  • Core Kiteboarding made a new single strut Hydrofoil kite. The Xlite. Gear talk on land where we look at the new changes and see what adjustments manufacturers make to make a light kite. Test the 11m kite under 10 knots. Can we foil?

    This thing is light. I flew the 12m. It turns very well and fun to fly, light bar pressure. Felt like my Ozone Reo but lighter. The wing tips flap a lot when you turn it fast, but i guess that was the trade off of less Dacron. The power in a loop is very smooth, not to much. Was impressed with how little wind is needed to fly. I think you could foil in 7mph with this thing unless you are a Lurch. Has absolutely no pop so don’t expect to jump with it. It will reverse launch off the water from face down. It kind of makes a foil kite unnecessary. Large foil kites in super light wind aren’t much fun anyway, turn like crap. And if you dump them you may never get them back up.

    Great review. Now, I have to ask about the Boarder Collies! Are they yours? At least one seems to be in many of your videos.

    How would you compare it to Airush Ultra or F-One Breeze for light winds?

    • @Kitefinder
      @Kitefinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry Justin, can't say. Never flown the Breeze.

    i think the small bar is there for a reason, the reaction of the kite is bigger then a normal one, so to reduce the way of overreacting while maneuvering the bar, its like car with more hp having stiffer steering wheel then a lower end hp car. fix me if im wrong

    Nice to see some dogs who are relaxed around a flying kite... I got chased 1 km by a dog while I was snow kiting... thing was trying to kill me lol

    Do you guys prefer using a foil kite when you're foiling, or do you prefer a light weight tube kite? If foil kite, what's your favorite and what size? Thanks!

    • @Kitefinder
      @Kitefinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tubes, more playful. Only foil kites under 6 knots. Flysurfer Sonic2 27m lines

      KiteFinder.com what size sonic? Also, please do a review of the Sonic3. Thanks! And, how’s that Aluula test coming? Say A-L-U-U-L-A.

      @@Kitefinder How low below 6kts do you go with the Sonic 2 (what size?)? And wouldn't a Soul be better?

      @@davidflusin5705 18m with 27m lines in 4 knots we could foil. Only tested the soul 12m

      @@Kitefinder Interesting. I can foil in 7kts (with a bit of work) on my 12m Slingshot Ghost, Cabrinha double agent foil 2018 (not a very big wing) and 24m lines (using my Core bar, probably not ideal) I would have expected to be able to go lower with a foil kite without having to use such large sizes. I'm still a bit confused as to whether foil kites are worth it or not.
      Btw, I normally ride Core and would have loved to get the Xlite but was told the Ghost was better for very light wind. Any opinion on this?
