    Nothing here I didn't know already, but this is a beautiful way to explain Abadar's teachings. I am currently playing an inquisitor of Abadar.

    Very very helpful video. I had an NPC head of town cleargy of Abadar, and I had difficulties of roleplaying him, and, well, the whole clergy. This video cleared up most things for me!

      The priest of Abadar in the ' Curse of the Crimson Throne' audio dramas from "Big Finish Productions" is interesting to encounter as well. Sadly they did only three adventure path audio dramas so far )-;

    Fantastic content as always! Hope you do a video on Pharasma in the future, she's such an interesting character in the setting. Also, I think these shorter videos are perfect for getting people into the Pathfinder lore, it's difficult to convince people to watch a 1+ hour video. Nonetheless, keep it up! :)

  • @Kriptini
    @Kriptini 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Besmara isn't important enough to make it onto Abadar's declared enemies list lmao

    • @thetoweroftomes
      @thetoweroftomes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well I wouldn't say she isn't important, she is a goddess after all, but there are several gods that Abadar disapproves of or loathes, though for him to declare them as his enemies should require more than that in my opinion, seeing that he has no problem dealing with some pretty shady gods.
      And while Norgorber and Besmare certainly are disliked, loathed and abhorred by Abadar, they do , at times, create trade options that he doesn't necessarily disapprove of.
      Rovagug and Lamashtu on the other hand, disrupts all that is Abadar; trade, civilization, law and so on. They, without exception, stands against everything Abadar stands for. Nothing they do will ever be a positive in the eyes of Abadar.
      Now Abadar is willing to negotiate with any god, even those two, though chances are slim that they ever would wish to do so.
      To be more specific in Gods and Magic 2E, Rovagug, Lamashtu, Besmara and Norgorber are listed as his enemies. Norgorber really had me wondering if I should mention him, but in inner sea gods it is also stated that Abadar has dealt with Norgorber before in order to keep great secrets. In inner sea gods Besmara isn't mentioned at all and in inner sea faiths we get a line that says Abadar abhors her due to naval trade disruption. I usually avoid putting information in my video if find it too vague or uncertain, which I think is the case with Besmara.
      Rovagug and Lamashtu are the ones that are most clearly stated as declared enemies and knowing the history of the Gods I think this makes a lot of sense.
      Like always, a lot of information is scattered throughout several books and sometimes it can be a bit vague and, at times, a bit confusing. It is of course possible that I missed something, but this is what my research has led me to believe.
      Hope you still liked the video. :)

    Abadar sounds like the perfect god for a cleric character I hope to play. Someone who opposes slavery and uses clever diplomacy, economics and good old fashioned legal manipulation to serve Abadar and make a more just society.

    This Diedy, which my speaks to text would not be able to spell, is the God of capitalism. Capitalism cannot function without a poor under class. It demands origid and well-defined class structure.

    • @ren_dhark
      @ren_dhark 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Abadar is a firm opponent of slavery and the god of city building, laws and trading, but imho not capitalism. colonialism or mercantilism which is more to the liking of the Aspis Consortium and their neutral evil agenda.
