    What Caleb does (all that running and throwing) won't work that well or translate easily to the NFL. While Penix's passing into double coverage, over shoulder fade balls are a staple for the NFL.

    USC alum and fan here… Caleb has all the tools but Penix is NFL ready now. He already looks better than all but maybe 3 starters in the NFL right now. He has Uber vision and is never hurried in the pocket despite not having 5 stars on his O Line (he’s a big reason for the line getting awarded as the best in CFB this year).
    What Penix does is give you elite accuracy, arm strength… as Joel Klatt said, he throws with leverage. He puts the ball where only his guys can catch it. That’s a huge premium. I’m rooting for him to get that final natty for the PAC.
    For his sake I don’t want him to be No.1 in the draft because that likely means he’s playing behind a garbage line. Just go in the first round 10th or later, get paid, and make a team a contender young man.

    • @danncorbit3623
      @danncorbit3623 ปีที่แล้ว

      The early pick is usually a problem for any QB. It's not healthy for anyone to absorb 60 sacks. The only exception being when a good team has a good pick because of a trade or a trade up in the draft. The Seahawks drafted a kid named Rick Mirer from Notre Dame. He got blasted like a punching bag in Gold's gymnasium for a year and that ruined his career. A smart team would pick up a couple top notch free agent offensive linemen when drafting a QB high in the draft. After all, they are not spending 35 million on the QB position, so they can afford some protection.

  • @kft590

    Penix is the most ready to play in the NFL right now. Williams, Daniels, and Maye will likely take some lumps before they thrive in the NFL.

    • @nicholas4727
      @nicholas4727 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but most ready to play but that doesn't mean the best prospect. Pennix worries me with his injury history and inability to escape pressure. Yes he's good behind a wall of an offensive line but NFL pressure is a whole different game. My guess is he will be a solid backup somewhere but he's not starting QB material. Right now he's more experienced than Williams or Maye, but NFL scouts don't draft for right now, they draft potential especially in the first round.

    • @kft590
      @kft590 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some scouts project that Penix will run a sub 4.7 / 40 that is faster than all but a few running QB's. He is more elusive than he is given credit for he was sacked 11 times in 15 games.

      I am a husky, but I am not sure that Penix Jr will outshine Williams in the NFL. Both are enormous talents and I think both of them will be franchise QBs. This is the deepest class of QBs in decades and I think those two are surely in the top five. I don't think it is necessary to denigrate any of the great athlete QBs in this year's draft to elevate our favorites. IMO, YMMV

    Penix deep ball and quickness on his release are UNBELIEVABLE. I’ve never seen a college QB drop or drive more deep passes into the PERFECT spot more often than Penix does. Klatt talks about the “leverage” that he passes with. It’s a real thing.

    Yes and it aint even close. Penix is the most dynamic in the pocket, comfortable, senses pressure, as well as accurate from the pocket. In addition, dude has the best back shoulder throw I've ever seen from a prospect. Odunze has the highest contested catch rate by a mile in college and it's mostly because Penix ia also the most accurate tight window thrower in the draft. Penix also has touch which is what a lot of people are saying he doesn't have because they're trying to find holes in his game. They're confusing the fact that he throws a lot of lasers accurately with this idea that he can't throw a non laser pass, which is a take that can be put to bed after watching a single game's worth of tape. I'd rank Penix, Daniels, Nix, CW in that order and everyone goes nuts. Caleb Williams is so overhyped. He has zero pocket presence or comfort in the pocket. There's whole game's where he scrambles out of clean pockets almost every play because he 's not comfortable in the pocket. He's the opposite of Penix on back shoulder throws as he struggles mightily to throw the back shoulder and just about any other throw along the sideline. He's accurate over the middle but most qb's are. His whole game is to scramble out of the pocket and improvise which is a lot more Manziel and a lot less Mahomes. I wont even waste my breath on Maye. Dude is disgustingly overhyped. Reminds me a lot of Gabbert/Rosen/Trubisky.

    Williams “escapability” is only made necessary because he doesn’t know where to go with the ball. The same with all these other running QBs. Look at how long Penix holds the ball. Not long. He looks at all his checkdowns first then BAM!He hits his primary receiver streaking down the field for 50 yards. Penix is already a pro quarterback.

    Michael Penix Jr is BY FAR the BEST QB in this upcoming draft and it isnt close, he is way better than Crybaby Caleb and Drake Maye. Bo Nix is the second best QB in draft and its stupid how these mock drafts have JJ McCarthy, Drake Maye, and Caleb Williams over him. Penix and Nix both proved they are better QBs than crybaby Caleb head to head this year.
    With that being said I do hope Penix doesn't get taken in the top 5 because I want my Saints to draft him. • @danncorbit3623

    I'm a Washington husky, so my opinion of Penix is probably inflated. I would not be surprised if he was the first pick. There are Seahawk fans that think we will be able to draft him. I am pretty sure he will be gone before the tenth pick. So Penix in Seahawk colors is a pipe dream (the Seahawks just do not move up in the draft either, they move down for more picks). I think this will be the deepest QB draft since 1983 which produced three hall of fame quarterbacks. I don't see any huge busts like JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf, and I think three Pac 12 QBs will be NFL starters their first year (even though it is clearly better to sit a year, but nobody does that anymore). Michael Penix Jr., Bo Nix and Caleb Williams are clear uber-talents. Also Uiagalelei and Sanders are later round prospects from the Pac 12. Clearly, there are great quarterbacks in other conferences as well such as Drake Maye and Jaden Daniels. Not to mention that QB prospects are often overlooked (with Tom Brady being the poster boy for that and Russel Wilson here in the Pacific Northwest is another example). Currently, Seattle is at position 16, and I think a good QB will be still on the board when Seattle picks, but it won't be Penix Jr. The mock drafts are not formed by NFL scouts, who know better than the unwashed masses.

    • @gdl3467
      @gdl3467 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sanders is definitely going back to Colorado. If they get a decent oline he could have a Heisman season and get first round buzz in 2025. Uiagalelei just transfered to FSU, so he'll be one more year in college as well.

  • @davidlawrence8051
    @davidlawrence8051 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Maye is the safest pick tbh. He has everything you could possibly want. If you look at what translates to NFL football its the size, the arm, the accruacy, the vision and movement. He just didnt play with great talent but also didnt play against tough comeptition regularly. I before Tez was deemed eligible he had not alot around him and was still balling out. Not he was not the best college qb this year but neither was herbert. The best qbs in college arent always the best NFL qbs.

      The broncos have a TERRIBLE defense. Ranked 29th and 30th for points and yards surrendered. I don't think any of these QBs play both ways like the old days, so they won't help the defense a lot (except keeping the offense on the field a little longer). The Vikings have Cousins, who is a really good QB. Why not address another need?

    • @gdl3467
      @gdl3467 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danncorbit3623 The main goal for the Broncos this offseason is getting the QB of the future, now that Wilson's tenure seems to be over. Getting it on the first round is very likely. They can address the other needs in free agency o later in the draft. Their defense is not as bad as the stats say. The Dolphins game when they surrendered 70 points is the main reason of those stats, but there was a span in the second half of the season where they were playing good defense, they were a turnover machine.
