I made eye contact with him during a show and said “you are the best”, and his response was “thank you”. I have held a conversation with him in this way. Dude is insanely studio sounding in a live setting. Best performance I’ve seen.
@@depraved2099 I was in Schweinfurt first row right in front of Ben screaming the whole set with him and man it was a highlight everytime he looked me directly in my face while screaming
Last year in cologne on their elegy tour through Europe he gave all of us in the front row a first bump and man that was such a special ending to a fucking fantastic show. The energy was great we were all screaming with him the entire time :)
LITERALLY ANY NEW BEN DUERR VIDEO ON TH-cam IS A GOOD DAY. This dude is single handedly THE inspiration for me to start learning vocals. Literally listening to Shadow of Intent as I'm writing this lmao.
As a metal vocalist myself, this song is becoming one of my absolute favorites. And with Ben being one of my biggest inspirations, it's absolute nuts that this exists. Just... Thank you 🤘
Always appreciate bens down to earthness. I remember the old facebook group and asking about lyrics because there was some missing words and I was figuring out my screams. To think primordial was a random youtube recommendation with like 10k views and now its lead to all of this. Edit: Of course ben is quoting spongebob again.
Just saw ‘em live in Worcester, these guys sound just as good in person as on recording! One of my new favorite bands, they’re absolutely devastating. So much fun.
Shadow of intent is by far one of the best live bands out there. And Ben just absolutely demolishes every song. And he’s only getting better and better !! Going to see them live for the 4. time next year,, can’t wait !!!
I JUST learned they existed a couple weeks ago (i have no fucking idea how it took me that long) and they were where I am in Dallas on Oct. 3. 😭 Definitely going to catch them on the next tour though!
The hardest question to answer that Mark asks “ Tell me how that felt, what did you feel?” 😂 your videos and lessons are always a highlight in my day 🤘
Just watched these guys sweat buckets in Ottawa Canada sept 21st, Ben is 1000% an absolute machine on stage, everything he said in this interview is spot on, looking forward to this upcoming album. And hopefully they return to canada again.
10 minute intro and i loved every second. These co reactions are by FAR my favorite content on TH-cam. Man i wish i was brave enough to be the vocalist i think i am. Its fun to watch these and be hopeful for the future. That one day I might be the one on video call co reacting to my own song. Oh what a dream❤
I was wearing a Shadow of Intent shirt when was in the room when my son was born lol. My first picture with my wife and son and me im wearing a shirt where the Arbiter is stabbing a Prophet in the back lmao. So this band will always have a special place in my heart.
@MRFLAPPYTREE I got the shadow of intent saurian king hoodie, corpser shirt, beanie and the long sleeve shirt with the blue monster on it. I think it's chaos something
Between the sea and the sky 😍 Thanks Mark for having Ben again. Definitely one of my fave vocalists and insanely talented. You have to go see him live. His delivery is flawless it's inspiring
@ryan-cochran Broooo I'm so glad. Please start from the beginning and digest every album. I will say Elegy is my least favorite, but they are amazing. Top tier band.
Probably the best content on the channel these interviews. Ben’s comments about what his false chords feel like when they’re “rusty” were really similar to what mine feel like when I’m not doing them cleanly. The same muscles or tissues don’t feel like they’re rattling the same and my voice seems to accidentally come through in the wrong way
Congrats to both of you on being new dads! It's the craziest most exhausting thing that will ever make you grow as as man. Good luck on tour and thank you for the awesome videos Kardavox!
Cool too see Ben Duerr again here! I love the new song, can't wait for this album. I also hope you can do a video with Phil Bozeman from Whitechapel soon with the new album. The first new song they released is insane.
What I find most impressive is that you actualy know that the epiglottis plays a role here in his growl, as oposed to others, saying it's pure falsecord. A growl more concentrated on the false vocal folds sounds more voicy and hollow (to me at least), Duerr has this filling element in his growl, making it more beasty, the engagement of the epiglottis. Bravo to you my friend, you've shown there is people who actualy know stuff, cheers!
