as an evangelical I could not (in good conscience) be "affirming" I had quickly been relegated to the status of a pariah within the group. At least now I know that the problem is not with me; and what the true critical issue is for them in their refusal to acknowledge the Lordship of Christ in their lives and ministries.

This "prophecy" reminds me heavily of a "prophecy" I encountered while studying Mormon history. It was made by Mormon leader Joseph Smith in 1832, and was popularly presented by Mormons in later years as evidence that Smith was a genuine prophet because he "foretold the Civil War a generation before it came to pass!" On the surface, to a casual reader with a layman's knowledge of the Civil War and the build-up to it, Smith's 1832 "prophecy" seems remarkably accurate to what happened as it speaks of "wars that will shortly come to pass, beginning at the rebellion of South Carolina". However, to a serious historian who is aware of what the political situation was in 1832, especially relating to South Carolina, it is plain that Smith was simply keeping current in his reading of the newspapers of the time, and making human political predictions "packaged" as prophecies. South Carolina had, in fact, passed a bill nullifying a federal tariff that was deeply unpopular in the state, leading to a showdown known as the "Nullification Crisis". Then-President Andrew Jackson reacted with his usual ruthless decisiveness, and frightened the state government of South Carolina into backing down and averting the war scare for the time being. Smith's "prophecy" also contained many predictions that proved to be untrue both in the Nullification Crisis and the actual Civil War 30 years later, such as decreeing that many other nations would be drawn into the war between North and South, and a great slave revolt in the Southern states.

I believe in the present day operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Having said that, an observation I've made about charismatic prophecies: When I have received "prophetic ministry" from others (many times over the years), my best evaluation is that ~90% of the time it's the kind wishful thinking of a godly person who knows Scripture, projecting on God what they would want to think He would say to me. I would say that the other 10%, by my perception, is that what was spoken was truly "from the throne" -- anointed, encouraging words, sometimes (but not always) involved information that the "prophetic minister" couldn't have known naturally. A theory I have is that sometimes people really do "hear from the Lord" and that when there is a desirable thing a prophetic person might naturally want to think God would say, that their brain can mimic the experience they've had in the past of when God really did speak to them. So, overall, I think the real really does exist, but I think most of the time what passes as "prophetic" is the kind, wishful thinking of the prophetic minister.

Great analysis Mike! It amazes me, as a believer, and Bible reader, how much the “church” gets wrapped up in politics. Jesus was wrapped up in the politics of his day, but it wasn’t the Romans that caught his attention, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s”…It was the politics inside the “church” of his day, that was all wrapped up in the political circle of the Romans, that drew his criticisms, but not the Romans themselves. The synagogue leaders, we are taught, were the hypocrites and heretics, yet the Roman soldiers who enforced the Rule over Jerusalem, we are told to “Carry their packs an extra mile”. I am in no way saying that Jesus, or anyone else biblically for that matter, supported the secular rulers and leaders of their time. What we have read is this, “no good soldier gets wrapped up in civilian affairs”. Biblically, from Christ to Paul, their actions were to call out the voices of their day that were leading the believers of God astray, their focus was on leading the children of God, towards the Kingdom of God, and steering us away from the distractions and “noise” of the world. I say that should still be our focus as well. I am not saying politics don’t matter, but I think finding one lost sheep should matter more.
Thanks for all you do Mike, I believe you are a great soldier for Christ. God bless.

Amen… I too have a also received a word… a word that shook me to the core. Was it prophetic in the sense that it was something that would happen in the future?
Yes and No… it was a confirmation… a revelation of why I needed to step into my calling now rather than later…
Growing up in a Pentecostal church and being a worshipper/preacher I have been the recipient of many “words”. But the skeptic in me also said it was because you just saw me lead worship or minister in some fashion so giving me a word at that point is an easy home run.
However, the one word that shook me was outside of church. I wasn’t in “church clothes” and there was no way the person knew who I was. I went to visit a friend at a nursing home and a pastor who was there with his church kept passing by the door and looking in at me. He passed about 3 times that I could tell and finally he got enough courage to come in and told me…
The Lord is showing me your pastoral calling and that is something you already know… but he is showing me the people who are waiting for you to take a hold of your calling… people who need to be healed, who need to be restored, who need to return to their first love again…
That word was so powerful to me because it wasn’t about “me”. It was about the lives that would be impacted in the ministry.
Then he encouraged me by telling me that the calling is for now and not for later. At that time I was just turning 30 and I always told myself that nobody wants a young pastor as most pastors in that time where much older.
Anyway, that word stuck with me for a few years until I finally opened a ministry that has gone on to help heal, restore and bring back many people to their first love again.
All glory and honor to God!

