Perfect mod! Its 16,83g lighter with the 4 screws. I could even use the old glides again. It feels seriously like a new mouse! It was my mouse for work before (CAD) now its also my gamer mouse! for me quite shocking how 16,83 g make such a difference, thank you so much!
Wow thanks guys, now it's a completely different mouse, in addition, I slightly bent the plate that rubs against that plastic gear next to the mouse wheel, thanks to which the resistance of this wheel decreased and it was probably the wheel with the highest resistance I have encountered so far and I own many mice

A very well done for the additonal information. Just 2 things are missing in my view. 1. the mouse wheel is significant worse then in the kaine which is a lot cheaper. I dont't buy the excuse of being a multiswitch. That must not have anything to do with the lightness of the scroling wheel. It is realy bad in comparison. Bad enough for a nonebuy for that price. 2. what kind of switch is the thumbutton? Shift or caps log? It is hard to reach the side buttons while simultaniusly pressing the thum button. That makes a big difference.
Maybe thats a misunderstanding because of my bad english. I dont think that the wheel has harder steps BECAUSE of the 4D Function. I meant that with a harder to scroll mousewheel the problem of accidently scrolling while tilting isnt that much like it is with other mice with 4d wheel. That is, for me, a positive side effect of the wheel. Same as the Basilisk where you can adjust the resistance of the scrollwheel. But if you compare only the scrolling you are right. The Kain has a lot better Scrollwheel compared to the XP.
Honestly I was a little disappointed in the scroll wheel. Don't get me wrong, it's still quite good. However, I had an OG Kone when it first released and it had the best mousewheel I've ever used. From what I heard a lot of other Roccat mice were praised for this kind of scrollwheel so it seems like they used it across different models.
@@flusck Hey Flusk this titan wheel sucks compared to the original Kone... actually the Kone XTD is an excellent mouse to this day - though it required two left click switches already haha...
If this ends up being the case with the xp air I'll probably end up buying and modding it just because there won't be a lighter wireless option that offers more than 3 side buttons.
Question: The Roccat website says the original weight is 104g, but this doesn't line up with your measurements (83+16=99g). Is the figure on the website just inaccurate? Also, do you know if the same can be done on the KONE XP Air?
It's 99 g. Its wrong on their page. We've done a weight reduction to 86g on the air too but we can't recommend to do so. The internal construction of the air is totally different. All ist connected with the Scrollwheel Holding and you have to cut a lot. Also we had to reconstruct a Scrollwheel Holding from different Parts from an other mousemod. Modding the Air ist hell. Don't do it!

Does the same modding apply to the Kone XP Air? I noticed the wireless XP air is infact a few grams lighter than the wired XP stock so a modded XP Air should be right at 80 grams.
You can bring the Air to 86 g but it's a pain. I mean it's really the hell. Can't recommend. No easy way to mod this mouse because most of the unnecessary parts that could be removed are connected with one side of the Scrollwheel bracket. We had to cut off some parts of an other Mousemod to create a washer unter the screws to stabilize the Scrollwheel. Most terrible Mod we ever made. Maybe you will some day in a Video on our channel...
Weight alone won't make it a good competitive mouse. The shape of this mouse is just not good for competitive gaming. Thanks a lot for this video though.
