    Brian Greene!!!! When I was in college, after years of hating reading (because of a negative school experiences), Elegant Universe was the first book I ever read on purpose. It set me on a path to learning about string theory, learning to think critically, discovering Neil deGrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins, Steven Hawkings, reading Einstein's papers on relativity, diving into quantum space theory, and so much more. Not that you'll ever see this, but thank you!

Your work has completely changed the way I perceive literally everything and helped me find something true and beautiful to hang on to. I absolutely love this show. The dynamics is perfect and despite the length of the show, it keeps you interested until the end. Now, I must also say(and that's because I really hearing Neil's talks), I find his habit of stopping the others from speaking in order to insert himself, unproductive and not nice. I really love the man, and as a man he is not perfect of course, but I wish he will read this comment and act upon it. I have watched over 50 of his interviews, shows(all the Cosmos series), etc... and I have noticed that in almost all the shows where someone else is involved in the show.
    I will still watch your shows though. I cannot live without them :-) Thank you for inspiring me and everyone who could have given more interest to science had they have a teacher like you in school. I am knowledgeable in many fields, while being that person who is not an expert anywhere. At least,according to me, and typical degree programs.I personally think that Mr Nice is a wonderful component of Star Talk. Thank you BOTH. I truly think that both of you are essential people.

    the way i see what brian said about the repairing spacetime, i imagine spacetime as like a bunch of bubbles where the bubbles are all next to eachother connected technically and one in the middle popping would make a hole but the surrounding area almost immediately fills in/repairs the hole. it seems plausible to me

    • @chorinu7609

    • @ZeroOskul

      Yeah, but Neil pushed and Greene admitted it was BS.

    • @blowc1612
      @blowc1612 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, because bubbles have a fix amount of particles inside it, and therefore the other bubbles would thin out to refill that space. What Brian suggest if that the space it will recreate it self from nothing to repair itself, without losing any other space that is already in existence. Two different concepts.

    • @blowc1612
      @blowc1612 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      zerooskul it’s a possibility, Neil never said it’s BS.. what is your deal? The fact we don’t even know what space consist of and it can easily be something we can’t even currently grasp, is as possible as anything else we can think of space currently not being occupied by the current known matter we can grasp. Are you mad because you can’t think at a higher level and feel so small? There are scary thoughts out there that others won’t be able to live with and go crazy.

    Great show. I will certainly be checking out the book. I did want to comment on a few points. 1st, as Neil suggests at the end, Brian Greene would be a welcome mind on the show more often. Second, I do understand there are worldly restrictions to the shows time but you and your guests always seem to be pressed for time and therefore rush many thoughts. I could be wrong but I believe I speak for many fans when I say we are in no hurry to get to the end of these educational conversations. Perhaps occasionally there could be an unregulated show in which everyone gets to revisit conversations or just have the time to discuss in detail all of the thoughts without being rush. You all do have schedules of your own to keep but it does seem that there is so much more everyone is willing to share and explain. I myself do not have peers in which to have these kind of talks so these moments are as close as I get to sharing my interest in the science of the world we live in.

    • @EmpyreanLightASMR
      @EmpyreanLightASMR 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can look up the experiments that prove we have no free will to a certain extent but I still think we do have some free will in a macro level. like choosing a degree or a career path. but when it comes to deciding if you want McDonald's for lunch, then that's possibly different.

    • @EmpyreanLightASMR
      @EmpyreanLightASMR 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Han South You can argue that the future not only exists but is also finished for any particle that has crossed over the event horizon of any black hole that is massive enough. (to our perspective, that particle basically cubes to a standstill and we are now catching up to its time.)

    • @jorgepeterbarton
      @jorgepeterbarton 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EmpyreanLightASMR i certainly believe the psychological assertion that we have parts of us without free will....
      But in physics, determinism is the axiom not the proof. Its all still philosophy! If you set out your field of "hard science" is essentially "to find the clockwork in the universe" then it looks clockwork.
      Except it looks random sometimes, which isnt free will either its a whim of dice.

    Problem with Brian's statement that religion is useful to understand your place in universe is that religion then encourages the tribal mentality, that's how we get sexism, racism and every problem because of the differences in the world, religions are the root of it. Religions condition the brain for tribal behaviour(us vs them), they do make you feel special about your place in the world but at the same time it makes you closed off to accept any scientific fact that would challenge your "special place" in the universe.
