The only thing I really don’t like about my jet boat is the noise level. Just wish it was a little quieter.
Jet drives are easier for the owner to work on with only a few parts in the drive unit, lower unit on a outboard more complex and working parts for the owner to break when working on them.
What about the new outboards with a jet lower end instead of the older lower end prop drives?
You left out a bunch of benefits to a water jet like better handling and maneuverability in port and stopping forward momentum much quicker in a collision/allision situation. (Dropping the bucket is instantaneous)
I leave my outboard boat in a salt water slip all summer and like you've noted, it can be trimmed and out of the water while it's in the slip. From what I've heard, jet drive boats can't be lift docked in salt water for the season because it causes major issue with the drive. Is that true?
In my experience with an 8m 300hp plate jet boat it cruises 25-30 knots at 33-3500rpm and drafts nearly nothing while still weighing 3500kg

Does anyone have any experience with jet boats Yamaha in particular being used in southwest Florida in brackish water canals typically 4 to 5 foot in depth?
