Just a general update to this cob bed, it held up for around a year but because it was not covered it did erode from the the rainy weather where I live. It was a wonderful experience and a lot of hard work so my recommendation is to put in the extra work to make it last. Thanks for watching :)
Good on you girl - I really enjoyed your video. You remind me of myself when I was younger and gardening with an endless energy. Hope you are enjoying your garden and its fruits.
Nice video. Thanks. Would you mind posting an update after it's been through a winter, and maybe a bunch of rain. I've been told cob wouldn't hold up to rain.
Subscribed because it’s the best cob video I have seen , the music is beautiful, totally have me inspired. Well done love it so much . Iv gotta try this you given me hope. 💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐 10 bunches of flowers for you 👍
Would love to see if this really lasts or worth the time, logs work well for raised beds with less work, infact, I have a wonderful sweet potato raised bed with logs, including the bark originally, as the walls. Don't know if mud walls will work, one of the reasons you have to build a 2-3 foot tall stone wall to build your cob house walls on top of is to keep the water, and water splash, off the cob so it doesn't dissolve away, so it will be interesting to see if the water doesn't dissolve the mud walls to this raised bed. Thinking of dry ground and how if it rains it does re-soften the dirt and turns it into mud...
I was considering something like this for my garden and wondering if it would hold up to weather. Please let me know how it works for you. Thanks for sharing!
Melissa Williamson so far it's held up well to the rain but it's only November :) a thicker wall would probably work better with a lime wash but i never got around to doing that. I was thinking maybe during the dry season I would add some bulk to it and lime wash it! Thanks for watching!
Seems like an incredible amount of work, and for what purpose really? Why would this be so much better than merely mounding the soil and having a soft side bed?
Wow!! That must've been incredibly satisfying to complete. You should be really proud of yourself. Well done! How's it holding up years later? Considering doing this myself, but higher, as my knees and back won't cooperate with me much longer, but I could never give up growing.
It held up for about a year, however I did not put a cover over it or do anything to protect the cob. Very rainy where I live and it needed some extra protection. Lesson learned.
Well this is very delayed of me :) It lasted for around a year. I did not do anything to protect the cob so the rain eroded it, Mother Earth took it back :D
There are cob buildings that last many centuries. That means that it is better than cement! Maybe it takes much longer to cure before putting it to use. I wonder if you would modify your experiment to make it last longer. If it works, you don't have to repair it!
WOW!!! Nice job. Giving me some good ideas about additions to my place. Oh BTW will you marry me.....LOL!!! In all seriousness you do nice work. Have a good one. May peace and love follow you always.

Very cool video! Nice update too. I loved the music and watching the process. So may possibilities!
I'm guessing a dry stacked stone wall would have been a better option for the raised bed.
Great video. Absolutely enjoyed the music too.

I would love to see a follow up on your cob - hugelkultur garden bed. Hope all is growing well.
Love your messages in the music , ...and loved your dance as well ! Lovely and free !
What an inspiring wee video - and great choice of music, too :)
wow I am so impressed! Cutest farm girl video I've seen : ) truly inspiring.

Yeah if it doesn’t have a roof on it it will erode. But with a proper roof, it will last centuries.
You can waterproof cob by plastering it or coating it with linseed oil.
Very late reply, but yes the rain eroded the cob as I did not do the proper protection techniques.
Love it! Excellent job.
You're one tough cookie! :-)
Well Done.
Thanks for the inspiration! I just started making one today !!
I thought that you will build a small cob house for your kid :) Nice process and inspiring since I really want to build a small cob house for my kid

@@jasmineking2924 what does the lime wash do?
That was glorious
awesome work getting back to the nature :) please make your own cob house by chirstmas 2018 :)

It will last a very long time.
Read the description. To learn the basics of cob building.
It was an educational experience for me to learn how to build with cob. Mounding soil is definitely less time consuming!
Wow great idea and work thou.. but please tell me the title of song you play for video hehehe it's a nice song
The songs are Time by the Mowgli's, The Great Northwest by Mighty Oaks, Scare Away the Dark by Passenger, and Just One Day by Passenger

@@jasmineking2924 Aw, that's too bad. But good to know ahead of time that some kind of protectant is necessary.
It's been a year! Please give us an update. Thanks!!

Beautiful girl! Good job!
From Russia with love!
wont water degrade it?
Yes, the water definitely degraded it without the proper protection.
@@jasmineking2924 then what's the point?
@@outsidetesseract6389 with proper protection it could have lasted longer. The point was to learn, which I did :)
out of genuine curiosity why dung?
Cee Little ..do some homework, it’s an old practice that works ...do some research.
Bend with the knees, save your back!

Unecessary.just pull the weeds and add some soil, till and plant
t m .....but screw pulling weeds , you do it. Her garden bed made with cob was awesome, better than weeding .
Didn’t know there were women like that
There’s loads but most men just chase the peacocks ...
Plenty of hard working women out there!
You are going to get worms.
I did not! But definitely could have :D
