@Tech Spurt how is the killer wifi, do you have any issues, like slowing down or disconnecting issues when connected to a 5Ghz band?

Dell’s XPS 13-incher (9370) has not received excessive complain and faced-off harsh criticism comparing to its slightly larger elder brother XPS 15 (9570). That being said, Killer’s notorious WIFI chipset is still such a problem though in particular under the use scenarios of GNU/Linux it seems to be doing “okay”; and hence, does not result in so much trouble thanks to both of Dell and community driven efforts in the kernel level. Unlike Windows users, a group of Linux users reported that they did not have any sort of issue regarding the WIFI chipset, and only if the computer gets warmer under heavy usage, Bluetooth connection rarely can be lost (thanks to sharing the same wireless unit). If you are planning to have an only Windows-driven experience, then I rather recommend Huawei’s new Macbook Pro (13-inch model) killer Matebook X Pro with Intel Core i7 CPU along with 16 GB of RAM and Nvidia MX150 discrete graphic card. However, Matebook X Pro has also its own problems related to trackpad rattling, differing SSD units and only having one year of warranty and lacking of any warranty extension policy (excepting for Microsoft Stores in different countries and some other stores). In summary, there is no perfect Macbook Pro replacement in the market. Each of those units are coming with their own complications and ups and downs. I hope you are going to find the best unit for your use scenario.
Note: Unlike its elder brother XPS 13 (9360), the new model comes with soldered wireless unit. As a result, you should not necessarily expect to replace the WIFI chip yourself.

@Tech Spurt well I'm planning on getting the XPS 13 (9370) but I'm also reading about the nasty Killer Wi-Fi reviews, but I also see that dell has released some drivers for the issue, has it been solved? Does it bring down your home network? Appreciate if you could share your experience. Especially on the 5Ghz connection. So its soldered?? So whats the solution you have found for the issue, any luck?

Tech spurt which laptop would you say is better? The XPS 13 with i7 8gb 256gb or the Matebook X Pro i7? I am torn on which laptop to get.

Ooh tricky, personally I have big love for the Matebook, which enjoys media editing more than the standard XPS 13. It's pretty even in most other respects.

I think the biggest difference there is probably the screen ratio. XPS enjoys a 16:9 ratio, great for media consumption. Movies, mostly. The Matebook X Pro has more of a squares ratio, which used to be the standard a few years back, more comfortable for reading, media editing and pretty much everything BUT watching videos.
I personally don't consume too many movies on my computer screen. I ended up going for the XPS 13 9350 because it is better built, Dell warranty is more responsive than Huawei's (at least in my country), and I'd much rather have multiple USB-C ports and an SD card slot, I already own several 45 watt USB-C chargers. Other than that, Huawei's offering is better. And much better priced (if you'd be getting the machines from their official sources).

My experience says different, screen wont wake from sleep, thus having to hard reset.
Don't get me started on their choice of wifi card, absolutely misses the signal my Samsung tab can pick up, absolutely terrible.

How is the battery life on the XPS 13?

    • @waytopeace2703
      @waytopeace2703 3 ปีที่แล้ว

i have and i usally just use it for school and an hour of gaming a day. and gives me about 6hours of battery life without charge if i don't use mine on 4k display. With 4k it cuts it in half which about 3 to 4 hours. and if i use it on best battery without 4k it gives me a whole day to work before dying. so like about 11 to 12 hours

You got a lemon mate. Thats common issue with xps 13. In forum, lemon 9360 were well-known by their coil whine and runs hot. They fix in 9370 with gore tech and more stable ic.. Only lemon 9370 who got 9360's issues
Linus got proper 9370, it runs cooler with never throthling

I've also had a bunch of problems with my 9370. Wifi conectivity is awful. The wifi card sucks. It was also horrible in my 9350, but I was able to replace the Dell WiFi card with an Intel one, and that solved the problem. In the new 9370, the wifi card is soldered into the MoBo.
I've had issues with the audio card, graphics card, awful keyboard layout, the fans get quite loud and the machine gets very hot (solved, partly with ThrottleStop, undervolting the CPU). And most annoyingly, some issues that I blame Windows 1809 for. I honestly don't know yet if the 9370 is worth keeping over the 9350 for me.

Purchased a XPS 9370 last Sunday (i5 8th, 8gb of memory, UHD620), totally regret, I wont complain about battery life since Im using 4k display (which Ive already switched to 1080p), bluetooth, wifi, battery at "Best performance" .
BUT even the machine is running on i5 8th gen and 8 gb of ram, the performance is so poor, not mentioning worse. My daily tasks are web browser (2-3 tabs at once), study(online course) and coding(not gaming) that it and the 9370 barely handle those tasks.
Beside the size, infinity screen benzel, beautiful display, the rest is a huge disappointment. If it wasn't for the job, I would buy Mac instead.
