Always happy to see Leaf on this show and always hoping he's got nothing but good days ahead. Anyone who puts in the work to be a better person and atone for past mistakes deserves support.
As a 30 year Charger fan I’ve never been more happy for a former player than I am for Ryan Leaf. His life’s turnaround is nothing short of miraculous. And he’s so honest about himself it’s refreshing.
Always love seeing Ryan, he speaks so eloquently and I love the fact he doesn't shy away from past, he embraces it in the way he has grown from it and shares his story so that hopefully young people don't fall into the same trap, he's a class act and I love his chemistry with Rich.
Ryan Leaf has been a legit inspiration for me. He was one of many voices that I paid attention to regarding the benefits of getting clean, and I'm coming up on one year sobriety next week. 🎉
I really enjoy when Ryan Leaf comes on. He is such a decent, humble guy, while being very knowledgeable at the same time. I hope he has a lot of success!
Thank you for giving us all the opportunity to get to learn about Ryan Leaf and the amazing individual he has evolved into after a tumultuous start to his professional life He does a great job hosting and it’s a feel good story to share in his success
@@philosophy20yeah he defintely is. Please tell me when the last time a rookie was drafted and then immediately goes to the Super Bowl. It doesn’t happen, but that’s everyone’s expectation. All the comments are “but we built this team to win NOW, why would they start anyone else?” Don’t be surprised when they miss the playoffs and fire eberflus. And then Caleb is stuck with a new head coach in his second year as a player, learning a whole new system and everything. Recipe for failure
@nickh2935 ..... Idk where you're getting your Bears news, but you're looking in the wrong places, lol. The Bears are set up to be better than last year, but no logical Bears fan thinks they should win the SB this coming year. If anything, they should win 8 or 9 games. Any more than that is a luxury. If Flus has a season where he loses the locker room or wins only 4 or 5 games. That would be the only thing I could see him losing his job. Other than that, I think he has a two year window of evaluation. The guys could have quit on the coach a few times last year. But they didn't. He never lost the locker room. We'll see, tho...👊🏽🐻⬇️
Really proud of Ryan Leaf. I had season tickets in San Diego during his tenure. He has grown so much. He is the "it's not how you start, but how you finish" poster child. Keep it up Ryan..., really glad to see you doing so well. As an aside: thank you for the football you threw to me in the stands after one of your games at Qualcom (on your way to the locker room at the end of the game). I still have that ball :). Go Ryan and Go Chargers!
I cheer on anyone who can get over addiction issues and get their lives turned onto a positive track. May his family and puppers keep him firmly grounded.
It is so inspiring for Ryan to succeed after a train wreck of a life and become and engaging, successful and quality human being. He is capable of honest self-reflection and self-deprecating humor. There are few people that would ever be able to recover from the reputation he earned as a young man. Good on ya Ryan. You are a good man!
Tell Ryan I said hello. Would love to catch up with him. A lot of prayers his way over the years and so glad to see where he is at and to hear about his wonderful family.
It's very interesting to hear how journalists and scouts like the guys with prototypical traits like McCarthy and Maye, while ex QBs who played in the league think Penix is a top 3 QB
No, the negative stuff out of Leaf's mouth is no good. Caleb will do all right. We have a TEAM. He can sit AND PLAY in spurts...Why not? Poles has already proven him and his staff their worth. the issue for me is we need 1 more year! with 11 picks we will fill in all the holes and become a SOLID TEAM, for years to come.
10:58 I do not really care to hear about this narrative that Caleb is set up for failure. Everything he will have to work with is undeniably better than anything Tua had to get through for his first two years, and he didn’t just survive it. He is now better for it. If Caleb is going to be that guy, he is going to be that guy, regardless of whether or not he has to learn a new offense from year one to year two. Tua learned a new offense every year of his college career and each of his first 3 years in the NFL. His second year he had 3 different offensive play callers trying to run 3 different offenses at the same time. And he still has one of the best winning percentages in the entire NFL right now. He is not only just survived, but now that he has had the same offense for consecutive seasons, and a competent play caller and some decent players around him, he has been thriving. I know people love to hate on the guy, those people either have wildly unrealistic expectations because they don’t understand the game of football, and the only thing they know about it is based on those expectations or they don’t actually watch the guy play.
I think Ryan Leaf helps us to see the human nature of young quarterbacks. Remember, these young men are in their early 20's and are about to be handed all the expectations of a franchise and its fans on their shoulders. Add in all the incessant media attention. His point about Caleb Williams is well taken. As a Lions fan, I don't want to see Caleb have success, but as a person, I don't want to see the young man become a mental and emotional basket case. Jared Goff's journey has really shown me that even a very good quarterback still has to mature, have support around him and have an organization - especially the head coach, general manager and owner - build up that player's confidence. I can't imagine the confidence boost Goff must have felt when Lions fans were chanting his name before the playoff game at home against Stafford and the Rams. If any of the teams picking at the top of the draft grab these young quarterbacks, they'd better be willing to do what is needed for them to have success.
I am glad he has turned it all around. He certainly has had his fair share of struggles. I appreciate his insight into the NFL from those times. I realize why the Chargers did it (been a Charger fan since 1988) but I always was pissed by what price the Cardinals were charging to move up. It was them holding the Chargers over a barrrel.
He’s wrong about Caleb sitting but right about firing flus. Bears had the perfect opportunity to clear the slate and didn’t. I think it’s because ownership didn’t want to pay buyouts
God had a different plan for Ryan. Lots of people try to help others never having experiencing the same hardships. Beyond moving past addiction and disappointment i love how Ryan seems to really just love life now. I bet there was a day he could never imagine having a life like he has.
The people who only saw Penix vs Texas think he's great. By far, the best game he played all year. The people who saw him all year long, know that he's not that good. I love Ryan, but I respectfully disagree with him regarding Penix. As they say, time will tell.
Buddy that only told me you bias? Ion got no college team im a Broncos that been doing homework since 2021 on this draft Class. Penix played the most top school this year like 7. won 6 lost 1. Things about Penix he does NFL stuff like processing, ability to go left to right, throwing the safety off If you didn’t see that you don’t know football out of everybody Penix is the Best at it
They should send TJ outside to do a man on the street report about whatever and just make it a point to set the camera right in the guys path. Like set the camera against the outside window and step back 10 feet lol. And you gotta keep ducking and bobbing n weaving to keep your face on camera around the worker and all the debris
The greatest bust of all time trying to talk about potential busts. The "what happened to me" comment killed me. Redemption story aside, he's clueless. His tone is the epitome of blaming people for busts. Maybe they just sucked, like himself.
Ryan Leaf is one of the best human redemption stories. Not as a player, but as a person. I'm happy for him that he turned his life around.
Guy has hit rock bottom multiple times. Struggles with a lot of demons. But always seems to bounce back
I think Erik Kramer's story is quite a comeback too.
Me too - I wish him all the best with his new family. Seems as though he finally pulled through. Good on you Ryan.
Amen to this!!
Rich is killing it. Another great interview
I loved it when Ryan filled in for Rich… I hope they have him on a bunch more times. So awesome to see Ryan doing so good after everything.
We found Ryan’s burner account
Always happy to see Leaf on this show and always hoping he's got nothing but good days ahead. Anyone who puts in the work to be a better person and atone for past mistakes deserves support.

