I loooooove our country. Sure, some Things are a mess, like every country in the world, but we don’t suffer the concept of injustice without a fight. Some people are so oppressed that they don’t even know. (NK). But Americans will NEVER EVER not fight for individual freedom, the greatest minority of them all; the individual human. GB America 🇺🇸. Unfortunately, there are people who a drug mules. Some make frequent crossings. The sudden high frequency would have raised eyebrows no matter who you were. I'm not discounting that the border agent had personal issues, but often it is just the banality of bureaucracy. Scanning your passports would have triggered warnings.
From a european perspective, having grown up in the border region of the Netherlands and Germany this is just completely crazy to listen to. I can cross the border ten times a day and nobody would stop me and I dont see why Canada and the US didn‘t make such an agreement. It‘s not like their total enemys?

Everything is much cheaper in 'Murrkah. If we were able to make unlimited trips, we'd never spend a dime in Canada.
i used to date a guy in Seattle and spent half my week there every week for 6 months, and i've never heard this before. It is either a very new law, or they were profiled and centered out.

@@BlueGlow26 Well my case was 20 years ago. And while it seems probable it is a new law, relationships between people living in the cities of Vancouver and Seattle are pretty common. I couldn't count the number of friends i have who at one time or another dated someone across the border. we're a border town, it happens a lot. So i still find this mind-boggling. I was a good friend with an American border agent and he never once ever said anything to this effect, and he himself was dating someone up here at the time. And what about truck drivers? MANY people cross the border every day. What about school kids living in Point Roberts who cross the border 2 to 4 times a day every week day. This doesn't make any sense.
My hunch is that they were centered out, and they should of or could of fought it, but i'm sure they are both glad they didn't and that it all worked out.
@@FablestoneSeries, I expect there are carve-outs for people who have a job in one area and live in the other because they would that work visas. One of my co-workers had his wife get a job in Vancouver so they moved up there while he was still working here in Seattle and he commuted down a couple times a week. That was definitely no issue. It looks like the law says 180 days for normal Canadian citizens, which feels very generous, so not sure how they managed it if they'd only been taking three months unless Paul had spent extended time in the US previously in the same year. That said, if they suspect you of drug trafficking or working illegally in the United States, they can cause quite a stink and then you do have to jump through extra hoops to prove you are actually there legally.
Paul became an American for you! Matthew, you cherish the hell out of that man, because that is sacrifice right there.
At this point in history, I would rather be a Canadian then an American. Too much evil Jesus in the USA at the moment.

One of my best friends had a similar experience too. She was dating a guy in the US and was spending a couple months there at a time. They drove back to Canada for Canada day long weekend and then went to go back to the US After the 4th. They got blocked at the border for crossing too many times. So, they spoke to a lawyer who told them to get married. They did a quickie wedding in Ontario. Tried to cross again as a married couple and were blocked again. So they spent the first 2 years of their marriage apart while immigration dug into their entire relationship. She had to stay in Canada until the immigration process was completed. They've been married almost 20 years now.

Thank you for sharing. It touched me personally as I am a Brit and my husband (now sadly deceased) was American with a business in the US. One of the happiest days was when he became a UK citizen and indeed he wanted so much to be British that when he died, I put a copy of his British passport in his pocket for his final journey.

So sad to hear about your loss. I lost my beloved boyfriend Raul, Nov 2019. I still cry everytime I talk about him or think. I was so depressed, I didn't feel as though I could go on and then the pandemic started and I was isolated for 18 months as I'm immunocompromised and almost lost my mind. I hope you are okay and moving on with your life. Glad you got to experience love and make wonderful memories. That is what I focus on now after getting grieve counseling.
@garydmercer Thank you and sorry for your loss. Sadly I have not got over my loss because Maurice was an extraordinary person and we shared so much. We had shared health issues which complicates things. I am 60 now and am happy with friendships. I wish you well and hope you find a new love.
I ordered two of the plushies Paul made.. wish you guys had a business email or something but I guess I'll just put this here. Your story is so catching and heartwarming.. I'm a veteran and someone in need of a new liver.. I'm 35 and may not make it to transplant as I have already had a heart scare where I had to be shocked into rhythm.. had many other problems including cancer but somehow I'm still here..
I decided after 4 years of not dating (with my health I didn't want to hurt someone who loved me if I died) that life is too short and precious to not love until the end.. watching you two helped me in finding that.. I now have a wonderful boyfriend and I can only hope some of your love comes through with the plushies ^^

