this anthem was used after a time of great political instability from 1976-1978. sure hua guofeng may have ended the crimes of the gang of four but clearly he wasnt a strong leader and only ruled for two years before being succeeded by deng xiaoping. deng seems to be a controversial and disliked figure among the western left, but he was very clearly a much stronger man and it is absolutely undeniable that his economic reforms were the foundations of what made china the economic superpower that it is today.
