Because there are a lot of people like him, with their own unique voices and skill. The only ones that really get heard are the ones picked by the "music industry" to be marketed. They have the power and means to get their voices out and heard. The problem is that they too often pick people based on things that have nothing to do with music: looks, and whether or not they will fit into or can be molded into popular culture, a culture which these powerful people artificially create. There is really not much of a place in our culture for musicians where things can just organically be known and heard. There are (or used to be, I don't know about now) places in Europe where the arts are thriving, and there are many more venues/ways to be heard. They value their artists a lot more.
@@sasskvetch8617And what "looks" would match his voice? In reality looks have nothing at all to do with music, something you'll never see happen in classical music, for example. This should not be the case for more popular forms either.