I can understand your rationale for speeding up the source material which your are presenting so that it doesn't take as much time from the overall length of the video, however, I think that is counter productive for two reasons. (1) It is almost mocking them, the speeded-up voices and gestures making it comical when the original delivery was not done in that vein, no matter what we may think of its veracity, and, (2) that we should, as viewers, be exercising OUR discernment as we listen to that which you are critiquing in order that WE might develop our ability to hear from the LORD for ourselves, and indeed that we might test and weigh what YOU yourself are saying by way of analsysis. For context, I know that prophecy and the gifts are for today and I have spent decades watching the "prophets" and the charismatic movement. I am firmly convinced that true "prophets" are in fact extremely rare and that nearly every single "prophet" in the USA that I know of is actually false and talks a lot of garbage cobbling together "God words" and New Age type "spiritual" concepts as the Word of God...I HATE it, and so, I believe, does the LORD. Anyway, thanks again for your ministry: I've often been blessed by your teaching. 🙂

Not only that, even if what the prophet predicted came true, but the prophet was enticing people away from the LORD, they were to be stoned to death. Deut 13:1-5. JB & CBSR, New Testament prophecy is not about prediction, so testing what they say would have a different sense. Also, God "tolerates" all of us imperfect, sinful people, so I could understand Him "tolerating" false prophets.

I'm pretty sure she's into the new age, crystals have power kind of movement... I'm not really sure on all of those beliefs, not trying to make fun, just really am ignorant. Anyway, she went into a Christian book store and got my brother-in-law a daily devotional by a man named Solly Ozrovech. When I read it, he would have a verse, and the paragraph underneith would have nothing to do with the verse. Here's my question, because I'm new to the world of Biblical scholars, and Christian authors, do you know anything about this guy? Is it really a good devotional, and I just can't tell? Or is what he's giving false? I apologize for the length of this lol, but I'm hoping that you can take the time out and let me know. ACB was shortlisted more than a year before Ginsburg passed on. It didn't take a prophet to think of who was going to be chosen, given Trump wanted to keep pro-lifers/Evangelicals voting/supporting him and ACB was shortlisted. News vs Propechy is my judgment.

I’m going to admit, Mike, this topic cut me deep. I’ve listened and respected James Goll so much over the past few years. Listened to his podcast, bought his books. I embraced his teachings on dreams. I recall a few moments during that time I would have little red flags raised with some content, but I largely ignored them because I found him to be so credible and thought perhaps it was just my own lack of knowledge with items that was leading to some discernment with his content. When he prophesied about Amy, I heard it live, and I remember it truly adding to his credibility. Recently, I’d been drawn to his prophecies on the Russian/Ukraine conflict.
I am so grateful for your work, Mike, and to help us test prophecy. There’s so much more to Mr. Goll though than you see here in a sped up (which was very jarring and I think made him appear creepy and weird)isolated moment of him.
My heart is really saddened to see the approach to him as if he’s an object and not a person. An object to dismiss. But can we please pray for him. He has a really powerful testimony, a beautiful family, and a big heart for God. I know prophets are held to a different standard, but I feel implored to say before we judge and toss away, can we also pray for him in love? And anyone impacted by false prophecies, or prophetic culture?
I pray Jesus guide them in Truth and Love.

"But if any prophet dares to speak a message in My name that I have not commanded him to speak, or to speak in the name of other gods, that prophet must be put to death.21 You may ask in your heart, “How can we recognize a message that the LORD has not spoken?” 22When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and the message does not come to pass or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him." Deut 18:20-22
The test of a prophet is clear and simple. This is how seriously God takes prophesy. These guys in this video are sincere, but seem more to be wanting it to be true than to take a discerning look at it. I have also become very disheartened over the complete lack of discernment among Christians over the past couple of years especially soaking up all the Propaganda Satan can hand out, and I just cringe when ever I hear a Christian, let alone a Christian leader say "I'm just not that political". God in his infinite wisdom and sovereignty put you in a Democratic form of Government for a reason. I'm reminded of a common sentiment after the Holocaust, "Where were the Christians?" Christians need to do better and start practicing better discernment as we are called to do during these last days.

Claiming Jesus all the way he is without a doubt incorporating kabbalah, vedic, new age practices in his ministry and no one is raising an eyebrow. FYI he was early on pushing breatharianism and claimed to have gone without food for 5 yrs. When I heard about him 10 yrs ago I thought " it just seems like these people are constantly looking for the latest and cutting edge revelation and prophet. They seem bored." That was when I started my way out of these circles. Definitely compare things to the Bible, but try to get them to think biblically on their own with your help, don’t just tell them the answers.
