    I've been watching リング on this app. I just imported the video, put on ai subs in japanese and started watching the movie while examining the subs.
    It's THE best app because of its various uses.
    Plus the ai subs aren't crap, they ACTUALLY WORK and work GOOD!
    Rn I'm gonna listen to tanaka san's podcast "embarrassing memories" and study the text until I can understand it entirely. That's my goal rn.
    Then, I'm gonna have motivation to do more (more tanaka podcasts) because they're only 14mins or shorter.
    Such a great app. THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME ABOUT THIS.

    This is the reason why I like Migaku and spent some time with it during summer! It was soo convenient and helpful to generate a script of everything said from e.g. an anime episode on Netflix, where I could hover over words to read their meaning (which also paused the episode) and even add them to a list of vocabulary to practice on if needed! Really cool and useful stuff :))
    As for actually _learning_ Japanese (grammar points and sentence building etc., I mean), my absolute favorite is the *Bunpo* app! Though I do admit being a tad biased since I actually know the guy who made it, having met him on my travels in Japan and becoming friends ^^ But nevertheless, it's an amazing app for actually getting into the language, even for someone like me who already knew the basics when I started using it! :D

    Hi Yuki! Thanks so much for the app recommendation! I'll be checking it out ^^ ✨
    By the way, at 6:00 you mentioned difficulty/annoyance with going back a little bit in a TH-cam video to replay a sentence. Just in case you don't know, there's actually MUCH EASIER ways to do this than by messing with the video progress bar:
    On PC,
    - Using the J and L keys will move the video backward/forward by 10 seconds;
    - Using the Left and Right arrow keys will move the video backward/forward by 5 seconds;
    - (After Pausing) Using the , and . keys will move the video backward/forward by individual frames. (This is helpful if you want to screenshot something that goes by really fast)
    - Also, holding down SHIFT while pressing , and . (to make < and >) while the video is playing will change video playback speed instantly.
    On mobile, you can tap the left or right side of the screen to move backward/forward by 10 seconds.
    I hope this information is helpful to you (or anyone else reading)!! ^^ ✨

    FYI you only get 30 minutes free and then it is $60 a year. I would love to see an ad supported free version with maybe less features or a daily cap on how many minutes it would transcrbe. With all the free language learning tools out there I have a hard time paying for apps and when I do pay they are never subscriptions.
    There are a few sentence analyzers out there for Japanese that are completely free and poscasts that publish their transcripts for free. So while it isn't as easy there are ways to get the benifits of this app without the cost. However, I understand paying money to be able to do everything with 1 tool so you can just study rather than hunting down several different tools.

    • @YukiChiu852
      @YukiChiu852  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Totally fair point. Being time-poor I'm firmly in the paying a bit for convenience camp, but I understand that the math may work out differently for everyone.

    • @mtlvmpr
      @mtlvmpr 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Sure it's $60 a year but it's also limited to 30h/month which already goes against the 2h/day recommendation.

      I also did Pimsleur first! 🙌 My next step from there was the Genki 1 textbook + workbook, and then I went to a language school in Kyoto for 6 months, where they were using Minna no Nihongo :D
      Totally recommend the Migaku website to use as a supplement for watching anime and Japanese movies etc. and being able to read transcripts of whatever it is that you're watching, just like shown here in the video! ^^

    • @YukiChiu852
      @YukiChiu852  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d still start with Pimsleur🙌 Pimsleur is structured and easy to follow (30 minutes per day every day is as simple as a plan can get) and I’ve found it to be a great entry point into the language. Miraa is more a tool to help you ease into consuming content in Japanese, and may be more useful if you have some basic ideas of how the language works. Hope this helps - just try out different things and you’ll quickly get a feel of what works for you🙌🙌

      @ConraDargo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely not the best way of _starting out_ no, but once you're pass N5 and doing N4, then it could really be a valuable tool! Though I think I prefer Migaku or Lingq myself, because then I also get the visual feedback - making it even easier to follow along in the script, since I can understand the context simply by _seeing_ what's happening! :)

    Thank your for the video covering this app. I hope you have continued success using it, and I will definitely try it out. I do have a slightly unrelated question. Great video! The app could really help making input-heavy learning on content you actually like a lot less daunting.
    Just personally, I usually caution against completely buying into Input Theory, since it's often misrepresented on Social Media and leans on assumptions that are somewhat controversial in linguistics. That can lead to new learners misunderstanding it and getting demotivated, sadly. Trenton does go into a bit more detail, but I think he still leans a bit too heavily into an idealized version of Krashen's theory. ("Languagejones" has a great video on that topic, which I highly recommend.)
    Anyway, I think though that the app serves as a great bridge for newer learners. Listening to authentic native language content about something you like while getting a bit of clarification on structure is likely a great benefit.
    As I said, great video! It's nice that you decide to share tips with fellow language addicts, and I appreciate that you tend to offer concrete steps at the end of your videos. Positive energy all around!

    • @YukiChiu852
      @YukiChiu852  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not sure if TH-cam has the same functionality, but what I find really useful with the Miraa is that I can scroll through the transcript and jump to any part of the audio that I want to listen to again. It can also play sentences on repeat. And the transcript has a sentence by sentence translation - so each sentence is presented with Japanese on top and translation at the bottom - I haven't figured out if that's possible on TH-cam?
