SCP-657 - Death-predicting Man (SCP Animation)

- SCP-657 - Death-predicting Man is a Safe Class anomaly also known as the Death-predicting Man.
SCP 657 appears to be a relatively normal man, roughly fifty-five years of age. However, this man who prefers to be called Gustav or Mr. Nobel has an incredible anomalous ability. SCP657 is able to predict the time of an individual's death with extreme accuracy. How is this mild-mannered looking SCP about to predict exactly when someone will die? And how can the SCP Foundation use this ability to their advantage?

Are we going to ignore that he was awarded death sentence for just cursing someone to death?
Not surprising tbh, our laws were never "fair" anyway.
I believe it was the Foundation pulling some strings. This is the most inconspicuous way of securing him, and people are unlikely to get suspicious.
edit: That's right. In the original SCP article it's stated that Foundation has "arranged" for him to be convicted and sentenced to death.
McMurica Police
He didnt curse anyone, he just predicted their death
That is because the foundation pull the string from behind. It is all in the article.

They could become pattern screamers, are secretly immortal like the O-5s, or they ARE the O5s secret identities and wanted to be sure they really were immortal.
Abel Theory: The reason SCP-657 drew a blank when touching SCP agents who have presumably gained immortality, but had an acutely intense reaction to Able that left him comatose for week was due to this reason; If someone's death is infinitely far away, one simply cannot imagine how large that number is, but Abel has actually died countless times and will continue to actually die countless times in the future.
Therefore, what SCP-657 saw in his head was nearly infinite sequence of random numbers, except he saw them all simultaneously. It caused his otherwise normal human brain to short circuit from the unnatural deluge of an infinite amount of random information, and the brain's immediate reaction was to induce a coma to protect itself. This would explain the short-term amnesia afterwards as well.
So, how did I do? Do I receive my junior researcher credentials via email or mail package?
Very good theory, that explains a lot.
Makes sense, since the human brain is made to process time as linear, meaning in 2 dimensions. But dying and coming back to life over and over gives time a third dimension, and his brain probably couldn't process it so it shut down.
Similar to a computer that force quits with too many programs running lol
We'll send it via carrier pigeon.
Is there evidence that brains shut themselves down
The Man: Hmmm oh no I see a terrible disaster that's gonna happen to you.

A man that can predict someone's death, and is much more benign and innocent compared to most objects...wiw
There is a catch however, that could potentially make it really dangerous. Is he predicting the time of death, or causing the time of death? If he merely predicts it there is no problem but if he is causing someone to have a random or semi-random time of death he may be causing their future death.
@@rampant9358 He might be predicting the time of death and someone's death and when that death is coming, this is something some people can't do at all, so predicting someone's death is a pretty sad thing to hear considering the fact you would hear ur death and when it is coming but also predicting someone's death is an incredible achievement to humanity, so this must predict death to help us better understand death and what it is. But this SCP could also probably predict diseases that could cause death, dangerous parasites that could cause death, and more death related things too that what I think tho.
imagine him saying 2 seconds... then scp 106 breaches contaiment

@@rampant9358 Didn't think of that. Y'know, considering his past as a mortician, the predictions may have come with the territory.

Over an hour

That must be so depressing to be him,
imagine:
You finaly find the love of your life, the person you want to grow old with. You've been dating for a while and you kiss for the first time under the moon light, you feel their love for a second and then you know it- your soul mate will die in 3 month.
You know it will happen, your predictions have been right every time. You know it can't be changed, you tried saving others everytime you could, and again and again and again you failed.
You don't know if you should tell them, if you do your love could live every last day of their life in fear, would they even believe you ? Maybe they would leave you for fear you might be crazy. If you do not tell them, they could be wasting their final weeks, maybe they are working this dead end job just to get a better one in ten years time, is it moral to stay silent ?
Unless he can break the dead end before a person dies (reference)
That would be pretty sad.
It made me think that SCP-657 ability to predict might not be the full case.
In my theory: His power towards Death is not about prediction but a case of self-fulfilling prophecy. Physical contact from him could made that person registered on Death's list.
So in a way, it's not prediction we have to be cautious from the info we get from this gentleman but making ourselves being listed on the book of death.
Read the dead zone, it's what this ripped off, it's a really good book
What a sarcasm. Also I got some quotes
"We all know life is happiness, but life also short, meaning that we don't know when we can dead or gone forever, but your god is decided your fate or destiny, maybe your god want you send to heaven because of your goodness."
I like to think the reaction to SCP-076-2 wasn't because of some infinite lifespan, but more because of his death rate. He has died and will die so many times that SCP-657 got all the times and dates he would die, so many of those in fact his brain overloaded with information and he had a pseudo-stroke. The overload could explain a loss of his short term memory, wiping it clean before it could pass into long term memory, explaining why he forgot even meeting 076-2.
I love the stories where the SCP foundation has perfectly safe people and they treat them so nicely. It allows us to see a different side of them.
"Mr. Noble. You have been found guilty of murder and attempted murder and are hereby sentenced to death."
"No. I'm quite sure I'm not'
"I will die...in the year 2063 on the first of March by a heart attack that will happen because I will forget to take my heart medicine during midnight at exactly the 59 second mark."
THEORY: Maybe those scientists whose dates he couldn't tell would experience some event where in they'll travel to some different dimension and get stuck there forever like the scientist who got stuck in that red reality thing. Or maybe they become pattern screamers like scp 000 in the future.
It made me think that SCP-657 ability to predict might not be the full case.

