I’ve a hybrid propulsion system design for aviation that implements the use of a ram air regenerative power system, with minimal drag. Nice to see use of such a tool in these videos!
Thanks for posting the video. Very useful. I am considering a passage from the UK to the Azores so need a means of generating electrical power without having to rely on the engine. Hydro-generators look like a good option.
Glad it was helpful! I had a tow behind style that was featured a propeller on a 30 meter rope on my last boat which did work but was quite a bit more challenging to deploy and retrieve, and could not be used in shallow water. I too am looking forward to trying it out on a long passage.
Hello! Thanks for the video! I will be fitting a W&S on my Beneteau 361 which already has a Hydrovane. Which length of W&S did you fit?…610mm or 970mm?
You're welcome. Actually, I can't remember for certain, (I am not on the boat right now) but if you contact Hydrovane with the details of the install of you Hydrovane, I am sure they could give you some guidance. They are also a supplier of the Watt & Sea Generator so they are very familiar with the install. All the best.

$5000 for 100W output is a bit steep. But i like the idea. Thanks for the tip
No problem! Let us know if you find something cheaper and/or more practical. All the best mate.
