I totally understand your emotions Kelly. I too have always loved seeing old photos. It hurts my heart to see these thrown away. I was crying too. There used to be a ton of photos of my sister & I from our younger years & my mom & grandma who have both past on. Once my grandma passed, my aunt took everything & sold most of it in a yard sale. My aunt kept the photos, but then she died so then her daughter (my cousin) had them. I kept asking for copies of mine my mom & some of grandma & never received them. My cousin also died unexpectedly this past March. So I have no idea what has happened to my history. Now theres nothing to show my future generations when I'm gone. Its really sad what family does with a loved ones possessions once they have passed. Especially if there was no will or you left all instructions to the wrong child that didn't keep your promises. Im signing up for your newsletter. I thought I had awhile back but never received anything. I hope it works this time. Thank you for sharing this beautiful haul with us all. It was very touching to see someone so into the past as much as I would like to be. ❤❤❤
Whoever threw this stuff away, was just seeing junk. You two are building a story about people you don’t even know. They’ll be like long lost family when you’re done. ❤
I found a glass jar with rose petals turned over, and in the bottom of the cardboard box was a vintage wedding ring worth 900. Im sure it was was with the rose. The lady who moved knew my neighbor so I told him, he told her, and I was able to give her her mothers ring back.
It is refreshing to see someone of your generation appreciate the past. Most younger adults see no valve in old photos , dollies, quilts, needlework etc. thank you for your appreciation
I can't imagine throwing photos away especially when a family members gone. We kept every photo of my Grandma's. And some were so old they were on metal. She had written who they were. But they we're long gone. And none of us ever knew them. I'm glad you save stuff like that. 😊
So wonderful you saved all of your Grandma’s photo’s! I always write on back of photo date/year, who, etc. so descendants know what they’re looking at. Too many times we can’t identify subjects, etc because there’s no info. 😢
It could be that those memories weren’t so great. We don’t know the family dynamics active in the family. A lot of people don’t have the room for all these “memories.” Maybe there wasn’t any offspring or family members interested in these photos. I agree it is strange that they were discarded.
I have pictures of my grandparents, parents, kids etc that I'm afraid my kids will not want when I depart this life. The pictures span from 1913 and on.
Don't ever say your sorry for crying! Your saving the past. And someone needs to cry for the past when it has just been tossed away. I was born June 1950 so some of those black and white bought back memories. Thank you and God bless.
Congratulations on finding the perfect dumpster for your interest in history of places and people! Great work and more importantly you’ll have a piece of history to remember.
Now you all have made me cry! You are going through the things that probably were thrown out during a death clearing. But you observed and treated the stories the cards, newspaper clippings, and photographs with respect and emotion🕊♥️🙏
You two are old souls. It is so neat that you love old things. I smile when you call these 60's pictures vintage because that was my teen era. Yes I guess I am vintage now!!!! I know you will enjoy looking at all of the things in those boxes! Thanks for saving history!!
I was just married in 1966 and looking at pictures. My God Mother told me to date the backs of the photos and write who is in them. I love going back to those days in the photos seeing relatives no longer with us. Thanks guys for rescuing someone's memories. Love you two and God bless.
My grandmother had a shoebox full of very old photos and she told me a few times that she regretted not writing the date and names of the people that were in the photos.
OH MY GOODNESS, GIRL!!! I COULD NOT STOP CRYING!! YOU DEFINITELY TOUCHED MY SENSITIVE SPOT! There is nothing wrong with letting your feelings show! You are beautiful with a beautiful heart! 🤤☺️ Tears of happiness!!
😭 I’m so happy to see you save that ephemera and that you genuinely appreciate it! It boggles my mind that these things get tossed in the trash. I adore you both!
Go ahead and cry I cried way back when you all found the Corel and when you find this kind of stuff thats someones memories and they had no one to give them to . But you saved their lifes collection and now they will be remembered!!!!!! Now I'm crying
That's how I feel too.. someone saved all of these precious memories their entire life and then it was thrown away :'( But it's why it is so important to us to try and save it when we can!!
@@breafkast I have my Great Aunts mach book collection when I get some $ together I will send it to you. I have some old black and white pictures too that will take a fortune to mail lol my brother and I are the last of our family and we are in our 60's and have no one to leave them to. I guess I will mail you a little at a time
I can’t stop commenting as I watch because I will forget what I want to say. ( yes I’m old 😂) it absolutely warms my heart and brings me great joy that you get such enjoyment out of things from my childhood and before. It’s just wonderful. You kids are so caring and kind. I wish there were more people in the world like you two.
