    Cool design. My Mom had a luggage set from the early '50s. Powder blue. It had a hat box, when ladies (and gents) would not go out of the house without a chapeau. It also had a vanity case, a small suitcase for her under things and a large suitcase for her dresses.

    I appreciate your efforts to introduce beginner turntables to those who may just be starting to become acquainted with the world of vinyl. Nice job.

    another fun and unique all in one record player! love the design and though not the best sound, it still is ok for young kids or someone just starting out collecting vinyl and want a simple easy all in one player, nicely done review once again, thanks for sharing

    I'm pretty sure Groove Goo used to be a child's toy called Slime in the 1970s or early 1980s. It came in a miniature trash can. Same bright green color and everything, though it looks like they may have thickened up the mix a little. Back then, it was discovered it was useful for picking up dust and so forth, but the flaw was kids would play with it on carpeted surfaces, and once it got into the fibers it was almost impossible to get out.

      @@Recordology slime time live!
      spongebob!
      wishing I had a plasma screen!!
      I too had a toy like what OP speaks of. I got it from a giftshop on a fieldtrip one summer.
      it too came in a mini trashcan but more of a clear canaster thing with simulated dripping slime on the sides of the lid.
      It was the mid 2000s though

    My mom (87) had a record player that was in a round suitcase looking case. It was black and looked like leather. It also looked like a hat box. I played it endlessly as a child. I have never seen anything that looks like it.

    That TT has waaaay too much flutter. Something is wrong with the belt, the patter, or the motor.

    Very insightful review. I am in the market for something inexpensive. But I live in a small studio apartment, and need something I can connect to my PC, and listen to through my computer's headphones. I notice you didn't really mention the USB at all. Is that feature substandard, not worth mentioning, in your opinion?

    • @Recordology
      @Recordology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question.....its a great feature if you want to back up records, etc. I just don't do it that much these days although we have covered it a lot in the past. It is a worthy feature though.

    The unit looks absolutely beautiful. Its unfortunate that they put all their money into the looks rather than performance.

    This was my first turntable i bought sometime back in 2008 at a Jcpenney outlet. It was branded Jenson and it cost me 50 bucks then lol, and it ate my records and died shortly after lol!

    • @coolelectronics1759
      @coolelectronics1759 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It died of a belly ache from eating all your records.

    This is truly a nice looking piece of gear. One can only wonder why they went through all that effort, and then put such a bad mechanism in it. It's kinda like Bang & Olufsen - Crap in nice wrapping.
    But never the less this is a cool video, and a great review. Thanks mate.

    • @Recordology
      @Recordology  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! Was Bang & Olufsen bad quality? I used the think that was high end kit.....but I don't know....

    • @TheSoundrookie
      @TheSoundrookie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bang and Olufsen is all look and no quality, except if you go really far back in time. What they made in the 60's and before that was actually pretty good, but that all ended during the 70's. They started focusing too much on design and gimmicks, and though the increasing prices made some believe it was good, the quality infact went down the drain.
      Put a strobe on any of their turntables, and you will know what I mean (and you can listen to Radio Moscow while testing, because their pick ups are probably the best receiver for that in existence).
      The biggest problem is that they make the design first, and then the electronics/mechanics just has to fit the best it can. That's never a good idea.
      For instance every time they designed a tapemechanism for their tapedecks themselves, they never worked properly (but they still went on the market). They did when they used a japanese mechanism, but non of their tapedecks was ever impressing, though fitted with a grotesque pricetag.
      Have you ever heard their organpipe speakers? Word of advice; Don't. I'm still twisting my head trying to figure out how anyone could get the idea for something that hopeless, and demand that price for it. And the list goes on and on.
      A Bang and Olufsen stereo system looks impressive. The design is awesome. That part is high end without discussion. But for Gods sake don't turn it on - Then the illusion comes tumbling down.
      If you want to listen to music while having something nice to look at, buy a painting and a plastic stereo from a supermarket. It will sound better, and the painting will probably keep it's value. Or if you have that kind of money to through around, go for some real hifi equipment.
      I have fixed a lot of B&O for people over the years, and I'm telling you; What you stick your hands into is a mess. Bad lay out, bad soldering, stupid solutions to make things fit etc etc etc. In Denmark we say that B&O stands for "Bøvl & Omkostninger" = "Hassle & cost". That's no coincidence.
      But as I mentioned, their really old stuff was great. I have one of these babies www.radiomuseum.org/r/bang_mini_510k.html It's from 1955 and it still goes strong. Back then they sure knew what they were doing.

    Nice hat box, shame about it's contents ... Maybe try a better quality stylus as it sounds like there's not enough free movement in the cantilever of that one.

    I'm sorry, but I have to be boldly honest here: this thing is just HIDEOUS cashwaste...
    Go with a Crosley C8 or C100 instead, they sound better and especially the C8 with wooden finish also looks neat.

    What cheap record player do you recommend that won't skip on new records pressed after the 80s for example early 2000s rap because I watched about someone on TH-cam named Vinyl record boi reviewing rap records on a suitcase record player which I own one and the records had problems with skipping on the record player and my lil Jon single skips on my step brothers record player but not on my suitcase record player

    The ONLY rap I listen to is from Blondie, and it occurred halfway through her hit "The Martian." Guess that dates me, but oh well. However, most musicians and musical 'experts' of my generation also consider that song to be the very first Rap song ever recorded. Than goodness that interlude within "The Martian" is only 90 seconds long...

    You actually OWN some 'music' from the worst genre ever recorded, IMHO, aka RAP. I'm surprised your ears can take it (without knocking the rest of your head off)!! Surprises, surprises...