"Speaking of busts, I have Ryan Leaf here..."
That had me dying 😂😂😂
You know he meant it🤣
Perfect comedic timing
Ryan wears that badge proudly now😊.
Love seeing Ryan back here!
I was pulling so hard against Ryan when he got drafted and I regret it so much. I friggin love that guy now.😊
Love Ryan Leaf. Amazing sports announcer. Just kills it.
Always tune in for Ryan...

He’s done a great job guest-hosting RES.

Give Ryan his own show. I can listen to his insight for hours.
So wonderful to see Ryan again. Dudes done good. It's good to see

I love having Leaf as a guest. I could have easily watched another 30 minutes.
Ryan is 100% correct about Caleb and Chicago
No he's not lol

Maybe not so great as a pro QB, but Ryan absolutely kills it in the media!
I think Ryan couldn't be more correct with his viewpoint in Caleb and Mac and everyone he talked about.
Ryan Leaf is the classic case of a heel who turned face over time and many of us are proud of his transformation
More Ryan Leaf on the show please
🥂 Cheers Ryan really enjoyed this
I love the man he’s become. Keep on, keeping on Leaf!

Not only is he a great redemption story, He's also got a great shoe game! Are those the A.I.'s? They are sick!
Glad to see that Ryan Leaf is a level headed bloke now and he’ll do great things
Penix baby
Love Ryan Leaf.
Ryan Leaf is the Robert Downey Jr of the NFL. Always fun to see him on the show and hear what he has to say.

Even Husky fans like Ryan Leaf now... Way to go dude.
Good stuff, guys. 👍
Leaf has made "Wasted Draft Pick" into a career.
I really like him as a commentator, mind you.
He should color commentate for games with Rich
When Leaf was talking about Caleb Williams, that is literally step by step how Trevor Lawrence's career has gone

Great to see Ryan doing well. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Art Schlister. Wish Art could finally find some purpose like Ryan.

good take on CW, I've been saying for months. I can't wait to see him really shine in his second contract, likely the the Falcons in 2029.
He has one of the best stories for after football, it’s not Donnie Edwards like “look up his story now”, but it’s still a great story..

Ryan Leaf is great at 1 thing.... talking about Ryan Leaf
I'm a big proponent for more oscar on this show.
Testaverde was better w Jets than Buds, too
Does he seriously think the Bears are going to sit Caleb Williams for a year? What a bizarre take.
He couldn’t play, well, so he can only talk down of players he can’t be