Very interesting as always, even as a guitarist foremost. I just kept thinking, and was distracted by their drummer looks like Jerry Cantrell's son. 😅 Recently got into this band and really dig this new track, those Egyptian sounding chords resonate with me as my introduction into death metal was Nile.
Brother man if I hear you clear your throat one more time my head is going to explode 😂 But jokes aside you mentioned accuracy in terms of the mouth/throat anatomy. There's a word I learned when I used to work out a lot; proprioception. Your ability to think about flexing the tricep and doing it well type of thing. Some people are really talented with that stuff like for instance control over facial muscles like raising the left eyebrow and right independently. I know it can be cultivated though. I thought you might find that interesting. I wonder how much one can get better at this. Especially considering the smaller the muscle, the harder it is.
Ben is without question the best vocalist in deathcore. Nobody can touch the depths of his cavernous lows. It sounds like an abyss of boiling bodies and hot magma are just pouring out of him. It hits deeper and harder than any vocalist out there right now and his screams are equally nasty 💀
@@GhostOvPerdition Alex terrible might have the meaner Lows. But lets Not start a competion Here, Just wanted to throw him into the Mix. I am very greatfull living in a time where so many outstanding artists exists for a minor genre :)
Nobody can touch his lows? I'm pretty sure Alex Terrible, Will Ramos, Phil Boseman or Travis Ryan (among many others) can easily match or surpass him lol
@@Sithhy None of those vocalists hit the boiling hot and unique sound that Ben has to his lows. Phil is the closest but he still doesn't have that extra layer that Ben has. Nor Alex or Will and Travis Ryan is nowhere near close at all. Hes almost a completely different style vocalist from all of them. Phil came out on the Garza podcast and literally said Ben was his favorite vocalist. He said he was sick and gives him constant praise. So that right there says so much coming from Phil.
@@aK1baby Alex has some mean lows but I'm just constantly blown away at the depth that Ben has. Hes able to project so loudly from that extra layer and it's so impressive. I 100% agree on his knowledge of history and just how humble and kind he seems to be 🤘
As someone who has been in a combat role in the armed service, i can see that Ben truly understands the reality of it and I appreciate that he doesn't sugarcoat anything in his lyrics. Its all just the cold, hard, observable facts about the warring of our species. It is the most idiotic thing we do as a species, and it will eventually lead to our total annihilation if significant changes aren't made. But then the thought arrives in my mind - Does it really even matter? Perhaps we are just a more intelligent species failed experiment...
Dude you already had ben in previous videos. I suggest you check some new bands too. Like distant for example! Alan's vocals are extremely crispy. I would love to hear some analysts to my favorite vocalist.
Seriously it unsubscribed me why but Ben Duerr is amazing favorite new deathcore vocalist. Besides Phil Bozeman from Whitechapel, Ben is so good at a technical level.
Lol Rage Against The Machine being woke is hilarious, why is being accepting of others become unacceptable. I love RATM personally since I was really young, when they started.
Ok I'm gonna ask for some help here, basically trying to "Trent Reznor" deathcore and its honestly VERY fucking difficult. I need drums (thats the one thing Ive just never learned), I need help with song-architecture, especially I need other peoples' input... I cannot complete this task purely on my own, not for lack of trying and definitely not for lack of creative ideas. Thats actually a double-edge in that there is just so many options for where to take the stuff, it can be overwhelming - though I'd rather have that issue than limited options any day of the week. And then each idea spawns several dozen more, it's just like the craziest open-ended sandbox game imaginable! Its extremely fun and satisfying, probably more-so with others involved...
He has a low speaking voice, so it's natural for him to go this low with the vocals. Not saying that he didn't work hard for his vocals to be like this
Just cuz the random chance Ben is checking out the comments, give Dylan Burns a listen. Super young guy doing a great job as a war journalist in Ukraine.
