    Another big thing a part of bulimia is the restrictive or starvation periods that come as compensatory behaviors after binging. I, as a bulimic, will go days without eating just because I had binged and then self induced vomited. I always go the extra mile to prevent weight gain, which is a symptom very common in all eating disorders. Thank you for touching base on this topic! This makes me feel extremely validated.

      THANK YOU. Bulimia behaviours don’t always take place after a binge. When I was deep, deep into my ed I’d literally have a 50 calorie apple and thought it would make me gain weight so I’d exercise straight after for a weird amount of time.

    My grandfather had that eating disorder, which was strange to me at the time, 80's era, because I had assumed from television and everything else that it was primarily a female problem. As a kid growing up, I would often wonder why my grand dad would make a run to the bathroom after eating. I think part of what he went through has stuck with me as I will intentionally starve myself when I feel like I get too chubby. I will go through periods of "phases" where I just refuse to eat, and I end up just making myself sick in the process. I was never close to my grandfather so I'll never know the specifics of his own problems. But I definitely remember hearing about that from my grandma when I was around 8 or 9 years old.

    For those who are worried about their teeth due to Bullemia, please note- 1. Do not over brush your teeth 2. Stop the acids reflux touching the teeth 3. Do not brush immediately after the food or after acids reflux 4. After any meal rinse your mouth with water 5. Use mouth wash for teeth sensitivity (usually it blue with potassium) try the one from sensodyne 6. Get dentist appointment for regular check up to see any signs of cavity 7. Do not get crown or tooth extraction unless your teeth is highly damaged and sensitive 8. Keep your natural tooth as long as possible. Once there tooth work is done by dentist you will require several continuous visits and money. I have heard many dentists recommend full teeth removal even if the teeth are healthy enough and it’s totally wrong. Due to Bullemia the enamel gets eroded but that doesn’t mean the teeth is gone. You can still prevent further erosion by following above tips. As we grow our teeth placement changes so it’s better to get major teeth work done later in life.
    Lastly you are beautiful ❤

    • @ashsinha2769
      @ashsinha2769 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Rae because it damages the teeth further m. You can brush after an hour so that the teeth gets neutralise by the saliva. When you throw up the acid erodes the teeth and the teeth are quite exposed to further erosion.

    Thank you so much for validating me with this video. for me, people really don't understand my bulimia because there is such an association with throwing up. It makes me uncomfortable to tell people I am a binge eater, because in my warped mind, I feel like I work so hard to compensate and stay at a normal weight. I used to throw up as a teenager, but now as an adult I over exercise, fast, and use substances with a laxative effect.

When nobody is there for you your entire life it’s hard not to find comfort in eating and then binging. For me it has numbed me so I don’t feel any pain but I know I will only cause harm to myself.

    • @shiju333
      @shiju333 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The difference is, sadly, still determined by weight. You have anorexia-restricting subtype which the patient has to maintain a bmi of 17.5 or less, or anorexia-binge and purge subtype (also with the requirement of bmi under 17.5). To get a diagnosis of bulimia, one isn't limited by size. So if your bmi is 17.5 or less, that's the difference. Now, is there much behavior change simply due to a weight cutoff? No, not really.
