I think you'll love it!! These are skills that will be instrumental in the rest of your career. Many chief executives have an analyst experience. It really helps you separate information and analyze it. Being an analyst early on in your career will be super helpful for you. I wish they would teach it in high school.

This is really interesting. I'm far from an expert but it reminds me of analysis on university thesis
I majored in math in college and recently landed a job as a financial analyst. Haven't started yet but I've been watching videos on finance to at least sort of know what to expect. Your video was helpful! But I keep seeing rather vague things like "they look at the past to predict the future", "they analyze a lot of data", "they make reports", etc. and am hoping that my job isn't super overwhelming haha. We shall see
UPDATE: the job I’ve described is actually an “operations analyst” role, so I think it differs from a typical “financial analyst” job. You can probably disregard my whole comment if you’re actually looking for a financial analysis career lol.

@@Oregonluver I essentially just applied to every job nearby on Indeed that had titles like "financial analyst", "business analyst", "data analytics", etc. Really any kind of analysis job. Idk if you're interested in majoring in math but I think having a mathematics degree makes you more or less qualified for jobs with analysis/analyst in the title. I still haven't officially started my job, but the description says that I will be maintaining financial instruments such as bonds, loans, derivates, and equities, all within the internal system of the company. Other stuff includes like doing custody trade processing for clients, and keeping track of documents and portfolios among clients.

@@Oregonluver sorry for such a late reply, so I think that most financial analysts make 40-50k starting out but it can quickly go up as far as I know. Have you made any progress towards getting an analyst job??

Analysis : they're analyzing what happened within the financial of company, how different areas of the company performed.
They look for what happened and why happened
Looking at macroeconomic trends
They forecast the finance of Business
They also recommend what should be fone
I don't mean to ask a stupid question, but couldn't one person just handle all this themselves?

@@jacks.4005 correct - data is a very broad term and can relate to anything (sales, products, marketing, ects) Financial data is simply looking at revenue and expenses of the company.

Create a background now. Take up local jobs/internships and work your way up. Also, enroll in community college or any similar program.

I just watched you Remote Data Analyst video and wanted to enquire regarding working as a Data Analyst, but living abroad. I understand that it is almost impossible/unlikely to do this if you live in EU and work for USA. However, do you have any insight on whether it is possible to be employed in one EU country, i.e. UK and then live somewhere else in EU?

Hey Dave - I think within the EU it's a little simpler. However with Brexit that may start making it a little more complicated for someone living in the UK. companies that have their business spread throughout the EU and UK will likely have a better chance of remote work from the UK since they may already have the technicalities of dealing with people in different locations figured out.

Finance - more similar to data analyst but accounting knowledge helps, as we are just analyzing financial data vs product, sale, or other types of data in an organization.

@@UnKnown-dl2yz i found the answer, it’s pointless, they sped over 60 hours a week working on things not related to the stock market, and even if you end up focusing in the stock market as your job you would have spent over 6 years before getting there, or more, i found that the best way is to get income and learn trough traders that teach the stock market. I personally will go and become a radiation therapist, the pay is high and it only takes 3-4 years to become it, in the meanwhile im learning the stock market by ricky gutierrez and other prople, im planing on doing shipt or uber eats so that i can try the stock market before going to study, maybe it works out and i dont have to study at all…
@@alphaone321 I also think there is nothing better than real life experience but since a financial analyst work is to look into the businesses details and figure out it's future performance that kind of competence is going to be so helpful if you're willing to choose best companies to invest in , so I don't think it would be a waste of time

@@alphaone321 Keep in mind financial analysts gain pretty valuable experience though. Experience as an analyst is what leads people to becoming CFO's which are some of the highest paid positions there are.
Does Financial Analyst job require him to feed numbers in softwares similar to Excel? If yes, what percentage of a financial analyst's day to day job is this?
No - Analyst are mostly pulling data out of databases into excel and using excel to look for trends and patterns to see what went wrong or what went right in the current period (month, quarter & year) - we create dashboards in excel as well to help explain financial data to other people in the organization, typically related to the finances that you would analyze, so that they can understand how their unit is doing overall, good or bad. With this data you can make recommendations on which expenses to potential cut to save money or items they should purchase to be more efficient. It is more of a problem solving role than feeding numbers into a system (that is more on the accounting side). Hope that helps!