Added note: Probably those scientist are related to some anomaly from within the Foundation.
@@rogueascendant6611 I see ur theory is correct and is certainly possible as it also explains the encounter of scp 657 with scp 076, since he couldn't make his name get into death's hit list because of his immortality, but again how will u explain that scp 657 cannot tell the dates of death of those foundation scientists? I mean, could it be that those 3 can't die because they have a deal with death just like the O5s or maybe they ARE the O5s in disguise?? Further I am interested at what would be his reaction on meeting Dr. Bright the well known immortal scientist working at the foundation?
My theory is connected to what was mentioned about time paradoxes. Perhaps if the death can be avoided if warned of, his powers fail as a means of preventing such paradox’s. A self righting of the universe so it doesn’t tear itself apart.
@@Very-Cute-Cat Most likely those are the 05s or have a similar deal going on now or in the future. How better to maintain your secrecy than to be someone in an unassuming job. If you saw the 05 hanging around now and then and have no idea who they are it would bring too much suspicion.
@@RacoonEatingPeanutbutter There wouldn't be a paradox. If he senses someone's death that is how t always would have happened. They always would go out of their way to take an employee off a dangerous case and whatever they encounter instead would still be on death's schedule. If he predicted more detail than just the time frame then yes, a paradox would be likely.
So basically this SCP has the same abilities as the main characters in The Final Destination films, but less gruesome with the details.

How bout a cross test between him and 682 to see if they should continue their termination experiments: if he gets time then continue, if he doesn’t then stop the experiments
First of all, only humanoid subjects work with 657. Second of all, how tf would he touch 682.
He wil touch after he goes in the reptiles mouth
@@ThatGuy-to7vk How would he touch him? 682 responds to drugs, albeit in immense doses. Give him enough fentanyl to kill a few elephants and use the hour or so that buys you for 657 to touch him if you *really* wanted to test this.
@@Schadrach42 immediately after that, 682 will adapt and become immune, so I don't think they would waste the one time use drugs on 682 for this theoretical test.
Me too. We all will die, I can also predict that we all will die under the age of 150.
Better and more testable question than "can the death be prevented?": What if he touched a D-class that was to be terminated the next week, said that he would die in a week, and then the D-class was immediately fired upon by an MTF squadron. Does the D-class die? Are you effectively immortal after the prediction until the prediction time?
I think it predicts whatever date it actually is, I don't think you can fuck him over. Like it said at the end of the video it would either create a time paradox or the man simply predicts the death of the future in THAT Universe, and if in that universe they shoot the d class instead of letting him live for the week, it should be predictable
Can we please have a SEQUEL where they deal with the time paradox of trying to change his prediction. My guess is that it would be like those "final destination" horror movies and the universe would alter the laws of probability to guarantee an "accident'
This poses some interesting possibilities, particularly if one considers possible time paradoxes and quantum superstates. Could one create a situation in which a time of death doesn't exist until he observes it? Could the Foundation's attempt to prevent a death end up causing it, and had they not known of it, they would've actually lived longer? Does someone's date of death always exist in a superstate until it's observed?
I wish there was an SCP that looked super ominous and scary, made people feel really worried or scared just from its appearance, but all it does is draw a perfect circle and hold up a "thumbs up."
What if the old man met the plague Dr?
Could he fix or stop his abilities or see him as an infected?
The little girl was also mentioned in the video. Have the two met in another timeline?
SCP 682:So how longer well I live?
SCP 657:You have 1 Second to live.
Why didn't they use this guy on the D-class personnel sent to explore SCP-087? Even if the Foundation didn't have him in custody at the time of the original exploration of that staircase, his acquisition should have told someone at the Foundation that a re-examination of that location was needed.
6:23
I think the unsettling feeling is because the entity of Death itself, just a mere reflection of the real one from 2935 is living very near to 657
Can you do a video on things Dr. Bright is not allowed to do at the Foundation?
They did
"The SCP Foundation is quite experienced with extracting prisoners"
Almost disturbingly so, to the point I question how many death sentences are truly fulfilled in that world
Could you make a video where you show or introduce all of the appolyon SCPs? There aren’t so many anyways but that’s what makes them so interesting.
Day 6 of asking, I really want this to be a video
Awesome video.
This is going to be interesting
I just realized something about scp 657 and scp 049! 049 has a stronger version of 657s power! Which means 049 can just look at someone and see close death but 657 has to touch to see death.

049 without the mask and robes , he predicts death instead of causing it.
So he’s like SCP-4999 but death instead of disaster.
You are the best! Keep up the work but have some rest and don’t take it hard on your self
If they tried to save someone and did then the man would have just predicted a different time
But maybe if the didn't save him he would have lived more like if he was dying of a disease in 10 years and they freak him out by telling he will die today then he dies from freaking out 🤔
“The justice system moved quickly” that’s the real anomaly here
I'm curious about a possible experiment, although an inhumane one. Having SCP-657 predict the death of a D-Class who already is scheduled next week for an experiment with a lethal SCP. If 657 predicts that, then the staff execute the D-Class in the next room. If 657 predicts that execution, they instead let the D-Class proceed with the schedule for next week. I'm curious what this experiment would result in.
that’s a fun way to cause another coma
If 657 predicts the D-class will die in a week, then they'll survive their attempted termination somehow and die in a week, whether due to that upcoming experiment or not. If 657 predicts the D-class will die in two minutes, then they'll die in two minutes, no matter how hard the staff try to prevent it; it could be anything from slipping on a wet floor to 682 breaching containment and eating everyone.
My theory is that the few who are immune are going to be future O5 members and the life extending/immortality treatments make it impossible for 657 to get a proper date of death.
Can you finish the the way it ends!
The complete story ends with only 05-1 being alive
Please finish
