As an Audi owner who has had 3 audis reach 200k km, oil changes are important and the timing chain kit needs to be replaced at 100 -120k km and the 2.0tfsi will develop an oil burning problem and a pcv issues and a carbon clean up. Never had oil leaks on a3 4 and 5 the tappet cover is quite common not much a problem. At some point you will have to change the coolant expansion tank because the sensor fails overtime the water pump must be done at the same time as the chain. If you got an auto you will have to change the gearbox oil and filters every 5 years or 100k km.
No Audi video like this is complete without mentioning the gearbox mechatronics issue and the water pump failure, but especially the mechatronics gearbox!
Thanks for a great video. I have a 1.8 tfsi from 2014 and have 240 000 kilometers. The main issue is with the oil leak in the front plastic cover. What's the permanent solution?
Good day sir... I am really loving your work and how detailed you are with schooling your followers... I would like to hear your opinion or if you can post a video on the 2014 audi s3 sport back... With let's say 120k kms on the clock and has a service history upto date with Audi service center. Your response will be highly appreciated.
Hi,someone is selling a 2015 A5 2.0 TFSI for dirt cheap. I went to check it, it produced white smoke when starting and the dipstick is broken, guy claimed he just had it rebuilt but l know better, checked oil cap, surprise surprise oil and water same whatsapp group, mixing goed. There was also another head in the boot, suspicious, either he took it to Bra Vusi and Bra Vusi did a kaak job or l dont know. I am thinkin of taking the risk to buy it and maybe fix the engine or get another engine, its a really nice car. I also heard it used the same engine as the Golf 6 GTI, maybe l can source one and throw it in there, what do you think?
Bottom line is,you dont own an AUDI outside a maintainance plan or if you not mechanically inclined or if you dont work for the brand. No such thing as a worse cars to own especially big brands like this but rather bad owners....German cars like this you have to maintain with 90% OEM parts for it to last no shortcuts which many people think they can get away with.
Timing chain is the EA888 platform. EA113 platform has the timing belt. Perhaps you can elaborate on the problems areas between the 2 different platforms which are 2.0 tfsi
No man chief the audi tdi are bulletproof engines I only experienced the common egr and dpf issues on my 2012 a4 either than that the car was amazing and problem free
Well said Mumbo. These facts on these cars have proven to be true, no matter, there's a few owners that may dispute or deny that they have not encountered these problem, maybe its a matter of when and not if. Now how about the A3 and the VW that use these same engines taking into consideration that these engines are used interchangeably between these brands. Which year models are the worst?
Currently experiencing an oil leak after replacing the timing chain at 148 000 km and the is a white smoke coming from the exhaust when driving off ,but it doesn't at idle. There is also an EPC light flashing and the car sometimes shuts itself off when i am driving. Any recommendations?
Had a similar issue on A4 B7 2005/6 EPC Light came on & the car lost power. The cracks sensor was busted. Don't lnow if newer Gen audi's still suffer from this though

How about a A3
Timing chain is the EA888 platform.
EA113 platform has the timing belt.
Perhaps you can elaborate on the problems areas between the 2 different platforms which are 2.0 tfsi
Does this also apply to the 8v A3 1.4tfsi?
