It's not so much the engine fails as it can't climb the grade with the tonnage behind it. In the case of most grain trains through Ballarat, they're around 3000+ tonnes, and faced with a few kms of 1 in 50 grade before an easy run to Geelong. In wet weather failures seem to happen at least once a month. Sometimes I get lucky and get to make videos of photo-spreads out of them. Thanks for watching!