I am glad you two have found a way to make it work and got past the various hurdles in your relationship. As I said previously, even when you're just talking about ordinary, everyday things with each other, it seems as if you're constantly saying I love you. Truly, you both seem incredibly happy and suited to each other even if you have your differences.
And hearing that you fought is actually kind or reassuring to me that you're solid now. Because a solid relationship does take work, and to have fought and gotten over it means that you've figured out how to put in the emotional work you both needed. The fact that it all looks easy and unshakeable right now means you've built a solid foundation by finding and facing your differences, and that should make going forward easier.
Your stories are wonderful, and I truly wish you the best.

I'm watching Paul's face when you were talking about sitting in the car and absorbing all this,and I swear I watched a fast replay of the whole course of emotions. A little scared, a little anxious,and then realizing that Matthew wasn't even considering any dropping of the relationship, the joy. Talk about micro expressions. Well. That all turned out well! ❤

I have probably glaucome and I really noticed how my vision is getting worser. It' s sometimes pretty scary. My vision has never been perfect I' ve several eye problems. When I hear your story I got hope and I feel so much better.

Hi Paul. I’ve just came across your channel. I think you two are the most adorable people ever!❤ My mother is “legally blind” but from what I gather from watching your videos, your vision and my mom’s vision is about the same. She was born with vision but lost it when she was almost two years old due to being dropped. The accident completely blinded her for a couple of years but light perception came back to her. Multiple surgeries were performed, but with so much scarring from the surgeries, nothing can be done. My mom is so much like you, she has the best attitude and never complains. She did go to the blind school growing up, and I do not want this coming across as mean because I’m not, but my mom said so many of the kids she grew up with have so much anger on the daily about their vision. Paul, you and my mom are doing it right. Picking up and moving on instead of self pity. I’m going to share your channel this weekend with my mom. She will love y’all!❤❤
Ps, coincidentally, my stepfather has RP as well. All peripheral vision is gone, but center vision is still enough to get around with ease.

To be forced to move in with each other was a major test that you were meant to be. You are perfect together.
It's cold now here due to tropical depresseion and my toes got tickled watching you narrated Paul about having decided to stay and be with Matthew. A brave heart and decisiveness to leave your stuff as they were because you coildn't go back anymore to get them yourself. Oh! What love can do. Will put everything to nil just to follow what one's heart beats for! So romantic! ❤❤ but there's nothing comparable than being with the one you love 🥰
My first thought when you said they were warning you at the border was. "Why not ask an immigration lawyer? Many lawyers will do a free consultation and/or there are free/low-cost clinics if it's a money thing..."

Guys, Everything happens for a reason. You should thank the border officer for forcing you two to make the decision and commitment. Federico and I went through the same situation 29 years ago. He was an attorney in Costa Rica and a diplomat who was working at the United Nations. I hired a local immigration attorney and it was several years of work and lots of money. Of course, we could not get married back then. That wasn't an option. But we made the commitment and worked toward Federico becoming a permanent resident. He still is not an American Citizen...but that will come. We got married about 7 years ago. My wish for you two is that you have as happy of a marriage as Federico and I have.

Your fear unfortunately came true for my Canadian friend, whose relationship with her American girlfriend ended when COVID shut down the border. They tried to keep it going long-distance for a while, but eventually broke up a few months later.
Canada's loss, is our gain...good for us/US! This video sounds like a plot for a romance movie!❤

My partner and me have a similar story ! We met in Sweden during our studies and I had to come back to France to do my masters there, but he is Turkish so there was NO WAY he could enter the country more or less permanently without us getting married, which seemed like a pretty big commitment at the time (we didn't plan on getting married ever tbh haha). We spent 6 month going back and forth between Sweden and France, and then we got married and moved in together right away !! It was a pretty big commitment and we had our ups and down for sure, but as you said in your video about knowing he was "the one", we established great communication tools from the get go and we are living so happily now ! Every time he goes on a trip for more than one week, he is counting the days until coming home to me 🥲Anyways, so happy it worked out for you in the end, sending much love from France 😘
I am glad that everything worked out. God would not have done that to you guys because you guys wanna fight tooth and nail to continue this relationship. You really showed us what is love is all about. You showed us what unconditional love is. You showed us that your hi seeing dog and you truly showed the true meaning of unconditional love this was not.
