It is broken, even if one of the candidates gets the most votes it all depends on the electoral votes.

I don't think it's broken, it might work for a state like California to base votes off of population, but a state like Rhode island would have no power. that's the reason we have the electoral COLLEGE

they are upset because they left the plantation finally tasting freedom and the NAACP are too ashamed to admit it so it's got to be broken

I'M black British and i think some black people in America speaks through their ass how can the system be broken if its the same system that elected the first black president in America. it's beyond me

the truth is. we don't need a electoral voting system anymore. we all now are able to get a clear idea of who is running for any office. so yes the electorial voting system is broken and outdated. we should be able to go back to the popular vote. the other problem is that the elite of each party doesn't really represent or connect with the people of the party. it's hard to tell the difference in policy between each group.

I think the voting is not as rigged as people think! I think people get off their ass and vote or they don't. It's all about voter turnout!

the only thing that does definitely need to be changed is the Electoral College. I fully understand it and understand why it was definitely needed in the beginning but not now. It is possible to win the election with only like 27% of the popular vote now it's highly improbable because to do this a candidate would have to get deeply red and blue States butt if you start taking the most least populated states and adding up there Electoral College votes vs. their population it's possible. plus another problem is that the system leaves the unlikely but possible tie. and that case Wayfair Democratic Senate and Republican house or vice versa you can end up with the president and one party and the vice president and another. just not useful anymore and this will be the 4th time that the popular vote candidate lost. I didn't vote for either one and think they're both horrible in their own ways but I definitely think that's something that needs to be changed. it's not out of the realm of possibilities Republicans that it could have come and bite you in the ass in the future. should imagine if Trump won the popular vote but Hillary won the Electoral College...

Rem Rens The election system has been that way since forever, and no liberal had any problems with it. Now however the system is broken, just because the American people have voted for a president who doesn't suit your likings? Was the system already rigged and broken when it made Obama president twice? If you go by popular vote next time, and Trump gets elected anyway, what will you say then? To my objective German point of view it just sounds like you are a horrible loser. Wasn't all America going apeshit over all the pro-Trump uprisings likely to happen upon his sure loss? Well jeez.

then it has been broken forever? you know that "x has always been like that" is a weak argument undermining progress of any kind.
And I'm not even American, not living on US soil and did not vote, so keep your "sore loser" comment for yourself because you seem to like jumping to conclusions out of nowhere.
