  • Apple Vision Pro's BIGGEST Problem
    If Apple can resolve these issues with Apple Vision Pro, I think that would make this a solid headset that could replace your laptop for productivity. Until then, the headset is still too cumbersome to use to get into a good workflow quickly.
    Exciting to see that some of these points were addressed during Apple WWDC 2024 today in visionOS including:
    - TabletopKit
    - Rearrangeable Home Screen
    - Gestures

    It's important to capture these gripes, to improve usability. The real question is whether anything will be done about it.

    i think that far and away the biggest issue is the price / value for money

    • @VRwithJasmine
      @VRwithJasmine  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, but even if it was affordable, people still may not use it regularly because of the issues I listed in this video. AVP has to feel BETTER than laptop/phones so people prefer to use it before other mediums first before it'll gain real traction.

      I think that this is far and away the most common thing that people say. Many people spend as much on a nice home entertainment center. It’s up to the individual - and I would argue for everything that the Vision Pro does and everything that is packed into it… it is value for money (if you can comfortably afford it.)

    You can do that in immersed.

      Yea, I love Immersed. If Immersed can do it, surely Apple can, too. Quite an oversight on Apple's part imo.

    Great video Jas! I’m sure Apple will update the headset to include everything you mentioned. It’ll be interesting to see what the new “consumer” headset will have/not have compared to the AVP.

      The hardware is there and Apple's always been good at software. But I guess we need to remember that even Meta Quest took a bit to get "right", and even then it's still a work in progress.

    These are version 1.0 problems. MacOS has “Spaces” , which isn’t that useful for monitors, but for this it would very great.

    Virtually all of these problems are solvable via software. There are even some of these problems that are being addressed in version 2.0, as announced at WWDC.
    There is one big issue to keep in mind with respect to the evolution of the software, though. It’s clear they used iOS/iPadOS as the basis for the starting point of visionOS. That means many of the things that we take for granted with macOS have to be re-implemented and can’t just be ported over. I think that’s unfortunate for those of us that want to use the Apple Vision Pro for productivity and see it more like a Mac than an iPad.

    Your spot on with all this. In its current state AVP is not a spatial computer. Spatial - has very little interaction with your space and interaction with surfaces in it. Everything just kinda floats. Computer - in the classical sense yes its a computer, but today in the age of phones and tablets and desktops, computer has specific connotations that the AVP does not accomplish - I/O ports, more open OS that can run a variety of programs, hardware that can handle more demanding processes like gaming and video editing. The AVP is basically an IPad. I would prefer instead of spatial computer it was called floaty ipad.

    The monitor thing doesn't really appeal to me personally, I was a programmer for 15 years and you can just use Mac spaces or whatever it's called now to quickly switch etc, it was extremely rare to really need many displays. I think moving your head is just a slower way to do things haha

    These are all growing pains from a new platform. They have a serious NIH syndrome, which has worked out fantastically in their favor. But it also slows them down on the basics.

    • @VRwithJasmine
      @VRwithJasmine  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agreed. There’s still time for Apple to refine. Maybe they priced AVP so high cause they know people willing to pay that price are more willing to endure the growing pains.

      @@VRwithJasmine high price and low battery life screams developer platform. I don't think they intended anyone else to use them. But it's Apple so who really knows?

    Working in VR is more of a hindrance than benefit i have 5 VR headsets and I'd use my 3 monitors every time for actual work. VR has been around for quite awhile now but there is no good operating system for actually using it id say give it like 10 more years.

    The biggest issue with Apple has always been "Their Way, or the Highway...". They can't seem to understand that the world is way way bigger then their ecosystem and they need to inter work with everything else. At least mostly everything a tech geek uses which is not even a thousand things!. How many thousand employees do they have again?!. 😢

    • @DiamondDepthYT
      @DiamondDepthYT หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yeah ngl, thats what I've noticed. I've not seen many people continuing to use it for productivity outside of influencers.

    • @VRwithJasmine
      @VRwithJasmine  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree, a good amount of people who own AVPs are. Generally new products first go to the hands of early adopters before the general public. I know a few people who aren’t influencers that also have them but just aren’t as loud about their use. Definitely still a very new space and even I’m not fully satisfied with the current state of AVP to do a blanket recommendation to everyone. In fact, I don’t think most people should own this headset due to the price vs functionality ratio.

    • @VRwithJasmine
      @VRwithJasmine  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s not ready for mass adoption yet. Only people who are willing to endure the early issues (like influencers) are using it
