Name, Image, Likeness has brought a revolutionary change in College Athletics.
According to The Associated Press: "An average football deal comes out to nearly $3,400 on two platforms. And while softball and women’s basketball generally landed in the top five overall, when you subtract football, women’s sports are getting more deals than men’s sports, Opendorse said. Female gymnasts make big bucks, too: about $7,000 on average per deal, according to NIL platform INFLCR."
But now former legendary Alabama Crimson Tide Football Coach Nick Saban takes another view of NIL. He said this:
We just adapted to (NIL). We actually won when he wad to deal with Name, Image and Likeness!
I wish we’d have won the Playoff game this year. Lost it in overtime. We had a really good team coming back, but I didn’t want to ride the program down.
I tried to hire three coaches and every one of them wanted to know how long I was gonna be there at the end of the season. Every recruit wanted to know how long you’re going to be here. When you’re 72 years old, it’s hard to say, “I’m gonna be here for the next four years.”
But the question I had for a lot of people is, “How long you gonna be here?”
Is NIL good or bad, or something else?
If college athletics is about money, and it is, then it's because the NCAA has made it that way. Has there been anyone who has profited more than Coach Saban who made more money as a college coach than in the NFL. The only change is giving athletes more freedom to maximize their college experience.
You miss the entire point. Casual.
No disrespect to coach Saban but it's got to be a lot easier to say it should not be about money when you have a whole lot of money.And I think it's all messed up now with no process or rules for the transfer portal,but these kids would be crazy not to take advantage of the messed up system.
Because he was an employee of the University, not a student. None of you people understand this topic.
