Does just installing a downpipe give an error codes/ check engine light/ o2 sensor codes on stock car? Do you need any ECU management to eliminate any codes? Im planning to get mk7 very soon and was wondering this. Thank you
Yes it does give you a check engine light, at least in my situation in did. But it is because it is a catless downpipe, I think if you go catted you should have no cel
If you get a cat fooler and add it to the catless downpipe, you won’t receive any codes or engine lights. This means you don’t need to get involved with the ECU!

Hey bro, just wanted to let you know that GTI guys have been doing this same exact setup for over a decade. Most of them get tired of the drone, so they then buy a real exhaust. So there really isn't anything special about your exhaust. My MK7 GTI exhaust setup is: Catless DP ECS Tuning exhaust cutout welded into the end portion of the downpipe, facing towards the ground Stock catback, stock resonator, stock muffler My GTI sounds different than basically anyone else as nobody I know has done it the same way as me. I also have a 6spd, and when it pops when I shift, due to the sound echo'ing off the ground when my cutout is open, it gives a very distinct sound which is eargasm.
GTI 2.0Ts just sound terrible compared to the old VR6 ones. This one sounds even worse than stock. 4 cyl is just hopeless for sounding nice apparently.
