I love this video! Your dogs are so adorable! ❤ Can I ask, how do you handle a 4 month old puppy that’s teething and biting a lot? We’ve had him for a month and are worried about him interacting with our older Havanese who’s a 3-1/2 year old male. We’re concerned about him injuring the older dog who is very anxious but sweet tempered.
@SheffieldSweetie by biting I'm assuming you mean play biting, not aggression. Most puppies will play bite, the mother usually straightens them out and teaches them to be easy. When a puppy will grab my hand trying to play I never a jerk back, because that will hurt more and the puppy may think it's a type of game and continue to play. They're obviously not trying to hurt you but they don't realize they have sharp teeth peeking through. If they're too rough I will gently move them off my hand and not muzzle them but gently close their mouth and tell them firmly a command like easy or no, and quickly release you're not trying to muzzle them or hurt them or anything like that a quick process of just no easy let go. If they continue I'll repeat the process over and over again, offer them a chew toy that they can chew on or bite on. If they continue to go after my hand I'll put them in a Timeout for a little bit, and then I'll repeat the same process over again
It's kind of hard to explain stuff on youtube, but you basically just want to be repetitive and patient with puppies. If the puppies getting a little too rough with your other dog do the same thing timeout. The puppies got to learn that it can't behave that way, and the only way to do that is to teach them repetitively until they understand. They certainly don't want to be in timeouts and not played with. Once the puppy starts behaving and realizes to be easy when they're putting their mouth on you and not biting, you can reward with a treat as well.
@@SteelCityHavanese Thank you, I really appreciate that you took time to respond to me. I’ve watched a lot of videos on this and your method makes the most sense. We started with closing his mouth and saying “ no bite” and he stopped but he’s very strong willed. Haha! It’s like having a teething baby who needs a nap. Sometimes he’s so crazy we put him in his pen alone to calm down. I don’t remember our other Havanese being so stubborn. Your dogs are lovely! What a beautiful variety of coats and personalities. Thank you again for the tips!! 😀
My havanese female 14lbs, male the runt of the litter 18lbs. Besides grooming I find myself washing thier face ofton especially in windy condotion.. Eyes run and build up on fur causing lesions if not adressed. Great breed no regrets. Good watch dogs!

Your dogs are overweight . Please don't keep them overweight. It causes stress on their hearts.
1:21 Littlest dog but with the biggest tail wag 🥰🥰
Adopted one, pick him up on the 7th.