Alex and Kelly, it was so wonderful of you to have saved this family's ephemera from the past!!! All the 1960s dates you were mentioning made me feel like a walking ephemera statement. 😀 I was born in February of 1962. I have a lot of old photos from the past. When talking about ephemera, my Grandma Marie started writing in a daily diary back on March 6th,1938. She kept up with many daily diary books up until 1984. Grandma passed away in March of 1989. My cousin, Becky, started posting Grandma’s daily entries in September of 2023 in a private family group on Facebook. We all share old photos in the group. It's really been a fun activity for our family. The group name is Marie Hofmeister Klein Diaries. My family back then was always busy doing something each day. They were farmers in North Central Iowa. Hello Bones, I can't wait to see your new cactus cat tree!
Ok, wow, you Kelly and Alex make dumpster diving videos worth watching, you take what others would throw away and appreciate it for what it is worth, you are both a beautiful caring and adorable couple, I have been watching your videos for a long time and I love seeing how you appreciate the things you find, you both have a passion that you don’t see often, which makes you both unique, being a lot older than you two I will learn how to get your newsletters eventually, so from Marie in the north east of England, it’s a privilege to watch you both, and totally loving the videos every day, only 24 more videos to go, keep them coming, love it, love you guys, outstanding, xxxxxx beautiful couple, but most of all bones, and always pilgrim, totally star, xxxxxxx
Whenever a lot of ephemera is found with photos, film strips, etc. I always wonder if someone has died and whomever cleans it out has so little to connect them with the ephemera, they just throw it away?!?
I think it is so wonderful that you both care so much for older photos and the stories behind each pictures !!! We need the younger generation need to appreciate the past and present and future. God bless you both !!!❤
I feel the same as you do about the past history. There is so much we miss by not finding these mementos of times gone by. Your emotions shows that you have a compassionate nature. This has been great with you putting out a video a day. And you guys keep it fun with all the different subjects you share. Thank you for sharing with us and the happiness you two show. Keep moving on and find more history.❤️❤️
You 2 are amazing, those photos were someone who is no longer with us. I can't understand why they were thrown away . Thank you for saving them and their history, now will live on with you. 😊😊😊
Wonderful Dive! Alex, your very couragous getting in dumpster. Digging. The memories you found is so worth saving. No worries about being emotional. So understand your reasons from crying, Kelly. Thankful you 2 look for history in dumpsters. Saving history from landfill. ❤🎉❤
I feel the same way about that stuff, Someone's family and history, their whole lives, best moments.......in a dumpster. It's just so sad. I am so glad you kept looking, you knew it was there too.
Im so happy you found all the ephemera , I absolutely Love it. It's a shame is was in the trash but fortunate Alex kept digging 🗑️. I could spend the day away looking through stuff like that. It's so interesting. Now I can't wait for your e-mail to come out...

don't worry Kelly..i was crying too😂..whether we like it or not..when we go..our stuff will be tossed..everyday is precious..( i hope my kids keep a few things)...
Talk about finding history 😮 Why do people throw away family memories? Sadly, I think it’s a lot of younger people who just aren’t sentimental about their family after they pass away😢😢I actually teared up praying that our children who are in their 20’s and our future grandchildren don’t discard our memories 🥹
Hi, I was born 1962. I love that you found it valuable to save this couples memories. I think it's sweet that you get emotional. You are right, once it goes into the trash, it's gone forever. I bet they are looking down from heaven, just tickled pink that you saved it
Just got home from work, grabbed a quick shower and some tea, now I am in bed watching this your video. That blue tea pot, is the exact same to my yellow one I got at our local thrift store. Its an Animal Rescue foundation, so I support them
It’s okay to be emotional about that stuff because you are so right and why anyone would throw it away is kinda sad.. don’t be sorry about shedding some tears about this stuff fr fr., 💜💜
There was a green washable rug with the cat tower. Maybe could have cut pieces & stapled it to freshen up tower. Also, the bag with all the jewelry boxes could have had jewelry in the bag, I would have taken it home to go through it throughly. Could have valuables?
Your videos make me so happy! I love that you are taking these treasures and learning and enjoying these adventures . It is also sad that the family did not treasure the memories enough to keep them.
Time capsules are so much fun, I could spend hours going over things. Great find guys. When no one claims the person's personals this is what apt. managers have to do. They'll donate what they can but personal items get dumped if not claimed, unfortunately. Glad you managed to salvage a bunch of history, people's lives had meaning. Dig on guys, find more treasures.
Some of those photos are the year i was born 😅. So cool. My mom has a huge tote full of family photos. It will come to me when she passes. 😢. I know there are maybe 20 wheels full of slides that were taken during the Vietnam war. From my dad. He was a crew chief on a tanker plane, the airforce. I love going thru them. ❤ so cool. Keep saving those photos. 😊

Dont worry Kelly I also got emotional over that window into the past. Even tho its some other family you never met it holds to ones heart. We are thinking of our own families and the past. Just how fast things pass and suddenly how people and places can be forgotten. These pictures and things are so amazing and special.
