Okay, to my ear...I liked the Scruggish 3 fingerish with the nylon and the thick metal. When you were playing clawhammer and two finger with the nylon it reminded me of a child plasic toy guitar. Just my opinion. Keep them coming.
I have a cheap banjo i got years ago, generic not fancy named banjo. It looks just like that and its my favorite. Even after i got a Goldtone scoop neck, i still prefer the cheap one.
Gold Tone Baritone Banjo Strings might work better as they're all wound strings. They're a bit thinner than the nylon strings so no need to widen the bridge and nut slots.
With the thicker steel strings, what tuning is that and gauge etc.? The skin didn't snap? I'm afraid om putting heavier strings on my Recording King clawhammer style, have tried Minstrel strings in steel, worked fine. But baritone would put more pressure on the skin?

Hey I've restrung my Rogue Banjo with Gold Tone Baritone Banjo Strings so I could play the James Bond theme arranged by Alan Billignsley.
