Excellent work. My favorite thing about this theme is that it's just Locke's theme played as a dirge. It really fits his character: regret over a past loss turns into an obsession over revisiting the danger and tragedy and changing how it plays out, but never being satisfied with it.
Your use of the flutes in this piece really relays the emotion backed by this piece. Nobuo was truly a genius and you're doing him justice with your work.
Some games deserve a remake, but not at this time. I don't want a mistake like the mobile ports, or the more recent, 3D Secret of Mana. Same goes for a lot of media. Look at Netflix adaptations like Death Note.
The imagery of the phoenix in this story ties in with a lesson of the heart chakra. Our grief can only be let go by realizing the love you shared with the departed has been released to the world for you to find again. It's reborn like a phoenix. This is reflected in the other characters as well Locke and Rachel, Cyan, Elayne, and Owain, Terra, Maduin, and Madonna Edgar, Sabin, and the previous king of Figaro. You don't even have to believe in chakras. It's one of those things that you can benefit from if you can accept it.
A recorder is one of the most looked down upon instruments, and an English horn is normally compared to a sibling to a dying duck, but you guys show exactly how they can be used in an amazing way. This song stays so true to its form and is perfect. Thank you guys for all you do!

Then I went back to play the midi I made of this ages ago and i'm like "hmm weird, my version starts with a french horn" which to people not familiar, is a brass instrument, not a woodwind like oboe/english horn. Then I kept playing the midi and realized I went from french horn, to flute, to oboe based on my interpretation of what the game music sounded like. The interesting part is that both the oboe/english horn and the french horn work fine for those first few relatively low notes DESPITE one being a reed instrument and one being a brass instrument, but I'm pretty sure when I take stereo panning into account it IS 3 different instruments, starting with FF6's version of a french horn, then flute, then whichever reeded instrument you want to call it. But that doesn't take away from this rendition because its great regardless. Its a lot easier to push the "instrument" button on a midi synth than to find somebody who can play the real specific instrument, so of course some adjustments have to be made.

Of the renditions and remixes of this piece on TH-cam, I find this one to emote a simplicity that strikes at the heart. Herein is the human touch that cannot be expressed by electronic music.
How does an ff6 game have the best storyline, plot, characters, personalities, and soundtrack of so so many games, yet did it all in blocky SNES graphics? That and games like ps2 FF7 and Shenmue should be landmarks and milestone flagships. My brother has physical copies of all the first 10 FF and then some.. original save files FTW.
I usually don't like orchestral remakes of SNES songs. As the strong hooks and melodies of the originals almost always get lost or muddled. These are really good though.
Being born in 1979, I am so blessed to have been a kid/teenager during NES and SNES reign. So many breathtaking games with stellarly epic music.

I love when you do anything FFVI because your style suits the music so well. This was gorgeous, really captured the heartbreaking tone of the piece.

Forever Rachel is basically the same as Locke's Theme but in a minor key. Brilliant touch by Nobuo Uematsu!

I highly recommend you check out Shore of Dreams (comp. Yasunori Mitsuda) by Seda Baykara. It evokes similar feelings to this song.
